Happy New Year

Although I can't believe that tomorrow starts a whole new year...
although I can't figure out where the heck 2008 went to so fast...
although Hubs and I aren't doing anything special to celebrate...
although I didn't even realize that we don't have a roast to make with sauerkraut...
although I don't make resolutions...
although the holidays this year, just didn't seem the same for me...

After your Victorinox Swiss Army watches read Midnight tonight,
it will be the beginning of a whole new year!

I wish you a year full of good health, dreams come true, goals accomplished, special memories created, loving moments, and everything you could wish for...
I wish for you to have the very best year you've ever had!
And... I look forward to spending time with you and sharing the year of 2009 with all of you, my very special friends!

Heads or Tails *Watch*

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is HEADS -"Watch".

While I was visiting Ohio in November, I felt very welcomed at my dad's (and wolf-boyfriend's) home...

Yet...

I kept getting the strange feeling that I was constantly being...

Watched...

What did you say? Watched? What?

You feel like you are being watched? Seriously?

Why would you think that? For the life of me, I can't figure out why you would think that.

(c) Misty DawnS

I really can't understand what the problem is. Why in the world would you think you are being watched?

You must just be paranoid, cuz, anyone can see that you aren't being watched.
(c) Misty DawnS

Geesh - some people really have paranoid issues, I guess.

I'd tell you about some great deals on guaranteed issue life insurance, but I'm too busy trying to figure out why I feel like I'm being watched...

Camera-Critters #38

I was very, very excited when I heard that those who predict the weather were saying we would have temperatures reaching around 57 degrees (Fahrenheit) Friday! Considering the fact that, earlier in the week, we had wind chill advisories for two days due to wind chills of -20 to -30, this promise of a warmer day sounded exciting. I immediately started making plans of all the photo-walks I would take.

My plans, however, didn't work out. We.Had.Fog. And I mean F.O.G. - the 'you-can-cut-it-with-a-knife' type of fog. The fog was so thick you could hardly see a few feet in front of you. On the one walk I did take, I was rather nervous knowing that if a vehicle came down the road, the driver would not see me until almost upon me.

I may have been disappointed by the turn of events, but I noticed a particular critter was rather abundant wherever I turned...

Can you see them both???

Yep, pairs of my late grandmother's favorite bird species seemed to be having fun playing Hide And Seek in the fog. (...and I was stomping my foot and pouting like a child, because I knew my photos would turn out disappointing)

Heads or Tails *This Time of Year*

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is TAILS -"This Time of Year".

Sorry, I don't have a photo for you for this HoT, because I'm at work. I left early to head to work, in order to beat the Winter storm which is predicted to start in about 45 minutes. (but just because it isn't expected until 45 minutes from now, doesn't mean it won't start sooner) Which leads me to what I most dislike about this time of year...

The weather!!! No, I should clarify that... it's not the "weather" in itself... it's driving in the bad weather... that's what I dislike most about this time of year.

I'm sorry to be a 'downer', but I'm just being honest here. Driving in bad Winter weather scares the heck outta me! I don't mind driving in the snow so much anymore, because I have 4-wheel drive, but the ice.......... UGH I hate ice!!! There is NO driving on ice... you don't drive on ice, you simply slide on ice. *sigh*

I'm very, very lucky (and relieved and grateful) though, because at my new job, everyone is very, very understanding, and their motto about driving in bad weather is "It isn't worth the risk". Have I mentioned I love my new job and the people I work with?

What do I like most about this time of year?
Time spent with friends and family...
the lights...
the decorations...
the music...
the love...
the food (just keepin' it real here)...
the time off work (see parenthesis above hehe)...

and taking time to remember the real 'reason for the season'.

Happy Christmas Eve Eve Everyone!

It's Cold and That's An Understatement

(c) Misty DawnS

The photo above is from last year's ice storm. Why don't I provide you with a current photo of the ice storm we had this week? I'll tell you why...

Because...

It is too dang cold!

Lemme tell ya about my week (since I'm sure you're just dying to hear about it).

