Falling for our bonny Bonnie-Belinda

For This week's Ten on Tuesday you are supposed to list 10 Superstitions, Traditions, and/or Personlity Quirks.
1. Knock on Wood - If I or someone else is commenting on how something is going well, I knock on wood or instruct the other person to knock on wood. It's just a thing with me, because whenever I haven't knocked on wood, I end up jinxing myself
2. Jinxing - See #1
3. Routine - I have this 'thing' where I perform the same tasks in the same manner and order. Otherwise, I feel out of whack.
4. Even Numbers - I prefer even numbers over odd... I know, I'm weird
5. Apologizing - It's a personality trait. I apologize for everything. There have been jokes made that a species of ant could become extinct in Africa, and Misty would apologize for it.
6. I have a tradition that I, and only I, can hang some certain ornaments on the Christmas tree. This is because my dad got me these ornaments for my first Christmas living with my grandparents, and, therefore, the ornaments are very special to me.
7. Hugging - another personality quirk - I'm a hugger. It's the way I was raised
8. I put Miracle Whip on both pieces of bread in a sandwich. Hubs was nice enough to make me a hamburger last night, and he asked, "Do I have to put Miracle Whip on BOTH pieces of the bun?"
9. Full Moon - I completely believe that a full moon does affect people and animals.
10. Dreams/predictions - I've had dreams come true before.
Some of my favorite memories with Hubs are from when we attended Bon Jovi concerts. We have been to three of their concerts so far - Columbus, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. Please excuse my hurried post, I've got to run off to work.
My Dear, Treasured, and Deeply Loved Blogging Friends,
It is due to the depth of my friendship with you that I make this post. Being a fellow blogger, I am certain that we share a common goal - comments. What blogger doesn't want comments?
Well, I am a member of several weekly memes. When Misty is a member of a meme, she takes is very seriously and visits each and every post for that meme each week. My friends, you could make this much, much easier on me... and, you'll receive more comments too. What blogger doesn't want comments?
You see - there's this dreaded thing called Word Verification. It's EVIL. It's a bunch of stupid, squished together and wiggly letters which are supposed to keep spam comments away. Seriously, in my opinion, the only thing it keeps away is people with good intentions who WANT to comment on your blog and, in fact, TRY to comment, but after wrongly deciphering those letters two or three times, finally give up and do NOT comment on your blog.
So - here's the funny thing... from what I've come to realize - some people don't even realize that they have word verification on their comments! You see - Blogger automatically enables the evil and dreaded word verification. As I said - it's supposedly to prevent spam comments - here's the deal, if I get a spam comment, there's this cute little trash can symbol next to the comment - I click the trash can - spammy comment All.Gone. Seriously - my blog is not that huge that I attract hundreds of spammers. If you STILL feel that you need protection, then enable comment moderation - then you can read and approve each comment before it is posted to your blog. But - Word Verification - It's EVIL!
Word Verification gives me a migraine - it makes me dizzy - it makes me scream obscenities out loud while my dogs tilt their heads to the side and try to figure out what is wrong - AND - if I try three times and still don't 'get' those blasted letters - I.Give.Up. I do NOT comment.
So, I'm not proclaiming to be the greatest thing in the world... Seriously, by all means don't turn off your word verification just because of me........ HOWEVER...... if you would LIKE to turn off Word Verification.... I'm more than happy to tell you how (because some of my friends didn't even realize they had it and didn't know how to turn it off - so I thought I'd post it)...
1. Go to your blog
2. Click "Customize"
3. Click the "Settings" Tab
4. Click "Comments"
5. Scroll down....... you'll see "Show Word Verification for Comments?"
6. Do the Blogorld (Blog+World) a favor and click "NO"
7. If you are worried about spam comments - you can enable Comment Moderation - it's directly above the Word Verification setting.
OK - I'm done....... I'll stop lecturing now. It's just that when I mentioned to a couple friends that they might get more comments if they disabled Word Verification and they said "Huh?" It occurred to me that many people do not even realize that their blog has Word Verification, because it is automatically enabled when you start a new blog. So, for the sake of those of us who feel like pulling out our hair because of Word Verification, I thought I'd make this post.
That's all. I'm done.
Thanks for listening.
Do you, or someone you know, want to be recognized and given the chance at a career as a beautiful model?
Well, at http://www.lookoftheyear.com they claim to be the latest way to get recognized by an agency. You can also have a shot at the beauty contest that Look of the Year is sponsoring. There are two age categories for both women and men. This contest is open to everyone; young or old and male or female.
You never know what can happen. So, if this is something you've always wondered about, you might want to check it out.
I just wanted to thank the people who have taken the time to still visit and comment on my blog even though I have not been visiting other blogs much at all this past week. It has been a very rough week with being sick and the depression. I'm hoping that I'm on the road to recovery from the flu or whatever I have. So, I'll do my best to visit your blogs today and tomorrow.
