Wordy Wednesday

(c) Misty DawnS

I know this is supposed to be wordless... and it would be wordless (HONEST), except I feel I need to clarify a few things (so hush Anna!). I just want to make it clear that the fish in this photo is NOT dead, nor did it die as a result of my catching it and having my photo taken with it. I caught this (approximately 8 pound, just sayin') catfish in one lake and brought it back to our pond. I released it in our pond behind our house. So, not only is this catfish still happily alive and swimming around in my pond, he also took the time to stop and pose for a photo with me (did I mention he was approximately 8 pounds? Just sayin'). So, yeah, that's my "wordless" Wednesday, with just a bit of an explanation. If you'd like to know about how big he was or anything like that, just ask and I'll break my silence to tell you ;-)

Now, I've got to go get ready for work, where I'm assisting with the budgeting and planning for next year. What? you mean next year is only a few months away?!?! WHERE did the year go???

Heads or Tails *Shake*

Heads or Tails has its very own home now! If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is "Shake".

(c) Misty DawnS

I promise I will never post one of my 'bad' photos again, but I had to share this, even though the photo is lousy. No, this is not an example of camera 'shake', it's an example of trying to take a photo even though it is after 7 p.m., a.k.a. past dusk.

What do you see in that tree? Raccoons? Yep, there's a plural on that. There were two sibling raccoons, both hugging the same branch, and each other, and they were probably looking at me and begging me not to 'shake' the tree, because they were certainly too big for the branch they were hugging.

If I would have had better lighting, this would have been a fantastic photo. Unfortunately, it was almost dark outside - there's nothing I can do about that. Still, I can't 'shake off' the smile that comes to my face when I picture the two of them climbing the tree and then proceeding to hug each other around the branch. It was too cute.

Now, I'm off to work, to the library to look for an audio book, and to get my hair cut (finally) after work.

Today's Flowers

This is my second week of participating in Today's Flowers. I'm loving this meme, and I'm especially looking forward to enjoying it during the Winter when I'm needing a flower fix. Luis, this was a great idea for a photography meme, and thank you for allowing me to participate.

For this photo, I suggest you give it more than a quick glance, because the more you look, the more you will see. You'll notice things you didn't initially see upon first glance.

(c) Misty DawnS

I suggest the same thing with this photo too ;-)

(c) Misty DawnS

That's it, I'm done. I'm not going to overload you with way too many photos, like I did on Misty's Words.

Now, I could give you a link to a new diet pill, OR I could give you a link so you can go join Today's Flowers. Hmmmm, I'll do both! The diet pill is called Apidexin, and the next sentence tells you have to join this awesome meme.

If you would like to join in the fun or view the other beautiful entries, click on the graphic at the beginning of this post or click here.

Sky Watch Friday

(c) Misty DawnS

Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE (and am completely obsessed with and often have my breath taken away by) the sunsets here? Oh yeah, I guess I have way too many a few times. hehe I certainly hope you enjoy them too, because I just can't stop myself from photographing almost every sunset I see here. :-D

Wordy Wednesday

OK, so, as my friend Anna pointed out, I am "unable to be wordless... ever". Besides the fact that I don't want to disappoint Anna (because I really could be wordless if I chose to be. I could too!), I have to ask you guys if you see what I see in these clouds. Do you see what I see? (hmmm, why am I humming a Christmas song now?).

OK, OK to the point of this post. When I looked at these clouds, I instantly saw a mother holding a child. I cropped it so their heads are in the middle of the photo. The child is laying on his/her back looking up into the mother's face, and, in turn, she is looking down at him.

OK, now tell me... do you see this? Or, am I just completely crazy (like we all already knew hehe)?

(c) Misty DawnS

I've been taking special note of the clouds around me. I seem to be drawn to them like magnets. When I 'see something' in the clouds, I go ahead and take a photo of it. Then I run around asking if others see what I see and end up making people think I've got even more 'issues'. ;-)

Have a great Wednesday, my friends!

Heads or Tails *How Would You Change Where You Live*

Heads or Tails has its very own home now! If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is "TAILS - How would you change where you live?"