On Tuesday, we had a Winter (snow) storm. I was sent home from my new job at 1:30 pm. The ride home usually takes me between 35 and 40 minutes. I got in my front door at 3:00 pm.

I went to work on Wednesday and was informed that an ice storm was in the forecast, and it was expected to start late morning/early afternoon on Thursday. Therefore, they told me to not bother coming in to work on Thursday, because I would get there, then the ice storm would hit, and they didn't want me attempting to drive home in an ice storm. Sooooo...

I stayed home Thursday... and waited for the ice. And, I waited... and waited... and waited some more. NO ice?!?! At 5:50 pm (the time I would have been walking through the door after a day at work), the ice started. HELLO!!! That's not exactly "late morning"! Which means I miss a day of work I didn't need to miss... which means I missed a day of pay we desperately did not need to miss!

So, the ice storm proceeded throughout Thursday night and into Friday morning. Friday morning, the roads were a solid sheet of ice. Finally, after fretting about how we could not afford for me to miss more work, Hubs took me to work and then visited his great-aunt at the hospital and perused some stores until it was time to pick me up from work.

NOW - we have severe wind chill advisories... and, trust me, the wind is blowing, and, in case I haven't mentioned it...

It's dang cold!

Yes, I think wind chill temperatures of -25 F (-31.67 C) qualifies as...

DANG COLD!!!

This week's theme is Heads-"Anything Round".

So, I give you this photo of some ornaments hanging 'round someone's Christmas tree. I ask you to look at the three round bulbs in the middle / top of the photo. Then I ask you to tell me what's wrong with this picture...

(c) Misty DawnS

Give up???

OK, I'll tell you what's wrong with this picture...
1. This Christmas tree is in Missouri, and those are Ohio State and a Cleveland Browns round bulbs. (hehe you can take the girl out of the state, but you can't take the state outta the girl, I guess)

2. This is the worst thing about the above photo... there's NO Cleveland Indians ornament!!!!!!!!

Fuel for the Fibro

I've got so much to do!
I've already done several loads of laundry, washed dishes, and made cookies for a Christmas party (Yes, after all the holiday treats, a lot of people will be looking for the best diet pill). However, even after doing all that, I still have so much left I need to do.

Right now, I should be rearranging clothes in my bedroom. I need to get out all my dress clothes, because I start my new job tomorrow. However, I just can't get up the energy. My body is really, really sore today. It's probably the Fibro rearing its ugly head... stress, worry, and strong emotions often get the Fibromyalgia all stirred up, and then it starts making me feel like I've been run over by a truck.

I've been on an emotional roller coaster ride with the excitement of the Ohio trip, the devastating news of my aunt's cancer, the preparation for interviews, the waiting for news after the interviews, the excitement of getting the new job, worrying about driving to work for my first day with the possibility of a Winter storm hitting tonight... etc., etc., etc. Yep, that's enough to feed the Fibro Monster.

I need to find a calm and happy 'place'. I'm thinking a nice warm shower and then visits to the many Camera-Critters throughout the world is just what the doctor would order. ;-)

Camera-Critters #36

Santa, preparing for the big night, called some of the crew
together for a meeting.
In attendance were:
Molly aka Santa's Helper
Taggy the Black & White Reindeer
and
Maggie May aka Tiny Elf
(c) Misty DawnS

Finally, Santa called the meeting to order,
and the crew came to attention.
Santa's Helper complained that, just because he has antlers,
Taggy the Black & White Reindeer thinks
he can push everyone around.
Taggy the Black & White Reindeer responed
that he could, in fact, push everyone around
and he would, in fact, push everyone around.
And, if someone didn't like it, he'd show them
right out the door, with his great reindeer herding instincts.
Finally, Santa had heard enough and told them both that
they were going on his LIST!
Meanwhile...
(c) Misty DawnS

Tiny Elf wondered...

Do ya think they're distracted enough for me to eat this hat?

