Camera-Critters 21

I remember shortly after I was married, my aunt brought my grandpa to the farm to visit me. It was milking time (we were a dairy farm back then), and Grandpa watched with amusement as I walked to the milking barn with two little lambs (Fawn and Annie were their names) following on my heels, because they followed me everywhere. Grandpa laughed and laughed and kept telling my aunt, "Look! She's got lambs who think she's 'Mom', and she's on her way to work with cows." Before he left, he said, "Honey, you've found your place in life. This is exactly where you were meant to be... surrounded by animals."

Well, who am I to disagree with Grandpa? He's the smartest and most wonderful man I ever knew. Besides, he was right (as always), I really do need to be surrounded by animals.

Which is why I was breathing sighs of relief and contentment when I was finally able to walk out back and take photos of this...

What's that? What are those? Ohhhhhh COWS!!! YAY!(c) Misty DawnS

I was so lost and desperate without any livestock on our farm for the past year, that I even resorted to 'borrowing' the neighbors cattle... just for photographs, of course... and a few heart-to-heart discussions on what is wrong with the world today and why animals are much better company than humans.
(c) Misty DawnS

Yep, I'll be having lots of heart-to-hearts with our new cattle.
See, they're already interested in everything I have to say.
(c) Misty DawnS

See, they are SO eager for us to begin our loving relationship together.
(c) Misty DawnS

Really, they were thrilled to find out they were coming to live with me.
(c) Misty DawnS

OK, maybe I exaggerated a little bit about that.
(c) Misty DawnS

Actually, they just want to eat our grass and eventually get those babies out of their bellies. Oh what fun that will be!!! Calf photos!!! Oh yeah - this is where I was intended to be - surrounded by animals.
(c) Misty DawnS

Well, I was thinking we were in desperate need of a vacation, and I was even looking into cruises. We won't be doing that now, though. Our family has just grown by thirty-eight expectant Mamas. I'll just have to leave Hubs here and go hang out with my daddy. ;-)

Sky Watch Friday

(c) Misty DawnS

Ahhh yes, I'm sure if you have seen my photos before, especially my Sky Watch photos, you will remember the cemetery gate. Yep, I've become infatuated with it again. I love trying to time when I get to the gate and capture the sunset at the perfect moment in relation to the gate. The people around here have become accustomed to seeing me standing in the ditch, on my tip toes, across the road, even lying down, trying to capture exactly what I want. They just smile and wave, and even sometimes beep, and continue on their way, while they discuss with one another how photographer people from Ohio are rather strange.

Oh well, I have a blast. In fact, I may be needing some self storage just for my cemetery sunset pics ;-) If anyone calls while I'm out, Hubs just says, "She's going to the cemetery and looking for deer on her way there." :-D

Bad Day

I had a bad day yesterday. It began by finding out that the fourteen photos I had sent to the printer were unable to be opened by the printer (you submit them online), and, therefore, unless there is some amazing miracle today, I won't be entering any photos in the fair this year. I'm trying not to be bummed out about it and just accept it as a sign that I just wasn't supposed to enter any this year. Several other things happened after that phone call to make it seem like 5:00 p.m. couldn't come soon enough yesterday.

Then, I hit a tremendous storm on my way home. I couldn't see the road at all, and I was hydroplaning all over the place. I knew I couldn't pull over, because if anyone came up behind me, they would certainly run into me because they wouldn't be able to see my vehicle. I made it home though, safe and sound.

We all have bad days, but it could always be worse.

BBFF's Anniversary

(c) Misty DawnS
(pink and purple on the same flower - I instantly thought of Tam and me)

One year ago today,
I sent an e-mail with a question in it
to this 'chic' I had never talked to before.
Heck, she lived clear in another country (Canada, eh?) even.

To my surprise, she answered my e-mail
and was very sweet and friendly and funny
(and H.O.T., yes, definitely H.O.T. hehe)
I decided that she was pretty cool.
(even if she is a moron).

One year ago today,
I had no idea of the
awesome and amazing friendship which would develop,
but, I sure am thankful it did!

HAPPY BBFF'S ANNIVERSARY, TAM
You have quickly become one of the
best and greatest (and Hottest, definitely hottest)
friends a girl could ever have!

You and this friendship mean more to me than words can express!

