Forget About Me?

I'm here (finally)! I've missed you all terribly... to the point of going through some major withdrawals from visiting all of you!

Where do I start?
Thursday morning, at approximately 7 a.m., our electric went out. That wouldn't be such a big deal, except for the fact that we have electric heat and didn't have a generator readily available. Thursday night was a loooooong and cccccold night! I slept in three pairs of sweat pants, three longsleeve shirts (one of which was a hooded sweatshirt, and I had the hood on my head all night long), socks AND slippers, with three blankets on top of me! Did I mention that it was quite ccccccold? Friday morning, I got up and went to town... I had a lot of errands to run... one of which was to pay my electric bill HA!!! How ironic! I spent as long as I could in the warm electric company, bank, and little department store... I think they were getting ready to throw me out. I kept using my cell phone to call my house while hoping the answering machine would pick up, which would mean our electric was back on... no such luck.

So, I finally went home... I had finally reached the breaking point... I was shivering, and I couldn't decide if I wanted to be mad and curse or if I just wanted to cry... I get like that when I'm tired and cold. So, Hubs got home, and we went to my in-law's house to spend the night there (their electric was on). They are in warmer climate for the Winter, so we were just 'borrowing' their warm house for the night.

I booted up their computer... which took FOR-EV-ER... because I desperately needed to work on eight assignments for a final exam which is due tomorrow. After the computer finally booted up, Hubs asked if he could use it for a minute. While he was on the computer, I thought I would be a smart a**, and I called our house... I about passed out when our answering machine picked up!!! I went down the hall exclaiming "Stupid Murphy's Law!!!" Hubs asked, "What?" I said "Well, I just heard my cute and sexy voice on our answering machine." It took him a little bit (he can be slow sometimes) but then it clicked... You mean we have electric now??? Yes, Dear, we have electric now. So, I took a shower at his aunt's house (next door), and we packed everything back up and came home.

I was not meaning to neglect everyone yesterday, but I really needed to focus my attention on those assignments for the final exam... submitted the last assignment today (Yay for me!) Then, I needed to print out some transfers so I can make 15 tote bags tomorrow to take with us. I also had to make my BBFF's Christmas present (Shhhhhh don't tell her! Oh... she reads my blog??? Are you sure??? Oh well... maybe she won't know who my BBFF is hehehe), and I've got lots of preparations to do for the trip! And, we have to throw into the mix the fact that my laptop finally died... D.I.E.D. died... it's done. So, I'm using the eight year old desktop, which is all set up the way Hubs wants it, and it takes me forever to get it situated for me.

I've got TONS more photos, but I imagine after the last post, you have probably had enough of looking at ice photos for awhile.

Anyway - I just wanted to let you know that I'm here. I probably won't have much time to visit many blogs, due to getting ready for the trip and then leaving for the trip, but I will do my best to sneak in here any chance I get! After Christmas, it will be back to normal (I hope... I truly hope)!

I also want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to send me an e-mail to check on me! I truly appreciate that! The friendships I have discovered through blogging are absolutely priceless to me - you all mean SO much!

I really like that picture too.

That photo is wonderful. I love the way the light is shining on it (or is the light shining through it?)

Anyway, glad you're back and that you have electricity again. Sorry about the computer though. I hate using our desk top!

Tammy

I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! If the power stays on I'll be online later. LOVE YA Dork!!!!

Terri

Yay! Welcome back... got your email, but haven't had a chance to "e" you back. Guess we could call this the reply! Good to know all is well in "ice" land. We're under a foot of new snow and it's still falling. Yuck! I love the picture... the birds don't seem to mind the ice like we do.

Anna

I'm glad to hear you're OK and that you got your electricity back. Crazy how we've come to depend on that, isn't it?

I'm also very proud of you for controlling your urge to visit your friends' blogs and finishing your school assignments instead. :P

Marcus Langford Is The Name

Great to have you back Misty and I am glad that you survived the ice storm.

Glad you survived....I was wondering where you had been, but then thought you might be one who got stuck in the power outage....we need to consider a generator here too, but our heat is propane.

Welcome back Misty. I know exactly what you went through. Been in that situation a few times already.
Beautiful shot. Love it.
Good luck on your assignments!
Happy Holidays! Take care.

Mist, figured your electricity was out--I hate those cold nights. We only went one night without it, and it was mostly as we slept. Sorry you went through that, but glad you're up and going again. xo

I am so glad your electricity is on and you're warm again. Being extra, extremely, can't get rid of the cold cold is absolutely miserable. It's good you guys had somewhere to go.

Oh no! What happened with the laptop? What is it with these things? The battery on mine died died and I didn't realize it until one day when I unplugged it to go into the living room from the office... needless to say, everything was lost! Shouldn't there be a warning bell or something! :-)

Smalltown RN

I have been thinking about all my blogging friends out your way who got hit by that nasty storm....we have been watching it on the news....pretty crazy.....we have just been suffering from high winds...at least when our power goes out...which is often in the winter...we have our generator, fireplace....so I am lucky that way....glad you are back....hope you get all your assignments done...good luck...

The Gal Herself

I'm glad you're ok! I'm going through the same thing in my area too, ice storms, snow storms, power off and on, I'm getting used to being snowbound!

Hugs and Happy Holidays! :)

I absolutely love your photographs. I also like your, what is it called? The picture at the top of the page.

I called my daughter this morning and she was moaning about the weather. I told her that when the winds pick up here, it seems that the next day all sorts of snow and ice hits her area. I told her the next time the winds howl and the temperatures drops I will call and warn her. It seems that I need to post it on my blog so everyone will know.

Glad to hear your electricity is on.

Happy Holidays.