Big News, Random Thoughts, & Other Stuff

I've got news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All of your good wishes and support worked!!!

I was officially offered a new job, and I'm super relieved, excited, and happy! Not only is this a position which will allow me to reach for my potential and learn new things... I will also receive absolutely fantastic benefits! I can NOT begin to tell you how wonderful this is for me!

Now for some random thoughts...

Yesterday, I started decorating my house for Christmas. My tree is up but doesn't have any ornaments on it, because I need to find extension cords for the lights first.

My favorite Christmas decoration I own is my "Fishing Santa" that my cousin got for me the Christmas right before we moved.

I need to decorate my blog for Christmas... ummmm... immediately!

I'm strongly considering starting one of those 'photo-a-day' blogs for 2009. You think I should?

I'm super-duper excited I'll be here to spend Christmas and New Years with y'all! WooooHooo

Camera-Critters #35

Most of you know that on the Friday before Thanksgiving, I flew back to Ohio to see my family. On the day I flew to the Cleveland airport, Cleveland was expected to receive one to two feet of snow. I, of course, did not know this, because I was up in an airplane completely oblivious to the fact that my two dads were driving 25 miles per hour on treacherous interstates so they could come and get me.

What? Oh, you're wondering about the 'my two dads' part, aren't you? Well, you see - I have my original dad... aka my first dad... aka the one who played a part in my creation ;-) Then, I have my "second dad"... he's one of my dad's best friends, and I love him more than words can express.... So, I claim him as my second dad ;-)

OK, back to the originally scheduled post...

Anyway... they made it to the airport, my plane landed, I jumped in the car with my two dads, and I probably didn't stop smiling for nine days :-D

We went back to Second Dad's house, hung out and visited for awhile, my Second Dad gave me some of his homemade pickled beets (yummmmm), we talking about remodeling stuff like how to install Danze faucets (both my dads do remodeling work), and then Dad (the original Daddy) and I left to head back to his house.

Just down the road from Second Dad's house, I saw this and said, "Dad look!"

(c) Misty DawnS

Turkeys.
No, I didn't just call you guys turkeys!
In the photo... in the field...
See...
They're turkeys!
Lots of em!

Guess someone forgot to tell them that
Thanksgiving was less than a week away!

Hectic and Hurried

Holy cow! Things will get back to 'normal' right?

Here I thought, I'd get home from visiting with my family, bore you all to tears with stories of my visits, overwhelm you with a multitude of wolfdog photos, and probably causing you to pray that I'd just go back again so I would shut up.

However, none of that has happened (except for the wolfdog photos). Heck, I don't even have my photos off of my camera's memory card yet! Things have been hectic all week, and I am definitely ready for the weekend! SERIOUSLY ready for the weekend... and Camera-Critters (woohoo)!

A couple days ago, I asked for your good thoughts and wishes, and I explained that I couldn't explain yet. Hmmmn, that didn't make much sense did it? Well, anyway, I still can't explain yet, but I need your good thoughts and wishes again today, please. I'll fill y'all in with an explanation as soon as possible. If it all works out... get out the tuxedos and the gowns, cuz we'll be having a blog celebration!!!

Heads or Tails *Shine*

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is Heads-"Shine".

(c) Misty DawnS

This photo was from last year's ice storm. So, no, you don't need to worry about me. We haven't had anything close to an ice storm (yet). Although, the day I flew to Cleveland, they were expecting to receive one to two FEET of snow in Cleveland that day.

Anyway, I thought this photo was appropriate for the theme of "shine".

By the way, Hubs is now saying I'm a jinx. He explains that it was very nice weather here all last week... until it was time for me to come home. Then it started snowing and weather warnings were issued. Hmmm... maybe I am a jinx? I dunno.

I'm home now and trying to get back into the swing of things.
By the way... I have something happening tomorrow, which is quite important to me. I can't really talk about it just yet, but I would still appreciate some good thoughts and wishes (and you can keep your fingers crossed too). I promise to fill you in on the details soon.

