Microsoft Word Hates Me Today

I'm seriously ready to throw my computer through a window. The only thing stopping me is the fact that I know it's not my computer's fault... it's me!

I thought I knew so much about Microsoft Word... well, today, it has been proven to me that I obviously don't know enough.

I have my entire report finished... it's done... except for one stupid detail. You see, we are supposed to have endnotes. That's all fine and dandy - Endnotes did it, got em, check. The endnotes are supposed to be on a separate page at the end of the report, rather than at the bottom of the last page of the report. That's all fine and dandy - Endnotes on separate page, did it, got it, check. But THEN I am supposed to add another page to be my Bibliography page after the endnotes page... well, it won't allow me to insert a page break after the endnotes, because - duh, they are set up to be at the end of the document... so, if you add another page, then endnotes wouldn't be at the end, now would then? I have my Bibliography page all done - I just can't put it on the page after the endnotes. If I just manually enter until I get to a new page and insert my Bibliography entries... then Word's Table of Contents function won't recognize the Bibliography page as a separate page (it thinks it is part of the endnotes)!!! Just shoot me now!
All Done...
I'm ALL done...
except this stupid little hang up...

Any Microsoft Word experts out there? I sure there are... come on... don't you want to help a fellow blogger?

Quite an exciting post, don't ya think? (nah, not really - it would only be exciting if y'all could hear the words coming out of my mouth right now)

Sky Watch Friday #1

(c) Misty DawnS

Do ya see that "#1" in the title??? This is my first week joining "Sky Watch Friday", and I'm very, very excited about it (can ya tell?). The reason I'm so excited is because since I moved here, some of my favorite shots are of the sky, whether they are of sunsets, clouds, the sun, the moon, or a sunrise (OK, the sunrise is a very, very occasional shot, because I don't get up early LOL - hey, I DO have TWO sunrise shots... er, um... taken the same morning). Anyway, I'm thrilled to join Sky Watch Friday. In fact, I have so many sky shots, that I joined in with both of my blogs. So, if you want to see another of my sky shots each Friday, then visit Misty's Words (seriously... that blog has hardly any traffic... yes, I realize this is a shameless plug for my other blog... no, I'm not embarrassed - thanks everyone!)

Oh... and for anyone who noticed that my copyright name now has an "S" at the end of it...there's a post to follow about that... you won't want to miss it - it involves a rather endowed porn star, my name, some links to me thinking I'm 'endowed', which I'm not, my husband's reaction when he saw who I am not... are you sufficiently confused yet - stay tuned for the post in which I explain :-)

I Won a Puppy!

Yep, you read that right. I won a puppy! OK, I'll explain...

When my husband and I go out to play pool, we play a little game of betting on each game. I can't tell you what my husband wins... you can just let your mind wander. Anyway, last time we went to play pool, I finally declared that this little betting game was totally unfair, because Hubs was the only one with something to gain if he won. So, he asked, "OK then, what do you want to bet on for you win?" I stood there dumbfounded... and at that moment, my cell phone rang. It was my dad (Yay for Dad!). He said he just wanted to tell me he had just left a guy's house who had two puppies that needed homes. The reason he was calling me (besides the fact that he knows his daughter is completely dog-obsessed) was because the puppies are part Great Pyrenees. So, after I hung up the phone, I had a whole new focus on the pool game, because I informed my husband that I was playing to win a puppy. He laughed and agreed... I think because he didn't think there was any way I would beat him. Ahhhh, but do not underestimate the power and drive behind Misty when there is a dog involved! You guessed it - I won a puppy! Now, we'll just see if my husband goes along with that bet. Hey, when you already have three dogs, what's three one more??? Here's why the breed of the dog was important...

My dad had purchased a Great Pyrenees puppy for my husband and me as our wedding gift. What do you mean a puppy sounds like a strange wedding gift? Remember who is typing this! Actually, we had sheep at the time, and my husband wanted a Great Pyrenees to protect the sheep. Well, Bear didn't do much to protect the sheep. He was too much of a kleptomaniac. You see, when it got dark, Bear started 'collecting' his precious treasures. It started with Bear collecting all the cats' feed and water dishes, his dishes, and even the sheep's containers that we would pour feed pellets in. We would wake up in the morning to all of the feed dishes and containers all lined up neatly in front of the barn. After a while, Bear decided he needed more treasures, so he started expanding his searches to the neighbors. We found empty laundry detergent bottles of a brand that we didn't use, empty 2-liter pop jugs when we didn't buy 2-liter pop, flower watering cans, etc. When he came home with a spray nozzle for a garden hose which had obviously been chewed off of the hose it had been attached to, Hubs figured he better contain this kleptomaniac before we got in serious trouble.

We lost Bear to a tragic accident, and we miss him deeply. My husband still won't even talk about him or look at his pictures. If his name gets mentioned, my husband tears up and walks away. I think that his missing Bear so much is the reason he actually agreed to my prize if I won the game... well, that and the fact he didn't think that I would possibly win.

Here's my beautiful Bear. Wasn't he gorgeous? He was the most loving creature ever. He would sit for hours without moving, as long as I had my arms wrapped around him in a hug.

My Whooshy Swirly Day

Here I sit... in silence... well, other than the swish, swish... whirl, whirl... whoosh, whoosh, I keep hearing in my ears and head. I feel like I'm on some kind of hallucinogen. You should see me when the phone rings... swish, whoosh, brrrring, whooooooooosh... What the heck was that? Oh yeah, the... whooosh, swishhhhhh, brrrrrring.... phone! Try to set laptop down... head is swirling... don't fall over Misty... whatever you do, Misty, do NOT drop this laptop... swishh.... whooosh. Then again, if you drop the laptop - the one that has left permanent burn marks on your legs... then, you may be able to convince others that you need a new one... swish... brrrrrring.... whoosh. WHAT the HECK? Oh yeah, the phone. Don't fall over Misty... steady now.