(c) Misty DawnS

One day, I was being whiny and pouty, and I informed Hubs that I am going through some SERIOUS Daddy-Withdrawal! I'm telling you... it's a horrible condition, this "Daddy-Withdrawal". I don't wish it on anyone. When one has said condition, it renders the sufferer a complete pouty, whiny, blubbering mess! The experts, so far, have only been able to find one treatment for said condition... Immediate and large doses of the prescription called "D.A.D.". Be aware though, said prescription (D.A.D.) comes with some known side effects... these side-effects include, but are not limited to: excessive laughter, giddiness, huge smiles, sudden desire to hug, a happy heart, sleeplessness due to staying up all night rambling on and on to a loved one, and in some cases sudden jumping up and down and squealing with delight. If any of the aforementioned side effects are noted during the administering of D.A.D., whatever you do, you should NOT stop administering D.A.D. Suddenly ceasing D.A.D. treatment may cause even more severe "Daddy-Withdawal". Therefore, it is recommended to INCREASE the D.A.D. dosage to every day for life.

Hey - I'm just trying to help my fellow sufferers!

So, Hubs replied to me, "My wife is really home sick."

"No," I replied, "I like it here. Honest. I just miss the 4 F's"

"The 4 F's?"

"Yeah!" I exclaimed while looking at him like he was a moron. "Father, Family, Friends, and Food!"

"Umm, Misty, wouldn't 'Father' go under the 'Family' category?"

"OH NO! He gets a category ALL his own!"

"Oh, I see. You know, I never EVER thought I'd hear YOU say you missed food!"

"Yeah, well... When I get the first three F's to come out here, I'll tell them to bring with them the Food I can't get out here!"

Hubs just shook his head at me. (hmmm, why does it seem like he shakes his head at me quite often??? Must try to figure that out.)

Lawson's Chip Dip... Siciliano's Pizza... Whoppers... Aunt J's Seven Layer Salad... Neighbor's Gingersnaps... Daddy's Chocolate Chip Cookies... Gyros at the fair... maybe I should start researching the best diet pills now!

A Fun Pet Social Network

Look at what I've got!

(c) Misty DawnS

(c) Misty DawnS

OK, they are actually Mokey's, if you want to get technical, but she is getting to the point where she would gladly give them away to me. The black kitten is a little doll and would like to maybe get a little closer to me and find out why its mommy comes running to me to get luvin' whenever she sees me.

However, the kitten in the second photo is way more skittish. I think it is going to have an attitude like its mom. Yes, Mokey is well known for her attitude. So, it figures that the kitten who looks like Mokey is going to have an attitude like Mokey. hehe Isn't that appropriate.

If you can't tell, I love to talk about my pets just a little excessively. Check this out -- it's perfect for people like me and my friends, who can't get enough of rambling on and on about our 'fur-kids' -- I found an online social network centered around pets! It's designed for pet lovers to meet pet lovers and talk about...what else? Pets! I'm a member of Zootoo.com, and it's a lot of fun.

Most of us are members of other social networking sites on the internet, but this one is special, because it is designed to help us help our pets. So, if you can't stop talking about the animals in your life, come and join me at Zootoo!

Camera-Critters #24

These critters are the perfect subjects for posts when the title of your blog is
"Misty's Moosings"?
What typo?

I took this photo on my way home from work the other day.
I just couldn't resist. So, I quickly checked my mirrors to make sure no traffic was coming, and I pulled over to talk to a calf (and take photos too, of course).
This calf was very interested in me and didn't mind posing for some shots.
As you can see, though, Mama is keeping a close watch over her baby.
Hmmmm, maybe I should make her some prints to hand out to all her cow friends and family.
Yeah, that would be amoosing (geesh, I need more sleep).

(c) Misty DawnS

And this...
THIS little critter is my baby.
She was born to a mama who wouldn't claim her and take care of her.
So, she tried nursing off of someone else.
That someone else didn't appreciate that too much, and roughed up my poor little girl.
So, now, she lives in one of our buildings and comes running for her bottle twice a day.