To my wonderful blogging friends whose blogs I have not visited lately, please accept my apology. I promise to visit as soon as possible. Right now, I can't even focus... I'll be around to see you a.s.a.p.
For my second Camera-Critters post, I'm going to share a few pictures I took last week, and... a story :-) Yes, yes, I've always got a story. I figure you like my stories, otherwise, you wouldn't read my blog. hehe
So, as many of you know, Hubs was very ill for well over a week. He was so ill for so long that we were beginning to think he had something worse than the flu. One day, I had prepared a breathing treatment for him in a breathing machine we had borrowed. While he was doing the treatment, I was standing in front of him daydreaming (I don't know about what... probably dogs, or fishing, or Bon Jovi). My daydreams were interrupted when I saw this big black movement out the window. I looked up, my jaw dropped, and I just pointed out the window at our barn. Hubs turned around and looked and started to say "Go get your...", but I was already running out the door with my camera.
So, I came to my blog this morning ready to write a post that I devised in my head last night. Nope, I didn't lose this post to dreamland. That would be because I didn't enter dreamland last night. My night consisted of lots of worrying and lots of praying, not just about everything from my previous post, but a couple new things I had added to my worries last night. I'll save the story for the post though. "Why is she not making that post?", you ask. Well, because to make it a proper post, I must include pictures (yeah, yeah, picture-crazy, I know), and Blogger will not allow me to upload a photo right now! I've tried several times, but I continue to get an error from Blogger. Maybe I should complain to their corporate performance management department. Nah, I'll just have to remain patient (which is not easy for me), and tell you all about last night when I am permitted to put pictures with my words. So, stay tuned...
Yesterday was my best-friend-since-4th-grade's birthday. Yes, she was born on tax day. So, I told her that she wouldn't be receiving a birthday gift from me, because all my money went to the government ;-)
Anyway, we got to talking about the 'things-happening-in-threes' theory that she and I always believed in and watched out for while we were growing up. Last week, she had three horrible things happen to people she knew, and she commented that she certainly hoped the rule of three-things was true, because that would mean the bad things were done. I hope so too, because the stories she told me were horrible and heartbreaking.
Now, I've got my own incident of threes here, and, of course, I am coming to my friends in the blogosphere for your help. I'm asking for your thoughts, prayers, good vibes, healing wishes, chants... whatever it is you do to hope and ask for someone to recover. I know you all will want to do this for me, because some of these people are fellow bloggers and loved dearly within the blogosphere.
Sanni - One of my most favorite people - I love this girlie so much! Sanni and little Hamster 2.0 have been ordered to hang out in bed and take is very easy. Seems that Hamster is a little too anxious to check out her brand new furniture in her room and all those adorable outfits waiting for her. She decided to start giving her mommy some pains, which caused concern and landed both of them in bed, which is causing Sanni to have cabin fever, as you can imagine. So, please keep Sanni and Hamster in you thoughts for health, strength, and calmness (so Hamster doesn't get any ideas about hurrying to get out and see her pretties again).
Barb/Skittles - Y'all know by now that Barb has become one of my dearest and best friends. Well, she has had A LOT on her plate lately. It isn't my place to go into detail, but she has been dealing with a lot, and I'm very proud of how strong she has been through it all, because I most certainly would not be able to be as strong as she has been. Well, now to top it all off - she is physically ill. While trying to sort things through and remain strong, she needed some time away from blogging. So, I assumed that was why she wasn't online yesterday. I was wrong. She is very sick, and, again, it isn't my place to tell her story... she will inform you when she gets back to blogging. However, it may not be my place to give you details, but it most certainly is my place as a friend to ask for thoughts, prayers, healing wishes, etc. You can never have too much of that, and it can never start too soon. So, I hope she doesn't get upset with me for putting this on here, and I hope she understands why I did it.
My Hubs (this is why I have not been blog hopping as much as normal) - Remember back in February when he had what we thought was pneumonia? Well, he's sick again. He has been very sick for over a week. He has the symptoms he had then, but, also has more symptoms. And, the symptoms are more disturbing and changing each day! At first, when we figured it was just the flu, I was not worried, and was just taking care of him and trying to help him get well. However, he's still not well, and I'm beginning to think we are dealing with something other than the flu here. I would think that, if it were the flu, I would have certainly contracted it by now. I mean, I'm just in too close of contact here in this tiny
box house to have not got the germs. Besides, some of the symptoms are not normal flu symptoms, and, if you knew my husband, you would know that he never gets 'normal' illnesses. (Right LMQ & LMK?) Hubs tells me not to worry. He has told people that the reason Misty hasn't caught what he has is because "Misty is too mean to get sick." Ya know, you'd think someone who is being waited on hand and foot by you and being taken care of by you would be a little more appreciative! hehehe. However, I've discovered that Hubs is a little more concerned about his symptoms than he has let on, and that makes his worry-obsessed wife even more worried.
I'm going to blow the rule of threes and add another person to this list...