But, the best part of the day... oh yes, the best part was when the darling Hubs came in and informed me that he needed my help. Needed Misty-who-can't-hear-a-darn-thing-and-can-hardly-stand-up-let-alone-walk-straight's help. What did he need help with, you ask? Oh well, he needed my help putting the final pieces of steel on the roof of the house. YES - this involved standing out in the cold... with the wind whooshing and swirling around me... WHAT??? Oh, help you carry the steel. WHAT??? Oh, hold it down so the wind doesn't catch it and blow me away with it... that would be nice right about now. HUH??? Climb the ladder? UP to the ROOF??? Clear up there? You can't be serious! Oh you weren't... you didn't want me to just climb that long... whoosh... ladder up to the very top (thank goodness)... oh - you want me to have your drill in my hand while I climb that ladder, which happens to be missing a rung halfway up. Sure Honey, anything for you and our home :-)

I'm going to lie down now and listen to the ocean in my ears.
The college report, you ask? Oh yeah... that... Well, I'm almost starting it finished with it. I keep trying to figure out why I just don't seem to care anymore - I'm seriously considering not finishing my degree. I know it's stupid, but it's just how I feel right now.

Oh well, I'm just going to leave myself alone with my procrastination and the ocean. I'll talk to you tomorrow. Forgive me for not visiting all of you today. I'm afraid that I couldn't even hear myself think.

* In defense of my husband - he wasn't intentionally coming to ask for my help when he knew I felt lousy. He had no other choice, because we have no one else available to help right now. Besides, if someone else came to help, we would have to pay that person. That's the convenience of marriage - free labor ;-)

Let's Walk!

I just can't resist sharing two more photos with you. Both of these photos were taken when my husband and I went on a walk on Saturday. The dogs were absolutely thrilled that we were taking them on a walk together, as that is a rare treat for them. They had a blast, and I just kept taking pictures. It was fun.

What? Huh?

Usually, I'm teasing my husband about his lack of hearing. That may sound cruel, but he is aware of this serious problem and refuses to get any help for it, so I pick on him about it in the hopes that he will eventually decide to do something about his hearing problem.

For the past few days, I have been the one saying "Huh?" or "What?". My ear is clogged, from what I'm assuming to be sinus problems. Well, as of last night, my ear is totally clogged. I feel like I am underwater with all the swishing and swirling going on in my ear. And hurt... oh boy does it hurt! Right now, hiccups are absolutely evil... every time I hiccup, the shooting pain through my ear just about sends me over the edge. According to my husband, I've yelled out loud a couple of times... but, I wouldn't know... cuz I can't hear anything ;-)

So, between this ear that is driving me nuts, the wind that was blowing like mad and causing our house to moan and groan outside the window next to my good ear, the issues from yesterday which still have me upset today, and the fact that I have procrastinated (again) on some major homework assignments - 1. I didn't get hardly any sleep last night 2. I feel like crap 3. I'm stressed to the max 4. I just want to go crawl in a cave somewhere and not come out for quite a while. I'll have to take care of the ear problem first though. Otherwise, I won't be able to hear if there's anything back in that cave waiting for me!

Any painful, fluid-filled ear solutions are extremely welcome!

Wordless Wednesday

(c) Misty Dawn

This is what that adorable puppy (the one in the banner) looks like now.
She is now nine months old and is growing up and developing her own personality.
She constantly watches the other two dogs to see what they are doing and learn from them, but she has more independence than either of them.
She's always alert and does everything at full speed.
If I don't train this puppy in either agility, herding, or both, then I am seriously doing her a disservice, because she constantly shows that she is full of instinct.

Updates on My Random Thoughts.

I'm going through withdrawals from talking to my dad! We usually talk each.and.every.single.night! But, he went hunting this week, so I haven't talked to him since Saturday. YES, I realize that it has only been two nights I haven't talked to him. Just imagine how I'll be when it's Friday or so!!!

I've decided that the contest I will host on this blog will be for my photography. That's all I've decided so far. Don't know when. Don't know which photos. Don't know how many prizes or how many photos. I'll figure it all out... soon.

After reading a few friend's posts about attempting to change their blog design... I am now petrified of attempting to switch over to three columns. It would look SO much better... but I'm feeling rather chicken right now.

I'm down in the dumps emotionally today. But, y'all don't come here to read that stuff. So, I'll keep it to myself. Besides, I'll get over it soon!

If you have time - read my Heads or Tails post for this week... Wrote that one when I wasn't down in the dumps and I think it's a fun post :-)

Heads Or Tails Tuesday *Mark*

One of my favorite bloggers, Skittles has started a Tuesday meme. It is LOTS of fun-so you'll wanna join us right away! If you click on the Heads or Tails logo - it will take you to the post to tell you more about the meme.

This week's topic is a Heads, and the word is "Mark".

I have to admit that, lately, I've been having many dreams and fantasies about a "Mark". Oh yes, I'm admitting to the whole blogosphere that I have been fantasizing about "Mark", and, yes, you guessed it - my husband's name is NOT Mark. You will seriously be appalled when you hear that my husband (not named Mark) isn't the least bit jealous or upset that I've been having all of these dreams about this "Mark". OH *gasp* I can hear you now. What kind of person is this Misty Dawn? I can hear you whispering 'She certainly isn't the sweet, innocent, little girl we thought she was.

But hey, I can't be that bad, considering that I'm not hiding this from anyone, including my husband. My husband and I have talked extensively about "Mark", and even though my husband's response is "absolutely NOT!", he says that's just for now. He's told me that eventually, he would be understanding and supportive if I devoted much time and love to "Mark". He says I can even bring "Mark" home... someday... after my husband has prepared himself.

So, you want to see a photo of my gorgeous, strong, and sexy "Mark"? OK, just for you - I'll share a photo of the love machine I've been dreaming about... (Just click "Read More" - but prepare yourself)

Oh yeah Baby... I got Mark at all angles...

Isn't he the most gorgeous thing you've ever seen. Ohhhhhhh I'm SO in love!
In case you want the low-down on the gorgeous "Mark"...
It's a Canon EOS 1D Mark II (photo courtesy of
I would love him and hug him and cherish him... forever and ever... if only he would be mine!

My friend Becca started a new Monday meme called Give Me Five Monday. The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, she will put out a random topic from her list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back to her! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified. Go over to BeccA's Buzz and check it out!
This week's topic is related to Black Friday. You are supposed to list five pet peeves or dislikes associated with shopping. NO problem...