(c) Misty DawnS

She's being shy with the camera.
I told her that if she's going to be "MY Baby", she's just going to have to get used to the camera and posing for lots of photos.

(c) Misty DawnS

At first, she still refused.
I guess she doesn't want to be a famous blog-calf.

(c) Misty DawnS

"Wait! Did you say bottle???"

(c) Misty DawnS

"Wellllll now, in that case, by all means, take my photo!"

(c) Misty DawnS

How can you resist that face? And those gorgeous long eyelashes??? She just bats those beautiful eyelashes at me, and I'm smitten and ready to get some new patio furniture covers and sit outside with her all day answering to her every whim. It sure didn't take long for her to become spoiled.
By the way, this little girl doesn't have a name yet. I was calling her "Curly", because of her curly hair on her head and back, but Hubs informed me that he already calls another calf "Curly"... Shall we play "Name This Calf"?

Sky Watch Friday

(c) Misty DawnS

I intended to post this last night, but I simply got too tired and needed to go to bed. That will result in my being about #632 on the list, but that's O.K. ;-) I'm so impressed with how far Sky Watch Friday has come! You guys have done a great job!

Thank goodness today is Friday! Believe it or not - we are actually supposed to have a beautiful weekend here with great temperatures and... are you ready for this... NO rain! WoooHooo! I'm hoping to take full advantage of it, after posting my Camera-Critters, of course.

Now, I'm going to give you a link to read about Leptovox, and then I'm going to ask you to come and view other Sky Watch Friday photos, and join in yourself...

World Class Professions Meme

YES, my BBFF has tagged me for a LOT of memes, and I am WAY behind on completing those memes... So, I've got a lot of catching up to do.

This meme is called "World Class Professions", and here are the rules...

1. Copy and paste everything to a new post and add your name next to your profession (or profession-to-be for undergrads) in the list. Make sure your name is linked to your blog/webbie.

2. If your profession is not in the list then simply add it to the correct alphabetical place. For example, if you want to add PLUMBER then it should be placed in between ONCOLOGIST and QUEEN

3. Tag as many people as you can and witness how your Technorati will explode!

4. Don’t forget to link back.

16 Questions Meme

YES, it's me again... yes, I'm posting a lot tonight. There are reasons for my excessive posting - one is that I'm way behind on responding to tags and awards, and the other reason I'll have to explain later (maybe - besides, you might figure it out for yourselves anyway).

This is another meme I was tagged for by Tammy, my BBFF. It's called "The 16 Questions Meme".

  1. Are you pregnant? No (never gonna happen), but most of my cows are!!!
  2. When do you want to get married? Already did that on August 18, 2001
  3. Do you curse a lot? Oh He** Yeah!
  4. What are your favorite books? Legal Mysteries, Sara Donati's "Wilderness Series", Barbara Kingsolver's "Prodigal Summer"... Ohhhh there's too many to mention!
  5. Do you wish you were with someone right now? My Daddy and the Wolf a.k.a. My Boyfriend
  6. Who were the last three people that sent you a text message? Does IMing count? If so, then, Bear, Tammy, and my Sister-In-Law
  7. Are you happier single or in a relationship? Bwahahahaha - I'm married, so I better say I'm happier in a relationship hehehe (Luv ya Hubs)
  8. Do you believe everyone deserves a second chance? Yes.
  9. Do you wish someone would call you? Nah - don't like the phone - I much more prefer an instant message.
  10. What is bugging you right now? Finances (like how to make enough money to afford Moen faucets) and Time (or should I say 'lack thereof' of both)
  11. What's something you wish you could understand better? Photo Submission Guidelines (only Bear will understand this answer... and he'll help me with it too, thank goodness).
  12. If someone doesn't like you, it's usually because...? Ummmm cuz there's something about me they don't like! bwahahahaha
  13. Do you have a wild side? Nah, I'm too responsible
  14. Kissed someone in the last twenty four hours? Do my dogs count?
  15. Have you lost friends in the past year? Nope, I've gained many wonderful friends.
  16. What were you doing at midnight last night? Trying to fall asleep and stay asleep (that's difficult when Fibro and stress are involved).