Colin from Life - I do not know Colin very well, but he is a very special friend to one of my very best friends, Tammy. Colin has been MIA for over a week now. He has not blogged, is not answering e-mails, and as far as we can tell, has not been online at all. Considering that Colin has a chronic condition, Tammy is very worried about her friend. Since she and I are both obsessive worriers, I can certainly understand what she is going through worrying about someone she cares about, and not being able to find anything out at all. So, please add Colin to your thoughts, and also add Tammy to your thoughts to give her peace of mind. If anyone out there happens to have personal contact with Colin and knows what is going on - PLEASE contact Tammy and let her know.
I truly believe in the power of positive energy, good thoughts, prayers, and love. So, please, keep these people in your thoughts. I'd really appreciate it.
Heads or Tails has its very own home now! If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!
See that little kitty? It is thanking all of you for sharing your photos and making the premier of the Camera-Critters Meme a HUGE success! I am overwhelmed with appreciation to all of you for taking the time to participate.
We were blessed with photos of a variety of critters. We saw a critter as small as an ant (OK, it WAS an ant) to huge elephants! We saw dogs, cats, a lizard, and a guinea pig. While we didn't see someone dressed in equestrian clothing, while riding a horse, we did see a pony! Oh yes, it was an awesome critter weekend! The photos were absolutely fantastic, and I can't wait to see what critters everyone shares next weekend.
So, my friends, I just had to take the opportunity to tell all of you...
Bloggers are the best!

For my first Camera-Critters submission on this blog, I decided to tell you the story of a critter-family, whom I had the opportunity to see on several occasions last Summer.
I would go out for a sunset-photo-walk a little before Dusk, and on several evenings, I would be blessed with a visit from this critter-family. You see the one in the back? Out of the five babies, that one seemed to be the one to give the mother headaches ;-) It was always wondering off and exploring, and Mom would have to turn around and go get the little mischief causer.
As you know, I'm a creature of habit and routine. I like to have a plan. Therefore, if I stick to the same routine, I won't feel like I'm 'outta whack'.
Here's my morning routine. First I wake up; then, I crawl out of bed and pull my hair up in a clip or ponytail, because it usually looks like I stuck my finger in an electrical outlet while I was sleeping; Next, I grab the laptop (Yes, last thing I do before going to sleep is shut the laptop down - yeah, yeah, 'addiction'... I know) and wander out into the living room. I power on the laptop (so it will be ready as soon as I sit down) and go to the kitchen to make coffee. The coffee brews while I get the dogs fed, and then I'm ready to sit down and enjoy my coffee while checking e-mails and blogging. Generally, I have two cups of coffee each morning, and Hubs has one. So, I make about half of a pot of coffee each morning and that provides our morning cups-of-pick-me-up.
Recently, I was lucky enough to get a sample of coffee for free. FREE!!! I didn't have to pay a penny!!! Do you know what coffee costs out here in Podunk? Trust me, you don't wanna know! Did I mention that I got some coffee for free? It was yummy too. Here, let me tell you about it...
Joffrey's makes gourmet coffees and teas. So, when I was offered to try their coffee called Jamaican Me Crazy, I jumped at the chance. Jamaican Me Crazy is a medium roast coffee with caramel, vanilla, and coffee liquor flavoring. It was yummy! I love trying out different flavored coffees. So, this was a real treat. I immediately sensed the coffee liquor flavoring, which almost gave the coffee just a hint of a mocha or chocolate touch, which is just fine with me, since I'm a coffee liquor and chocolate fan! I was also very pleased with the amount of flavor. You see, I was given this coffee maker awhile ago, and I can't stand the thing because it really makes weak coffee. Seriously, you should see the steps I have tried to produce a pot of coffee that tastes like coffee rather than water. So, when I was making the Jamaican Me Crazy coffee, I was worried that my coffee pot would make it taste like water. However, I was very pleased with the full flavor and aroma that was created.
As I said, Joffrey's makes a huge variety of flavored coffees and teas. I just happen to know that most of us bloggers tend to love either coffee or tea, or sometimes both. So, if you like trying different flavors, you will certainly want to visit their website. If you are like me, though, you'll have a hard time choosing. I think I narrowed it down to three of their flavors I would LOVE to try. There is Chocolate Raspberry (because I ♥ chocolate, and I ♥ raspberries), Cinnamon Twist (coffee that tastes like a Snickerdoodle cookie? I'm all for that!), or French Silk Pie (a blend of chocolate and vanilla. Yummmmmmy). They also offer iced coffee blends, which is something I love. My boss used to get me an iced coffee for a treat every now and then, and I was over the moon!
Trust me, if you visit this website, you will feel like you just found coffee and tea Heaven!
I saw this over two of my great friends' blogs - Bubba's Sis and Jen/Gi. Anyway, I thought it looked like fun, so I tried it. I must admit that a lot of this is spot on, but the parts that aren't spot on are totally opposite of how I am.
Since y'all seem to know me quite well, I'll see if you can figure out which parts describe me and which parts are way off :-)
So, according to the PAK Dictionary of Names, here's what "Misty" means:
