Camera-Critters #38

I was very, very excited when I heard that those who predict the weather were saying we would have temperatures reaching around 57 degrees (Fahrenheit) Friday! Considering the fact that, earlier in the week, we had wind chill advisories for two days due to wind chills of -20 to -30, this promise of a warmer day sounded exciting. I immediately started making plans of all the photo-walks I would take.

My plans, however, didn't work out. We.Had.Fog. And I mean F.O.G. - the 'you-can-cut-it-with-a-knife' type of fog. The fog was so thick you could hardly see a few feet in front of you. On the one walk I did take, I was rather nervous knowing that if a vehicle came down the road, the driver would not see me until almost upon me.

I may have been disappointed by the turn of events, but I noticed a particular critter was rather abundant wherever I turned...

Can you see them both???

Yep, pairs of my late grandmother's favorite bird species seemed to be having fun playing Hide And Seek in the fog. (...and I was stomping my foot and pouting like a child, because I knew my photos would turn out disappointing)

I love cardinals. They are a regal bird. Even though there was F.O.G., your pictures are beautiful. The fog enhanced the colors. Have a good weekend. Lisa

'Even the birds are walking' weather.
Time to keep the feders packed.

My grandson, Alex (age 11) got a nice little digital camera for Christmas and when he was here Christmas Day, he showed me some photos he had taken earlier -birds -and cardinals, no less! For his first tries, he did a pretty darned good job too! Love seeing pictures of cardinals -they have to be about the prettiest birds around, in my opinion, Great job, Misty!

Not disappointing at all! I love the splash of red in the bleak sky. Cardinals are so majestic.

I have to share a funny story about my son. I forget how old he was, but he was riding with the Bubba's Sis' family. They were talking about baseball and he told them he liked the Cardinals because of their pretty uniforms (or something to that effect). LOL We still giggle over it.

I like cardinals! In the winter they bring pretty color to a gray world.

What wonderful photos of the lovely cardinals in these wintry scenes!
Hugs and blessings,

Anna

I enjoyed your cardinal pictures.

We've got serious fog here, too. The air is warm, the snow is cold (and mostly melted now) so we get fog. So much fun to drive or walk in!

ChrissyM

Very pretty espeically with the snow background!!

babooshka

These really are beautiful blush red birds,.

Linda

Cardinals were my grandmother's very favorite birds though she loved all of the birds and made sure to feed them throughout the winter. Didn't matter if Gram had food but the birds had to have feed!

CrazyCath

Well not bad in my book considering the fog! Pretty good. Very colourful little guys.

shutterhappyjenn

Very great shots, even if the bird was hiding behind the twigs.

My Camera Critters post is now up, too! You can check it here if you have some time. I'll be glad to see you there.

Grammy

Great shots We had good temps but a flash flood hit this morning. Every thing went down fast to luckily.

Cardinals are my favourite birds. Great photos.

Ashrunner

Great shots of the Cardinals, Misty. I only wish I could see them around here. They'd add a nice splash of color to the winter scenes.

Dirk

Your pictures aren't disappointing. With the fog hagging around you managed to catch the cardinals good on picture. It's a cute bird, not seen here in Belgium.

Sue

I like the contrast between the sky, and the deep red of the cardinal. I enjoyed viewing them :)

Tammy