Camera-Critters #34

(c) Misty DawnS

I love, love, love this photo. hehe This is actually a photo of the side mirror on my dad's truck, and, of course, Matouk is in the back. Don't ask me why I'm so crazy about this photo, but as soon as I saw it, I immediately loved it.

Please forgive me for the lack of sign-in on last week's CC, and also please forgive me for posting CC late today. Honestly, I didn't realize that it was even Saturday. My schedule is way out of whack. After getting home from shopping with my aunt, I opened my e-mail and Tammy reminded me that it was Saturday and I hadn't opened Camera-Critters. If y'all haven't given up on me yet, I promise next weekend will be back to normal.

Happy Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish everyone a very special and happy Thanksgiving. I miss you all, and I hope you have a memorable and wonderful holiday.

Missing Already

I'm not doing a Sky Watch post this week. So, instead, you have to put up with another one of my rambling posts about my time with my dad and the wolf. Don't worry, after Sunday, I'll find other things to post about.

Today is the first night that I am spending away from my dad and the wolf since I arrived here on Friday. It didn't take long for their routine to become my routine, and I loved every minute of it. It also didn't take long for Matouk to decide that I was a part of the pack and that I belonged right there with him... every day... every hour... so he could always watch over me :-) Tonight, I'm missing them both like mad. Don't get me wrong, I love my aunt, whom I'm staying with now. She means the absolute world to me. But, it's my daddy, and it's taking every bit of strength I have to keep from calling him to come and get me so I can stay with them. Yes, even at 33 years of age, I am such a helpless daddy's girl!

I talked to Dad on the phone tonight, and he told me that Matouk is basically doing what he's doing in the above photo. No, he's not pondering alli research, he's laying on the couch where I slept and staring out the window waiting for me. *sigh* I MISS them already!!!

Wednesday, November 26, 2008

WooooHoooo

(c) Misty DawnS

Hi everyone!!!

You miss me?

I miss you all, but I must admit, I'm lovin' having this time with my dad and Matouk. I was a bit concerned about how Matouk would react to my showing up and staying in his place. It is always just "Dad and Touk", and I was concerned he would worry I was trying to interfere. Those concerns, however, were quickly tossed aside. For, Matouk hasn't stopped giving me kisses yet, and he doesn't want to let me out of his sight. He lays up against me and howls as if he is letting the whole world know that I am his girl, and, then, he finishes his 'song' by giving me lots and lots of kisses and looking into my eyes like "I love you Mist".

I've tried to explain to Hubs that I MUST stay here much longer than expected for the wolf's sake, but, for some odd reason, Hubs just isn't buying my reasoning.

Well, I'll let you get back to your holiday preparations, such as preparing meals, buying presents, and joining a wine of the month club. Talk to you again soon!

HAPPY
THANKSGIVING!

Camera-Critters #33

Essssscuuuuse Me...
Does anyone know where our Mommy went?
We've been looking for her,
but Daddy just keeps saying,
"She'll be home in a few days."
(c) Misty DawnS

Daddy said Mommy took a ride in a big thing that
flies in the sky, kinda like a bird.
(c) Misty DawnS

Silly Daddy, I've chased and herded enough birds to know that
none of them are big enough to carry my Mommy away!
We try not to let them feel bad that we're smarter than they.

Stop the Ride, Please

I have been on such an emotional roller coaster for the past few weeks. I'm completely exhausted... emotionally and physically.

At one point, I am absolutely jumping for joy, dancing around the room, unable to contain myself, ecstatic. For once, this excitement isn't about Fentraphen, it is because I am going to Ohio and going to see my family. I am looking forward to time with my dad, the wolf, my aunt, and cousins more than words can say.

At other points, I am a mumbling fool with tears streaming down my face because my heart is breaking for my aunt, her husband, my cousins, and the rest of us. Our family isn't the 'see your extended family once every few years and forget it' type. In our family, it has always been a matter of we MUST see each other every year, or we can't deal. Since I was raised by my grandparents, rather than aunts, uncles, and cousins, these relatives were more like second moms, dads, and siblings to me. OK, let's change he subject - I'm crying again, and I've got to leave for work in a little bit.