A Meme of Five

Remember how I said I am WAY behind on memes and awards? Well, I wasn't kidding. So, in the next few posts, I'm going to do a few memes that Tammy, my BBFF, tagged me to do. I'm such a bad BBFF!!! I'm just lucky that she'll forgive me, because that's what BBFFs do - they understand and forgive each other and love each other unconditionally ;-) I have a GREAT BBFF :-D

Here's the first meme I'm going to do tonight, it's called "A Meme of Five"...

“The rules of the game get posted at the beginning.

Each player answers the questions about themselves.

At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know they’ve been tagged.

Let the person who tagged you know when you’ve posted your answer.”

1) What were you doing 5 years ago?
I was working as a legal office manager and also operating a sheep farm with Hubs. *sigh* I miss the sheep.

2) What are 5 things on your to-do list for today?
Well, the day is just about over, so I'll tell you what I DID today
*Went to and worked at Job #1 (MSG job)
*Came home and did Job #2 (Virtual Assistant job)
*Went for a photo walk (I have to do this for my sanity)
*Blogged (Doing that right now)
*Chat with my buddies (I'm chatting with Bear now, and I chatted with my BBFF at lunch time), and call my dad (still got a half hour before I do that)

3) What are 5 snacks you enjoy?
*Chocolate Covered Pretzels (Yummmmmm)
*Chips and French Onion Dip
*Mozzarella Sticks
*Cheese (I LOVE cheese - REALLY I do!)
*Green Grapes

4) What are five things you would do if you were a billionaire?
*Buy more photography stuff
*Buy my dad (and wolf) a new truck and move them both out here to the house and land I buy for them :-D
*Pay off all the bills and go visit some very special blogging/internet friends
*Finish the house or build a new one (the way I want it!)
*Start a dog rescue

5) What are five jobs you’ve had?
*Legal Office Manager
*Logistics Coordinator
*Farmer (WAIT - no one ever paid me for that one!!!)
*Virtual Assistant
*Bookkeeper/Office Manager (and part time insurance agency secretary where we sold various insurance, including car insurance)

That's the meme. Am I tagging anyone? Heck no!!! I don't have the right to tag anyone... I'm wayyyyyy behind and just trying to catch up!

An Award from Home

In between working three jobs, having this dumb urge to actually eat some food during the day and get some sleep at night (not nearly enough though), and trying to take care of home duties, I have been a HUGE slacker when it comes to visiting my friends' blogs. Not only that, I've become a HUGE slacker when it comes to completing memes I have been tagged to do. Not only that, I've been horrible at showing my appreciation for awards I have been given and forwarding those awards along to my fantastic and special friends here in the Blogosphere.

So, after answering a phone call in which I was offered some great life insurance rates, I realized I had been given this awesome award by a very special person whose blog really means a lot to me.

Here's the award...

This award was given to me (most recently - it may have been given to me by other people too - please forgive me if it was) by my very special friend, The Fishing Guy. This REALLY means a lot to me, because his blog and his writing and friendship mean the world to me. You see, he lives in my hometown county. You know, the one I lived in my whole life before moving here a year ago. Every time I visit his blog, I feel like I've been able to 'go home' for a little bit, and that means the absolute world to me! I view his photographs and read about where they were taken, and I KNOW those places - I've been there! Those places are "home" to me. Ahhh, I'm sure he has no idea how his blog affects me and what it does for me........ hmmmm, maybe he does now... if he reads this, that is ;-) If you do read this - THANK YOU MY FRIEND!

College Debate

(Please excuse the mess - we were preparing for the big move, hence the Budweiser boxes in the background - honest those were used for packing!!! And, yes, that is MY fish hanging on the wall - I refused to allow anyone to pack it other than me)

Some of you may remember that I'm a college student. Yep, before we moved here, I would push myself way too hard by taking too many credit hours and trying to balance that with work, home, dogs, step-kids, and farming.