1. Crowds & Rude People
I don't like crowds, especially crowds of people I don't know. I especially don't like the shopping crowds around the holidays. Because, rather than being in the holiday spirit, people get rude, disrespectful, and downright mean. That totally ruins the spirit for me. Is it some unwritten rule that when people are shopping, they must be rude and nasty to each other? I've been run into by carts without any apology to follow, etc.

2. Being Away From Home and the Computer
Yes people, I AM that much of a homebody and honestly that much addicted to my computer.

3. Waking Up
I usually shop with family members who insist that you must be standing outside the doors of the store before they even unlock the doors. Did you know I'm not a morning person? So, since I'm not a morning person, and I don't really enjoy going shopping... this is not a good combination for me.

4. Standing in Cold Weather
This one relates partly to #3. Not only do you have to stand outside the store doors before they are unlocked - this time of year, you are standing outside the doors while the snow and wind is blowing around you and causing you to wonder if you still have ears and a nose attached to your head. I still cannot for the life of me understand why we cannot just sit in the vehicle and wait until we see them open the doors.

5. Decisions
I'm not a fan at making decisions. I'm one of those "whatever you think is fine with me" people. So, I hate trying to make decisions about what I should purchase. I'm just not good at making decisions.

I have to add one more thing here!

First Letter of Your Name Meme

I thought this meme looked like fun and actually secretly hoped I would get tagged for it. Then, I saw someone tag my BBFF Tammy. So, I knew that she'd tag me, cuz I can always count on her!

It's pretty simple, just use the first letter of your name to answer the questions. They have to be real answers though, nothing made up and you can't use your own name as an answer. Since my name is Misty all my answers have to start with a "M". (Thanks for pointing that out to me Anna! Just as Tammy, I'm such a dork!!!)

  1. Famous Singer: DUH Like you don't know what I'm going to put for this one MARTINA MCBRIDE!!!
  2. Four Letter Word: Most
  3. Street: Main Street
  4. Color: Mauve
  5. Gifts/Presents: MP3 Player
  6. Vehicles: Mercedes
  7. Things In A Souvenir Shop: Money
  8. Boy Name: Matthew
  9. Girl Name: Mariah
  10. Movie Title: Mask
  11. Drink: Manhattan
  12. Occupation: Massotherapist
  13. Celebrity: Madonna
  14. Magazine: Maxim
  15. U.S. City: Madison
  16. Pro Sports: Minnesota Vikings
  17. Fruit: Mango
  18. Reason For Being Late For Work: Morning sickness
  19. Something You Throw Away: Moldy leftovers
  20. Something You Shout: Moron!!!!!!!! (Right Tammy???)

Now who to tag. This is a fun one - so I think y'all should do it :-) Let's see how many letters of the alphabet get completed for this meme!

Blog Happenings Coming Soon

Well... whadda ya think about the blog being all spiffied up for the Christmas season???

Bradley - the puppy is still there... and don't panic... I will revert back to the original puppy photo after this one is done ;-)

I think there are going to be some major things happening at the blog...

1. I'm switching over to a three column template... I've been planning to do that for months, but I'm still nervous because I don't want to mess anything up. My blog is cramped and cluttered... it's starting to look messy and *gasp* unorganized (oh the horror!!!). So, my Christmas gift to my blog is that I will give it room to grow and breath... I will give it the gift of three columns. Ummmm... soon... yeah... I'll do it soon. In the new three column blog house, the blinkies will have their own room, the badges will have their own room, and the awards will be proudly displayed in the award room :-)

2. I'm going to have a contest. Oh yes I am. I'm not sure how it's going to work yet, but I've been thinking about this for awhile. So, I'm going to do it! Ummmm... soon... yeah... very soon.

3. I'm going to try learning how to do and make some of the cool blog-stuffs that some of you savvy people in blogworld make... you know like awards, custom banners, and stuff like that.

So, you see... you'll want to keep checking in here, because there are going to be big things happening...

They Think I'm a Softy

Yesterday, we went to the Thanksgiving get together at the home of my brother-in-law's parents.

After the eating... and eating... and eating...
The men were in the living room discussing and laughing about all the crazy and stupid wild things they did in their younger years. I was sitting at the kitchen table with a couple of the other women. At first we were playing with entertaining the kids with PlayDough. After the kids got bored, and went to another room to play, we packed everything back up into a box and continued to sit around talking.

The kids came back into the kitchen... three of said kids are my three nieces. My oldest niece is going through that "I really don't have to listen stage". She was using a plastic knife and scraping her grandma's tablecloth. I told her to stop because she would cut the tablecloth... she continued... I told her to stop again... she continued... I told her a third time... she looked at me, informed me it was OK, and continued. Finally I said "'Oldest Niece' if you don't stop it right now, Aunt Misty is going to get VERY MAD!"

She looked at me and started laughing as she exclaimed "Yeah right, Aunt Misty never gets mad"

The other adults in the room did their very best to hold back their laughter, while I responded "Yeah, well, you don't want to see the first time!"

Those kids much take me as a big ol' softy of an aunt!

I'm So Unprepared

I've admitted that I usually do my shopping on the internet because I don't care to fight the crowds, especially during the holiday season. Well, even though I've got the stores right at my fingertips, this year, I find myself extremely behind in my shopping.

I don't even know what I'm getting for most people. If I don't know what I'm getting them, that surely means that I don't have a gift for them yet! I'm going to show up to visit my family and not have any gifts for them! This is not good.

Some people will just get gift cards. I'm big on giving out gift certificates for restaurants, electronics stores, and clothing stores. With the cards, people are sure to get exactly what they want. I'm even going to give my best friend a gift card to a store so her two oldest children can pick out their own gifts, and she can use the rest towards some baby bedding for her youngest child.

Here's the worst part. I have NO idea what to get my dad! Seriously, I am at a complete loss for ideas. I have a gift for his wolf, but no gift for my dad! I'm such a loser of a daughter. What do you get someone who doesn't own a TV, radio, or computer? I seriously want to get him a digital camera, because he keeps hinting that he wants one. However, then he will have to take it to someone else to print photos. I honestly have no idea what to do!