HEY, I've been interviewed by PetDoc.com. My interview is supposed to be posted on their homepage today. It isn't there yet, but when it is, I'd be thrilled to hear what y'all think.

Financial Help When You Need It Most

Have you ever just finished paying all the bills for the month, only have enough money remaining to just get you through until the next payday, and then have a major appliance breakdown and require immediate repair?

Or, perhaps you have written checks to pay all the bills for the month, and then your spouse comes home and informs you that you have less money in your checking account than you thought, and you are now faced with the possibility of checks bouncing and racking up those dreaded insufficient funds charges?

Or, for a third scenario, your only vehicle breaks down, and it simply has to be repaired, because you rely on that one and only vehicle to get you to work?

Have you ever needed medical services which were required to be paid upfront?

These are all situations where Payday Loans can help a bad situation get better, and Payday One is a U.S. based lending company that can help you get the money you need within 24 hours. You simply apply online with their secure loan application. What makes Payday One different than other payday loan companies? You benefit from their great rate guarantee, convenience of applying online rather than standing in line or needing a fax machine, and if your credit score is low, that's not a problem.

What really impresses me about Payday One is they don't just try to convince you to get a loan you can't afford like some companies do. On their website, they provide a section of reasons why you may require and benefit from such a loan, and they also give you advice as to when you should not apply for a payday loan and even provide ideas to help you avoid needing to borrow money. It is their dedication to their customers which sets them apart and has caused them to be the leading provider of payday loans over the internet for the past six years.

So, even though I certainly hope that none of the above mentioned scenarios happen to any of you, it certainly is a relief to know where to turn if an emergency does occur.

Below is a video of a testimonial from a satisfied customer. He not only was impressed with the convenience and speedy reply he received, he was also impressed by the excellent customer service.

I've had a secret for a little while... I am going to Ohio on Friday and will be there during Thanksgiving week. I was keeping quiet about it, because I wanted to surprise my dad and my aunt who raised me.

Well, I have now told them both that I'm going to be there, because we've received some very bad news in our family. You see, I only have two aunts, and they are twins. I lived with my grandparents and aunt, and my other aunt lived in Michigan.

My aunt who lived in Michigan has just been told she has cancer in her pancreas and liver. It is inoperable. They will start her on chemotherapy to try to slow it down, and they will put her on medication for the pain. Her four children (my cousins) are all making arrangements to go spend time with her. The youngest of her four children recently had a baby, which made her a grandma for the first time.

The responsible and logical part of me knows that these things happen...
But, for right now, I'm letting the whiny part of me vent. Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair.

Give Me Five Monday *Grocery Staples*

Becca started a Monday meme called Give Me Five Monday. The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, she will put out a random topic from her list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back to her! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified. Go over to BeccA's Buzz and check it out!

This week's topic is Give Me Five staples on your grocery list besides milk, bread and eggs.

1. First and foremost - Miracle Whip!
I'm an addict. If our Miracle Whip jar goes empty,
Misty is a whiny and pouty brat! :-)
Hey, 'a sandwich just isn't a sandwich without Miracle Whip'!

2. Ken's Ranch Dressing
THE greatest Ranch dressing EVAH!
Don't believe me? Try it - you'll thank me.
I can't get Ken's out here, though. :-(
But, one of my best buds felt sorry for me and shipped me some!
WoooooHoooooo

3. Fruit Loops
I eat cereal every weekday morning before leaving for work.
Pictured below is one of my favorites.
I also love Golden Grahams.

4. Dei Fratelli Italian Sauce is awesome!
You don't even have to add anything to it,
it's awesome directly out of the can!
Yet, another item I can't get out here :-(

5. Cheese!!! Cheese!!! Cheese!!!
I LOVE cheese, rrreally I do.
And, Cheddar Cheese cubes are awesome when
dipped in #2 above :-D Just sayin'.