After a semester of about something like 19 credit hours, working, and preparing for a farm liquidation sale, and ... oh yeah, packing up my entire life to send it on a livestock trailer 750 miles away... I came seriously close to burn-out. OK, I'm lying - I was burnt - crisp as toast... burnt toast that is.

So, I've taken some time off from college, and wasn't sure how to feel about that. Part of me told myself I needed the time off, because there's no way I can expect myself to do more right now. The other part of me felt guilty and kept telling myself that I was being stupid to have worked so hard to maintain a 4.0 GPA and now give up.

So, I came to a happy conclusion...
See, when I enrolled for this particular degree, I was doing it basically so I would have a degree, and it would help me secure employment when we moved (You know, so I could buy things like drywall, cement, paint, appliances, and dream of a finished home with home theater sconces and heat in the bathroom).

Now that I have secured employment, I decided I wanted to take classes for me - classes which would interest me and help me further myself, rather than 'just get a degree'. So, I'm taking an HTML course starting in October, and I'm looking forward to it.

In fact, I'm even considering changing the whole focus of my college pursuits to something like web design. I wonder if I could even utilize that kind of education out here in Podunk my small farming county.

Heads or Tails *Recipe*

Heads or Tails has its very own home now! If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is "recipe". So, I'm going to share my favorite corn bread recipe, which was my grandmother's recipe.

Vermont Corn Bread
1 stick margarine
1 cup sugar
pinch salt
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 cup flour
1 cup corn meal
2 tsp baking powder

Put salt, sugar, butter in mixing bowl - stir with eggs (add them whole). Add milk, all flour, corn meal, and baking powder lightly folded.
Spread thin on a jelly roll pan (well greased) (I just use a cookie sheet with sides on it).
Bake at 425 degrees. When 3/4 done, cut into squares & rub some butter on top and put under broiler (we never had a broiler, so I just put it back in the oven). Total baking time will be 15-20 minutes.

If you decide to try it, I hope you enjoy it. Trust me, if I make it, that means it's a very easy recipe. ;-)

Camera-Critters #23

She woke up, got dressed, and went to pick up her photos from the fair. After spending some time speaking with the man in charge of the photography contest/exhibit (and posing for her photo with her Best of Show winner), she turned with a new found sense of pride and headed out the door, when she heard the gentleman say, "Get out of here and get out there to get some more great photos!"

"Oh yes." she thought, "That is exactly what I'm going to do."

She arrived home, quickly changed clothes, and headed out for a photo-walk. She relished in the peace and calm of the nature around her... her favorite place to be. She looked up and took this shot and thought, "I'll post that for Sky Watch on Friday." (later, she ended up choosing other Sky Watch shots though hehe)

(c) Misty DawnS

On the way back from the walk, returning to the house, she thought to herself, "Well, it was a nice walk anyway. I got some decent shots... nothing spectacular, but I certainly enjoyed myself." Then, she heard a voice (please don't call to have her committed) which said, "Look UP... NOW!" Honestly, this 'voice' was so apparent that she actually responded with "Huh?". Then... she heard a sound.

Funny thing... it sounded just like her puppy, a.k.a. Thunder-Hooves, when she sees cattle or some other sort of fun herding entertainment and takes off running full speed... But... what in the world? How in the heck would the puppy be clear back here in the field by the woods? What in the.........

She saw it........ it rounded the corner along the woods and came running directly at her...

"WHOA - she really IS coming straight for me!"

"Brace yourself, Mist, cuz this might hurt a little bit."

(c) Misty DawnS

She planted her feet, held her camera to her eye, and watched in amazement as the thunder-hoofed creature was looking right past her and running straight for her. Then, she took a photo... the shutter opened and closed, and the critter came to a screeching halt...

"What the? Where the heck did this human-chic come from?!?!"
(c) Misty DawnS

"Hmmmm, I don't know where she came from, but
she makes my ear twitch."
(c) Misty DawnS

"This human-chic looks harmless enough... almost like
she thinks I'm beautiful or something."
(c) Misty DawnS

"Yep, I'm concluding that this human-chic isn't too much of a danger."
(c) Misty DawnS

"Hmmmm, I wonder how long it's going to take her to realize that
she needs to start breathing again."
(c) Misty DawnS

Perhaps she had an important meeting to discuss how to create quality Dallas resumes. Whatever it was, she needed to get there fast.