Wordless Wednesday

(c) Misty Dawn

I'm Thankful For You...and You... and You

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I wanted to post two special awards that I have received. For, I want to pass them on to my very special blogging friends, who are at the top of my list of things I am thankful for! I'm sure y'all won't be surprised that the beautiful award at the top just has me eager as heck to put it on my blog. It's doggies! I love me some doggies... any kind... any shape... any size... love em... just love em! But, you already knew that, didn't you? That's probably why I received this award twice - both from Tammy at Mom Knows Everything (who has given me a couple more awards recently, which I will post soon) and Sandee at Comedy Plus. They are just going to look absolutely adorable on my blog!

Sandee also gave me this adorable award. I don't think anyone can ever have too many adorable animals decorating their blog. It was kind of funny, because I saw this award at another blog and thought how cute it was (and secretly wished that I would receive it to put on my blog)... and then... Ms Sandee comes through and blesses me with this award.
Click "Read More" for a gift from me to you and the list of who receives these awards.

I posted this poem over at Misty's Words, but that blog doesn't have many readers, so I'm going to post it here to all my friends. Please know how very special you are to me and how thankful I am for this opportunity to discover all of these wonderful friendships.

To My Friends
Whenever you need to be held,
I will hold you.

Whenever you need to believe,
my words to you are always true.

Whenever you need a shoulder
upon to lean your head and cry

Whenever you need to talk
even if you don't understand why

Whenever you are lonely
or feeling very sad

Whenever you need to vent
because you are so mad

When you have a secret
which you need to share

Or when you simply need someone
to show you that she cares

Today, tomorrow, or anytime
you can count on me

No matter how you are feeling
you friend I will always be.
(c) Misty Dawn

Believe it or not, all of the above things can be performed virtually... across the cyber-blogosphere wires. I know, because you have all done these things for me.
Thank you.

I pass these awards on to:

The Lawn Mower Queen
Bubba's Sis
Smalltown RN
The Gal Herself

Each one of you is a special and fantastic individual.

Freeze the Pain

Yes, that's me. Honestly, that is me trying to keep a smile on my face when my body is making me feel like it would probably hurt too much to smile. I honestly don't look that bad all the time. However, I have Fibromyalgia, which is a chronic pain condition. I usually cope quite well with it. But, I have to admit that, sometimes, it gets the best of me. There have been times when I have tried to stand up and cried out in pain. Then, I have to come to the realization that I will not be having a productive day, because I am flaring. On days like that, the simplest of chores can cause me to start crying because everything hurts.

Fortunately, I don't flare very often. However, even when I am not in a flare, there are still parts of my body that refuse to quit hurting. I have one rib in particular which swells up and causes all the surrounding muscles to tighten and knot up. This causes my lower back to ache constantly. Believe it or not, though, I don't take any medication for the pain, because I don't like being dependent on pills. This is why I am very interested in Freeze It Gel. This product is all natural. I became even more interested when I visited their testimonials page on the website. The first two testimonials caught my attention. The first one, is a woman who has Fibromyalgia too. She was definitely singing the praises of Freeze It. The second testimonial is from someone who works at a computer all day and ends up with achy hands and wrists. I definitely encounter those aches quite often too.

I would love to be able to use a natural product which would help take the pain away. Then, maybe I could look like this next photo more often, rather than the haggard look in the first photo!
Freeze It Gel would not only help me with my struggle against chronic pain. It would also help my husband with his lower back pain and his neck pain, which are results of some herniated discs. I would also share some with my dad's girlfriend, because she suffers from Arthritis. Hey, my dog suffers from Arthritis too; I wonder if it helps those with fur.

Seriously though, a product that can stop the pain is an amazing product and a blessing!

If I win the contest and receive some free Freeze It Gel, I'll be back to tell you about all the people I have shared it with and all the different kinds of aches and pains it has remedied!

Heads Or Tails Tuesday *Never Say Never*

One of my favorite bloggers, Skittles has started a Tuesday meme. It is LOTS of fun-so you'll wanna join us right away! If you click on the Heads or Tails logo - it will take you to the post to tell you more about the meme.

This week's topic is a Tails (which means we have to do exactly as the WoW queen says) - Never Say Never. So, we are supposed to tell about something we thought we would never do or say, but now we do/say that.

I never thought I would be as strong of an individual as I am now. I was always the child the whole family watched out for, and I honestly doubted I would make it as an adult on my own, especially 750 miles away from them.

I planned a high-school graduation party for my oldest step-daughter when I was 28 years old. You do the math. My boss asked me "Did you ever think you would be performing parental duties when you were this age?" My reply - "Never"

I survived (and handled quite well) a Winter lambing season which produced approximately 200 lambs. My husband fell very ill, my in-laws were out of state, and I had no other choice. There were many times throughout that situation that I thought to myself "I am never going to make it through this." But, I did. However, I can't take all the credit - I had some fabulous people giving of their time and assistance. LMQ's husband was absolutely a God send, and my neighbors from the farm down the road came to check on me and help each day. And, most importantly, God heard my prayers.

I never thought I would actually have so much pride in any of my 'hobbies', such as my writing and my photography. I never thought family and friends would actually be asking to see more of these creations, because I actually had talent.

I never thought I would handle this move and complete change in life as well as I have.

I also never thought some of the people I considered my best friends would be people whom I had never even met in person.

Oh, of course there are so many more - I never thought I would be divorced. After proving that one wrong, I never thought I would marry again. I never thought I would not have children. I never thought I would survive the loss of my grandparents. I never thought I would be diagnosed with a chronic condition. The list goes on and on.

There are so many things that we say 'never' to. But, when it comes down to it, we do not know which courses and turns out lives will take. There is no way of predicting which situations we will encounter, and, therefore, we cannot honestly predict how we would react when one of those situations come to be.

Trusted Surgeons

I have always said I would like to have plastic surgery on a certain part of my body, if I had the financial means and found a doctor I could trust. Let's face it, most of us have physical attributes we would like to change, but, not only is it expensive, it is also always scary when you consider that you are placing your body in the hands of someone else.

The Trusted Surgeons Network does extensive research to compile a list of doctors who meet their standards and qualify as trusted plastic surgeons. They base their research of the plastic surgeons on three criteria, which include education, certification, and track record. They do not simply list surgeons; they investigate them to make sure they qualify and can be considered as a trusted surgeon.

