Camera-Critters #14

(c) Misty DawnS

I met this critter while walking down the road earlier this week. As I was walking along, I saw this critter come out of the ditch on one side of the road and start making its slooooow trip to the other side of the road. So, I knelt down, introduced myself to P.T. (that's its name... short for Painted Turtle, of course), shot a few pictures, and then carried P.T. over to the other ditch, because I wanted to make sure this critter didn't make the acquaintance of one of those big, shiny things with rubber wheels. I then continued on my walk, and when I returned to the spot where I had left P.T., I smiled, because P.T. had continued on the journey (probably to our pond).

Crazy critter. Didn't it know that the chicken crossed the road?

Got a lot of ponds around your place?

Fortunate encounter for both of you it seems. Thanks for sharing … and for ‘rescuing’ PT from potential disaster.
Hugs and blessings,

PT was lucky! This is a lovely shot.

Do tortoises or turtles live in the wild like ducks in Holland? In Holland we cannot have turtles, it's far too cold.

very cool photo, dawn! by the way... we have been here on maui for over a week now but i couldn't NOT do camera critters!!

Hello .. is anyone home? Isn't it amazing the way they can pull inside their shells that way?

Turtles are so plentiful here this year but sadly, they do want to cross roads and some don't make it. We often stop to take one across but you have to be careful if it is a snapping turtle!

I always stop and move them across the road, something makes me think they're thankful.

That was a very nice thing you did.It is exactly the same thing I would have done.I hope PT made it to his or her destination safely

I bet PT is forever grateful. How do all these critters just keep walking across your path?

Great shot. New camera? hehehe *smile*

Ah, I'm lovin' this photo... I get nervous when these little fellas cross the road also...

Misty: Great shot of PT, I saw one by a pond this week.

Great photo of P.T. I saw one m-a-k-i-n-g his way across the highway yesterday. Thankfully he didn't meet up with one of those shiny things!

You turtle saver, you! Great shot! I'm sure he'll be very happy once he makes his way to your pond!

I'm up as well. You can find it here

That'a real head to head shot. I think the birds I save would be ahomw with you too, fellow mrs doolittle. Well done you!

Good shot! He thinks he was hiding with his head pulled in his shell, but you still got him!

Heart of Rachel

What a nice encounter. I'm glad you took time to give that fellow a hand to get to his destination safely.

Mine is up here.

PT is so lucky to have you for a friend!

So glad you put him out of harms way!

He must have been waiting for you, knowing you would help.

Kerri Farley

Glad you helped him along. I LOVE turtles!!

PT is a lucky one. Pretty cool name by the way... and a great shot, too.

My critter can be found here today. =)

What a neat turtle to meet on your walk! I'm glad you were there to help him cross the road.

My mom used to pick up turtles on busy streets all the time-then we'd bring it to my aunt's "farm" where they would be safe...though, I don't think that was a very good idea to take it out of it's normal enviroment.

Beautiful photo! A very good shot really!

What different lives there are on our planet! Our lives as humain beings full of stress, running non stop from somewhere to another and the life of a turtle slow, calm, peaceful, zero stress! :-)

Have a pleasant Sunday!

Great up close turtle picture! Love it. He's all closed up, hiding. Very cool!

Mom Knows Everything

I like turtles! Hey maybe P.T. can come play with Billy and Alex.

What a cool shot! He would have ended up in my son's backpack and carried home. I can't count the number of critters he's brought home and I've found in his room or in my shoes!

Jillie Bean (AKA Bubba's Sis)

I love that photo!! Great shot of P.T.!

Hello P.T.! You're a very handsome turtle and aren't you lucky to have a good friend like Misty Dawn to help you cross the road? :)