Sky Watch Friday

If you visited (or proceed to visit) my Sky Watch Friday post on Misty's Words, believe it or not, that photo was the beginning of this same sunset. These photos are what the sky looked like as the sunset progressed.

This first photo is Bear's (one of my best buds) favorite...

However, I preferred this next shot, because of the dramatic colors in the clouds. The photo looked crooked, because I was standing on a hillside when I took it. So, we tried to straighten it a bit... but, this is honestly what the sky looked like. It was amazing. I was still on the phone with my dad, and I just kept repeating to him over and over that he needed to be here with me to see this beautiful sight.

Revenge on the Pranksters

A few weeks ago, I had endured some very lousy days, and I was feeling completely exhausted, both emotionally and physically. I had even cut my nightly phone conversation with my dad short in order to get some much needed rest. I hit the pillow, and I was, finally, sound asleep, without any worries or stress. That lasted until about 2 a.m., when the house phone started ringing. I don't think my feet hit the floor until I was halfway across the room reaching for the phone. I was shaking when I answered it, because I was afraid of what I might hear on the other end. I mean, when you get a phone call at that time of night, it's not usually good news, and I have a 95 year old great-uncle, who means the world to me, back in Ohio, whom I worry about all the time. Well, it wasn't bad news. Thank goodness. However, it was some young punk calling to ask me if I would like him to perform various sexual favors for me and wondering if I'd perform some in return. Of course, I immediately hung up the phone. However, by then, the damage was done. By then, I was so angry and upset, I could not fall back asleep for several hours.

It's times like this when I miss my Caller I.D. Before we moved, we had Caller I.D., and I was known to use an online service such as TraceNumber.com to search by phone number, find the person's name, and give them a call back. Then, I would refer to him by name and explain that this was simply a "courtesy call" to notify him I would not hesitate to notify the police of his most recent phone call to me. It was always a satisfying feeling when I hung up the phone and felt I had got a little revenge.

Heads or Tails *Box*

Heads or Tails has its very own home now! If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is "Box". When we first moved to this state, I jokingly and lovingly referred to the house we live in as "The Box", because of the fact that it is very small. However, Hubs has been working on providing us more space... more "home".

As you can see from this photo, Hubs pretty much doubled the size of "The Box".
It's going to be really nice if when it gets finished.
You know what they say... slowly, but surely.

We've made more progress since this photo was taken... there is now a new steel roof on the entire house, and the place is ready for siding (whenever we can afford it).

When it's all done - I'll have a dish washer!!!!!!!!!! WooooHoooo And heat in the bathroom.......... Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh... It will be like Heaven!

Camera-Critters #22

Down the road,
in one of my boss's fields,
I found Damselfly Heaven!
Seriously! They were EVERYWHERE!
I was amazed at all the different colors,
and, being the obsessive photographer I am,
I, of course, took photos of every single different
colored damselfly I saw :-D

See... some of them were in need of a little privacy,
which I wasn't providing ;-)

This white one was resting on a tree limb...
When you view it full size, it looks like he's got a huge smile on his face.
It's rather funny.

And, we have fluorescent green, with a neon blue tip on the tail...

I really loved this bright orange one.
It is so pretty.

This one reminded me of a zebra with its black stripes...

(c) Misty DawnS

This one had sage green stripes...

This one looks gray or silver in the photo,
but when the sun hit it just right,
it has a lavender tint to it...

I also had a blast seeing my camera zoom in and focus on these tiny little critters.
It was a lot of fun and provided me with plenty photos to torture you with share with you for Camera-Critters.
You can bet I'll be visiting that field on a regular basis.

Oh... and for those who are bored wanting to know... I'll share all the fair/ribbon-winning details with you tomorrow. I promise... tomorrow you'll be accusing me of bragging on myself while I excitedly tell you about the seven ribbons.