There are stories in the news all the time about plastic surgery that was not performed properly. Recently, Donda West, the mother of rap star Kayne West, passed away shortly after undergoing some plastic surgery. These situations prove the importance of the services of The Trusted Surgeons Network. Their extensive research helps ensure that, if you are planning to have surgery, you can find a doctor with proper credentials and a good track record whom you can trust.

Thanksmas Today

I just wanted to make a quick post to let y'all know why I have not visited your blogs yet today. Since I usually visit about 50 blogs a day, you may have become expectant of my visit and comments. Well, today is our "Thanksmas" with my in-laws, so they can head out to warmer climate tomorrow or Wednesday.

So, I have made two dozen deviled eggs, three dozen Snickerdoodle cookies, and still need to make the baked beans. I have also printed greeting cards and still need to wrap some gifts.

That's why I haven't been to your blogs yet today. I will possibly be around later tonight, but, if not, I will definitely see you tomorrow!

Give Me Five Monday *Birthdays*

My friend Becca started a new Monday meme called Give Me Five Monday. The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, she will put out a random topic from her list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back to her! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified. Go over to BeccA's Buzz and check it out!

This week's topic is Birthdays. You are supposed to list five things that you do or don't like about your birthday. My birthday is June 26, but Becca's birthday is TODAY!!! So I'm sending out a HUGE birthday wish to Becca. I hope you have the most fabulous day ever Becca!

5 Things I Like/Dislike About My Birthday
1. Hay Season - Dislike
My birthday falls right in the middle of Ohio farmers' hay season. My husband and I would hardly have time or energy to speak to each other, let alone enjoy my birthday together. Hay season is supposed to be much less hectic here in the new state though - at least that is what they are telling me ;-)
2. Molly-Collie - LOVE
For my birthday in 2004, my aunt gave me money for Molly's adoption fee. My great uncle also gave me money towards getting Molly a crate. This photo was taken the day she came to live with us (apparently her adjustment period to get used to us didn't take as long as I expected hehe)
3. Cards
You know me, I love words, sayings, quotes, jokes, poetry... you name it! So, I love the cards I receive for my birthday. It also means so much because you know that person picked that card out specifically for you.
4. Cake!!!
Well... DUH! And I want CHOCOLATE!
5. Corn on the Cob
I LOVE corn, and my absolute favorite is corn on the cob (Oh, I'm drooling just thinking about it!) It was tradition that my great uncle would always bring me a watermelon and some corn on the cob for my birthday (he was a produce farmer).

Happy Birthday Becca! I hope it's Fabulous!
For Becca...

7 Random or Wierd Things About Me

I HAVE to do this meme, because I've been tagged with it THREE times!
I was tagged by Tammy at Mom Knows Everything - have I mentioned that she's my BBFF?
I was also tagged by Novel Happenings - there are some totally awesome dogs on that blog! - Have I mentioned that I like dogs?
AND, I was also tagged by One Gal's Musings - Yup, The Gal Herself tagged me. She's like famous and has her own star and everything. I wonder if she's met Tom Hanks. - Have I mentioned that Tom Hanks is my favorite actor ever? Oh yeah... the meme...

The rules are:
1. You link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. You share 7 facts about yourself: some random, some weird.
3. You tag 7 people at the end of your post and list their names (linking to them).
4. You let them know they've been tagged by leaving a comment at their blogs.

7 Things About Me
  1. One of my little, trivial pet peeves is getting my sleeves wet. You know, like when you're doing dishes or washing your hands and the cuffs of your sleeves get wet - Hate that!
  2. My first nightmare that I can remember was when I dreamed I had been shrunken and fell in a cookie jar and the Cookie Monster from Sesame Street was accidentally going to eat me. I woke up terror stricken and tried to call out for my grandma, but I was so scared, I didn't even have a voice. Somehow though, she sensed I needed her and appeared next to the bed and carried me out to the rocking chair to rock me back to sleep. (Yes, I had a fantastic grandma!)
  3. There's a sound that is made when someone rubs a calloused or rough hand or fingernail across their socks and it snags/catches the fabric (Really, there is a particular sound!). That sounds makes all my nerves go haywire and even makes my teeth hurt. Usually people have this reaction to fingernails on a chalkboard - I have it to fingernails on a sock (Hey, the rules said wierd or random things) My husband and step-son have an absolute ball with this one! They like to watch me cringe and run out of the room.
  4. I used to gamble with my church offering every Sunday before church. Before you gasp with disappointment - let me explain. My great aunt and uncle lived directly across the street from our church. We would visit with them for about an hour every Sunday before crossing the street to go to church. My great uncle is one heck of a guy. You know how we all had that one family member who would teach us things and then say "Don't tell your parents I'm the one who taught you that?" Well, that was my great uncle. He taught me to spit and taught me songs that Grandma wouldn't let me sing. He also would pretend gamble with me every Sunday morning (it was his way of helping me have more money to contribute to our church). Each Sunday, I would arrive at his house with two dollars for the offering - when I left his house to go to church, I would have TEN dollars for the offering :-) (Yes, he's still alive. He's 93 or 94 now and still ornery as ever! Oh, the stories I have of me and him!)
  5. I have my ears pierced, but don't wear earrings because the doctor pierced them crooked. If I keep my head tilted while talking, then they look OK. (yes, Grandma took me to a doctor to have my ears pierced)
  6. I can't stand black licorice. Even the smell of it (anise) makes me gag.
  7. I am very little, but I have very strong hands and am able to give shoulder rubs and massages that make people melt. My cousin says I have the strongest hands of any woman he knows. During the holiday celebrations, they all try to convince me to go around the room giving everyone shoulder rubs.
Tag seven bloggers - I'm going to break the rules here, because I think most people have done this meme. I mean, heck, I know of at least THREE bloggers who have done it, because they tagged me! If you multiply that three times the 6 bloggers (other than me) that each one also tagged - that makes 18 (add me for 19)... add in the other six people who were tagged when those original three were tagged and... oh never mind - you get the point ;-)

So, I expect 7 of my readers who have not done this meme to consider themselves tagged.

Neglectful Winner's AWARDS Ceremony

Yep, that's me, I'm a neglectful winner. Some of my absolutely fabulous friends have honored me with some great awards and tagged me with memes they thought I would enjoy. What have I done to show my appreciation? I've been too caught up in arguing with college advisors, crying over that ignorant rank, and trying to get away from the constant banging, hammering, yellings of "watch out!", and worrying that my husband is going to fall off a roof. I'm such a horrible friend :-( I honestly do love my awards and memes, and I thank you for thinking of me! Just WAIT until you see this ceremony that I've been working on though. I promise you it's quite impressive... (Click "Read more" Click it! Click it!!!)

I received TWO (yep, that's more than one!) awesome awards from one of my new favorite people Ann at A Nice Place In The Sun. Ann is a writer, and I find her blog fun, inspiring, and thought provoking all at the same time! You'll be thanking me for sending you to her blog! She gave me:
This award is Mel at Monday Morning Powers new feel good award for the blogs who display winning attitudes on their blogs! Here are Mels reasons for passing out this award:

" This award seems like a natural given what my site is all about. This award is based on positive thinking and is meant for those blogs who base their existence, in part or in whole, on Positive Winning Attitudes."

I pass this award on to:
Stacey at JameeForever
Linda at Are We There Yet
Tammy at Mom Knows Everything
GiGi at Girl Gone Wild (Bible Style)
Rachel at Soulful Thoughts of Rachel
Holly at Mama Pajama
Carrie at Rantings of a Woman

Ann also gave me this cool award:
This award was created by Mark of MeAndMyDrum, who said that the BeTheBlog phrase stuck in his head from a meme Tish from TheKatHouse sent him about what it means to be a successful blogger.

To quote his words to BeTheBlog, "really sums up what a successful blogger does. And what I mean by successful is that they make it their own, stay with it, are interactive with their readers, and just plain have fun."

I want to pass this on to all of my blogging friends, because all of you work at your blog to make it what it is. Each blog is unique, and you all inspire me. However, I may get in trouble for passing this award on to everyone I know ;-) So, I'll select just a few (although I hate having to do that!)
Bradley at The Egel Nest
David at authorblog
Vic at Cariboo Ponderer
The Gal Herself at One Gal's Musings
Bridget at And Miles To Go Before We Sleep
Tammy at Mom Knows Everything

This post isn't over yet! This is an extra long award ceremony, because...well, I've been neglectful. Carrie at Rantings of a Woman also blessed me with a very beautiful award.
This one is really tough for me to choose who to pass it along to. Do you realize how many fabulous friends I have met through blogging??? I mean seriously! How can I choose?
Early on in blogging, I met and discovered great friendships with:
The Lawn Mower Queen (She's my BF who convinced me to start blogging to begin with!)
Bubba's Sis
But, it doesn't stop there! As I continued blogging, I developed so many more beautiful friendships. Like those with:
Smalltown RN
The Gal Herself
(I'm sure there are many more, and I apologize if I have missed you!!! I'll be pretty gosh darn impressed with myself if I get all these links done and correct before bedtime!) There! I shouldn't get in trouble now, because I was very choosy when passing this award on ;-)

Last, but definitely NOT least (cuz she's my BBFF), Tammy at Mom Knows Everything passed this award on to me:
I'd like to pass this award on to some of the blogs that particularly inspire me or continue to evoke emotion or thought for me.
Bradley at The Egel Nest
David at authorblog
Ann at A Nice Place In The Sun
Sandee at Comedy Plus
JD at The Uneasy Supplicant
Bridget at And Miles To Go Before We Sleep
Janice at Twist & Skewer

Whew!!! How's that for an awards ceremony??? (and a little linky love too hehehe) Going to go hide now, so the award police can't find me.

Money for Repairs

The holiday season is now upon us. So, it's the time of year for all the visiting, shopping, and errand running. However, this isn't going to happen in my vehicle, because it is long over due for an oil change. Plus, ever since the trip out here with my dad when I moved, it hasn't seemed like it is running quite right. This makes me very nervous, because I love my Durango. I've had vehicles I couldn't depend on, and that is not a good feeling. I was constantly wondering if my car was going to get me where I needed to go. I once had a car that would stall once the motor got warm. That always seemed to be right in the middle of rush hour. I'm sure those were hand signals of love from all those people stuck behind me on the road. I finally paid way too much money to get it fixed. Payday Loans are something that I wish I would have known about then, because I wouldn't have stressed as much about the rest of my bills. My current vehicle has been dependable, and that is why I love it so much. Just keep your fingers crossed for me that whatever is wrong isn't too horrible!

Photos Are Transferred

It has been a hectic and crazy day. It feels like I've been doing a dozen things at one time all day long.

The good news is I got my photos off of the camera's memory card. It took me a long time, because the program kept shutting down, but I was persistent and eventually got all the photos transferred to a flash drive. When I was almost done, I discovered one photo that hadn't written to the card correctly and said "file error". Once I deleted that photo, everything seemed to work just fine :-)

I'll post again in a little while to update you on my crazy day. Right now, I need to visit all of your blogs, because I haven't had time to do that yet today.

Random Thoughts, Comments, & Questions

1. I was just messing around and teasing Bradley about the blog banner, because he asked where the cute puppy went. And, to be honest, I had a very hard time taking the puppy photo off. But, it is the holiday season. So, I honestly wanted your input. I'm thinking a trip 'to town' (did that for you Bradley) is in order - certainly they will have little Santa hats and reindeer antlers for sale in stores around here... right? We'll see.

2. Y'all thought I was kidding about my speech audience members having four legs???

3. Do you realize how cold my bathroom is right now?

4. Now, they have the addition part almost completely enclosed with plywood. So, now, as the cat sits outside the bedroom/bathroom door and carries on... she echoes. It's kinda creepy (Yes, LMQ - It's Mokey, and, yes she IS pregnant again!).

5. If you are wondering about the above comment - my cat has the ability to make friends before we are even moved in yet. I think she was calling them as she traveled down the road - "Watch out Missouri, Mokey has arrived." She's a bit of a tramp. Scary thing is, she seems rather proud of it.

6. I woke up this morning to the sound of my husband's truck. I realized he was heading to town to the hardware store (again), so I ran outside in my sheep slippers to wave to him (since we haven't actually communicated for days). He jumped out of the truck and came running. My heart leaped as I thought he was running to give me a good morning kiss. He got to the porch and... looked deep into my eyes... and.... said.... "I need the checkbook." Gosh, It's like right directly out of a romance novel, isn't it?!?!

7. I can't get any photos off of my memory stick for my camera. Of course, I'm a slacker and have photos on there from August! I can't talk about this much longer, or I'll have a heart attack. I'm praying it's just the card reader that is messed up! Literally. I'm praying. For Real.

8. I've also been a miserable and rotten slacker when it comes to blog awards and memes. Some of you have been so considerate and thoughtful to give me some fabulous awards and tag me with some fun memes. I promise to take care of those posts tomorrow. I've just been... well... slacking. Please, forgive me.

I've got the chance to go to sleep early tonight - I better take advantage of it (especially considering that the pounding and banging seems to be starting earlier each morning). Talk to all of you, my wonderful blogging friends, tomorrow! Love ya!

Banner Poll

Since Bradley from The Egel Nest left me a comment pouting and throwing a temper tantrum asking why I took away his beloved puppy photo in my banner, I decided to post a poll. I guess I should have been more considerate of my reader's feelings... I mean, my taking that puppy photo away, would be like... like if Bradley stopped posting photos of that most gorgeous, adorable, and irresistible Sammy. I must admit, that would send me into tantrums. Besides, that puppy photo has come be define my blog - like a logo. So, maybe I should put that puppy right back where she was and figure out another way to 'Christmasfy' my blog (although the green grass and daffodils in the photo don't really go with a Winter/Christmas theme). You, my readers, have expressed how much you like that photo, and hey, I'm here to make sure you are happy when you visit my blog. So, I will revert back to Miss Maggie May's photo until you all have spoken. Cast your vote in the poll on my sidebar. Whatever you decide - that's what it will be :-)

Oh yes, I was totally and completely stammering my way through a phone conversation just a minute ago. I called my academic advisor for... well... advice. I'm outta my comfort zone here, because I have never needed help or advice from the higher-ups at the college so far. None.

Six classes (14 credit hours), working 7 hours a day, packing up all of our belongings, preparing 100-years worth of farm accumulation for an auction, entertaining out-of-state in-laws, dealing with the emotions of leaving my family and friends behind... this was me during this past Spring Semester. I got through it and maintained my 4.0, but I just about ran myself into the ground.

Now, I'm at a point where I'm not sure what I should do. You see, there are several classes I could prepare portfolios for in an attempt to receive experiential (life) credit. However, I don't have those portfolios prepared yet. Other than those classes, I have two classes left to take. One of which is speech online. How do you take speech online, you ask? Well, you have to arrange for an audience of at least 3-4 people to attend each one of your speeches. Then, they have to be video taped, and you mail them to the instructor. As I stammered my way through this 'asking for help and advice' phone call, I couldn't help myself - I asked if my audience members could have four legs. "What?" my advisor asks. "Well," I replied, "If I can give my speeches to cows and dogs, then I'm all set with my audience. Otherwise, I'm going to have some issues."

Too Many Emotions

I had a post typed out. No, I had six two posts typed out, and I deleted them. I am feeling so many emotions right now, and to type everything that is swirling around in my head and my heart would end up with my writing a book.
1. I am thankful - I am thankful for my support group of certain family members and friends, who love me and believe in me no matter what. And, just as important, I am thankful for the internet, which has allowed me to connect with people and make some amazing friendships I would have never had the chance of discovering without the ability to reach across these invisible lines which span the whole world and turn on my computer each morning to eagerly visit my favorite people and read their thoughts and messages. Which leads me to being thankful for you... and you... and you... I love, love, love blogging and the people I have met. This is honestly a dream come true for me. I may sound sappy right now, but I honestly don't care. I'm just stating how I feel.
2. I'm scared - I now have a page rank of 0 - Yes, that's a ZERO. I know it's just a number, and it shouldn't matter. However, I have honestly reached a point in my life where I can earn an income and enjoy every minute of it. I love writing and photography. I love connecting to people throughout the world. I have been so happy and thankful for this opportunity. And, now, I'm afraid that it was just as I had feared - too good to be true. I may be wrong... it may change (yet, again)... but, then again... it may not. I feel like I was this close... I actually had those who doubt me believing that I could do this. Now, again, I may have to swallow my pride and my words. I've been giving in to others for so long, and it feels so good to be choosing for me - finally.
3. I'm tired - Today was my registration date for my college courses, but I didn't register. What was I thinking? I'm not sure. Yes, I am sure - but I was thinking many, many things, and a call to my academic advisor went unanswered. So, I just allowed myself to quit thinking about it. I've become pretty good over the past year at allowing myself to quit thinking about things. It may sound bad, but honestly, it isn't. I have always stressed about things so much that it was unhealthy. So, in all actuality, the fact that I've allowed myself to just 'quit thinking' about things may be healthy for me.
4. I'm angry and hurt - but I don't like to dwell on that - so I'm not going to allow it.
5. I'm thankful. Yes, I know I already said that - but I feel it so strongly that it deserves to be repeated.
THANK YOU to all of you who read my words, look at my photos, listen to my BS, laugh at my corny or embarrassing stories... Because all of it - all of it is encouragement and friendship. I honestly thank you with every bit of my being.
I could keep typing and rambling, but I must go to sleep now. The pounding on walls and roof comes awfully early in the morning.

I'm Thankful Beyond Words

Yesterday and today, I have been feeling extremely depressed. Then, several people reached out to me, which showed me how much I am loved. Their acts of kindness meant more to me than I can possibly express in words.

First, I received a package from the mailman yesterday. My dad's girlfriend had sent me a book entitled "The Power of Simple Prayer" by Joyce Meyer. She also included a very special note explaining that this book had helped her through some tough times, and she wanted to send it to me for some emotional support. She told me that she and my dad think I am doing an outstanding job adjusting to the multitude of changes in my life. She even called me a special and caring person who has what it takes to 'stay the course'. If you could see the tears streaming down my face right now, you would know how much this act of love means to me!

Then, today, the UPS man showed up at my door. Aunt J (the fabulous aunt whom I have mentioned many times before) sent me a box containing THREE containers of my favorite chip dip! This is Lawson's Chip Dip, and you can only get it at certain stores, which we, of course, do not have in this state. Again, this act of love - letting me know that she was thinking of me and that I mean enough to her to do this for me - well, it made me cry again (Gosh, I'm turning into such a mushy sap!). I got online and thanked her via instant messenger, and she told me that she sent enough so I could share, if I wanted to. Ummmm, yeah, of course I planned on sharing (*running to the fridge to hide the containers WAY in the back so no one knows where they are*).

And, to top it off, I received an e-mail from PayPal telling me that a fellow blogging friend sent me a donation towards my camera fund. I couldn't believe my eyes. I'm not going to mention a name, because I don't want to put that very considerate person on the spot. I just wanted to express how much that meant to me, especially with the way I have been feeling emotionally.

I am so blessed to have people who love me and some very special friends. I feel a bit guilty for feeling alone and sorry for myself these past few days. There have been some things said to me, which made me feel very inadequate and hurt. However, I should just take the time to realize the blessings of love and kindness that are shown to me, rather than focusing on the negative. Yes, I am spoiled. I am spoiled with so much love (sometimes more than I think I deserve). I only hope that I make my family and friends know how much I love them and how important they are to me. I pray for that every night. I learned a long time ago to not take people for granted, and I pray that I have never made anyone doubt what they mean to me.

Wordless Wednesday

(Christmas morning, 2004)
(c) Misty Dawn
This was both Molly and Tag's first Christmas with us.
At first, they wondered what the heck their silly mommy was doing now with all this stuff wrapped in paper which she kept trying to get them to rip off. They were quite wary at first because they had already been told to stay away from the tree a hundred times leading up to that morning. After they got all of their presents though, they decided this Christmas thing was pretty cool.
** I realize that this is "Wordless Wednesday", but I had to add "3-5 sentences" to it so it would be acceptable for the next post. At least when I originally posted it, it was wordless ;-)

Forewarning of Blog Changes

I feel that I must forewarn you that there are going to be some changes to this blog. No, there won't be any changes to the content. You see, here's the deal -

The holiday season is now upon us. Trust me, I know. I will be celebrating Thanksgiving AND Christmas with some of my in-laws one week from yesterday. Oh yes, this coming Monday will be our "ThanksMas". That's what my father-in-law named it. I love that man more than words can express. That's one of the only reasons I do not protest this "Thanksmas" which causes me to think about and do Christmas shopping way too early. You see, my mother- and father-in-law go to warmer climate and friends each year, completely equipped with their beautiful 'house-on-wheels' (what I call their motor home). My father-in-law has Parkinson's Disease, and the cold weather terribly bothers him. Therefore, he does his very best to convince his wife and everyone else that we should celebrate Christmas earlier each year to enable him to get to the warm weather sooner. At first, we celebrated Christmas a few weeks early. Then, we celebrated Christmas on Thanksgiving (hence the name "Thanksmas"). This year, my father-in-law did his best to convince us to move the Thanksgiving AND Christmas celebrations ahead all the way to Halloween, but he didn't win out on that. Hmmmmm... what would that be??? Hallowanksmas??? Nah, I'm not real comfortable with the sounds of that.

Anyway, my BBFF (Yes, I typed that right - B.B.F.F.) Tammy and I decided that we would start a new fun tradition with each other. We searched the internet high and low to find Christmas animations, blinkies, and clip art which we thought the other would love, and we sent them in an e-mail to each other. This way, we can decorate our blogs for Christmas with the beautiful decorations that our BBFF sent :-) Isn't that a Major Cool tradition we started??? I'm seriously thinking this is going to be something I look forward to each and every year! Not to mention that Tammy is completely obsessed loves Christmas.

Besides, I am not going to be able to decorate my home for Christmas this year. So, she thought I should at least be able to decorate my blog (It is my second home, ya know). SO, that's what we are doing. This blog will be hip-hoppin and all decked-out for Christmas very soon!

I hope you like it - I just wanted to forewarn you... ya know, since the cute little spring puppy banner must be changed ;-)

I've been sending e-mails back and forth with several blogging friends lately regarding monetizing your blog. I've actually made a list for myself, because I'm a list addict. This helps me keep track of the places I have applied to and the new places I have heard of, because I am always looking for new and creative ways to make money with the internet.

I've noticed that many of my other blogging friends have recently signed up with bloggerwave which is another company that brings advertisers and bloggers together. Bloggerwave hopes to become Europe's biggest advertising media on blogs. It's free to sign up and register your blog. So, what have you got to lose?

Heads Or Tails Tuesday *Road*

One of my favorite bloggers, Skittles has started a Tuesday meme. It is LOTS of fun-so you'll wanna join us right away! If you click on the Heads or Tails logo - it will take you to the post to tell you more about the meme.

This week's topic is Heads-Road. As most of you know, I go for daily photo walks. For this week's theme, I'm going to introduce you to the many critters I have met either on the road, or along the road. Be patient with me, because I've made lots of critter-friends out here :-)
There actually a story that goes with this guy. Actually, there are stories that go with many of these critters, but I'll just share this one. I'm sure you aren't surprised I have a story for you ;-)
If you have come to know me well through my writing, my photography, and my passions, you'll be able to picture this scenario:

picture this...
I take this guy's photo and continue on my walk. In a little while, I hear a car coming. OH NO (Misty thinks) MY Cool Capallilar (That's what I used to tell my Grandma they were). Misty is sprinting down the road, through the ditch, hanging on to her camera with one hand, praying out loud her new-found buddy doesn't get squashed. Can you picture it?? Any of you who know me well can definitely picture this. So - would I throw myself in front of a moving vehicle to prevent this guy from getting squashed? Probably... but, I didn't have to, because by the time I made it to where he was, out of breath, and thankful he was ok - well, by that time, he had made it across the road. Slowly, but surely - he was determined on his journey, and he made it. I was going to pick him up and put him in the ditch, but I realized he had made it this far, so it was important for him to make it the rest of the way on his own. So, I stood over him, so the passing vehicle wouldn't even come close to him ; -) Ahh, crisis avoided! Hey, I don't care, I'm already known around here as "The Crazy Little Lady Who Always Carries The Big Camera" - so, I might as well give the name some justice :-)