Camera-Critters #20

It was a dark and stormy night...
(c) Misty DawnS

The creatures were poised...
(c) Misty DawnS

preparing for their first strike
which would put the whole plan into action...
(c) Misty DawnS

and capture all other innocent creatures
unsuspecting and unaware...
(c) Misty DawnS

No, I'm just kidding! You were getting scared weren't you?
It was just Misty out on a walk at dusk, a.k.a. low light conditions.
I didn't mean to make you run and hide under your bed.
It's OK, honest - you can come out now.
Come on out and see my new friend.
(c) Misty DawnS

There is a set of twin fawns who play together at dusk
in two hayfields down the road from me.
(c) Misty DawnS

This one was getting rather curious about me and
was actually starting to walk toward me to check me out.
(c) Misty DawnS

Unfortunately, my new camera has a rather loud shutter (not good for taking photos of skittish wildlife). So, the fawn heard the shutter and decided it had come close enough. Oh well, that's the ONLY thing that I don't like about the new camera. You can't have everything perfect. ;-)

Sky Watch Friday

Hello my dear Sky Watch Friday friends! Due to my busy and overwhelming life lately, it has been quite awhile since I remembered to post my Sky Watch photo. Oh yes, I, of course, have still been taking photos of the sky, I just forget to post them for Sky Watch. I will be at work on Friday and think, "Oh Dummy! You forgot again!" Well, this Friday, I am not forgetting.

(c) Misty DawnS

It took me a while of zig-zagging up and down the road and back and forth across the road; Then, standing on tiptoes, I finally had the moon right where I wanted it in reference to the grain bins and the corn field in the foreground. I realize that if your monitor is set differently than mine, you may not see the grain bins (one of my best friends didn't even know they were there) or corn. So, don't worry if you can't.

The Theme of Music

(c) Misty DawnS

I'm thinking about music stuff today. Well, first, guess who's coming to concert in Iowa, which really isn't that far from me. No... It's not Martina (she's just my favorite, and I love this photo I got of her at the Grand Ol' Opry). Give up? Sugarland is coming to concert in Ames, Iowa. I wanna go! I wanna go! I ♥ Sugarland! Oh well - it's on a Thursday, and we really can't afford a concert anyway.

Plus, my husband has spent all last night and all this morning putting music on one of the two flash drives my aunt sent us as an anniversary gift. Can you say spoiled? Yes, she totally spoils us.

Oh - and there's a song from Beetlejuice (the movie) that pops into my head almost daily. Hmmmm can't figure out why. (*grinning* at Bear)

Hmmmm, maybe I could save up enough money to go to the concert by switching to online auto insurance. Nah, I doubt it. ;-)

Well, I've gotta go round up some doggies and head to work.

I Morphed into a Pretty Woman

I saw this when I was visiting the blog of my very special friend, Bubba's Sis. I thought it looked like fun, and decided to try it. I wasn't really surprised at the results, because, for years, I have had many people tell me I look like this person. In fact, my own dad was the first one to ever say it. If I remember correctly, we were watching Sleeping with the Enemy when he started looking at me and then the television, and then me and back to the television. I asked what he was doing and he exclaimed, "Honey, you look like her!" After that, I started hearing it everywhere. Even perfect strangers would walk up to me and ask, "Excuse me, but do you know who you look like?" I used to reply with, "Yeah, I WISH!", because I never really saw the resemblance. Hubs says he thinks it's the smile. My buddy Bear says he doesn't see the resemblance at all... wonder what he'll say after watching this ;-)

Misty Dawn... no... Julia Roberts... no... Misty Dawn
What do you think? Is there a resemblance or not?

Camera-Critters #19

This is what happens when a Border-Collie-Mommy gets frustrated because she can't open Camera-Critters for people to sign in, gives up, and sneaks out early to go for a walk, without properly notifying the 'Watch Crew'.

"Taaaaaaag! Hey Tag! Come quick!
There's someone coming down the road!
Seriously Taaaaaaag! There's someone coming!"
(c) Misty DawnS

"What? Huh? There's someone coming!?!? I'm on my way!"
"Don't come one step closer! I have a Tag watching my back!"
(c) Misty DawnS

"HEY! WAIT! That's not 'someone' - that's MOM!!!"
"Mom, Mom, It's MOMMMMMMM"
(c) Misty DawnS

"I really didn't mean it Mom. I really wasn't gonna sick Tag on you
HONEST! Awwww come on Mom, it was an easy mistake."
(c) Misty DawnS

"We're all good? No problems, right?
I mean you'll just overlook that little incident, right Mom?"
(c) Misty DawnS

"OK, fine. Will you forgive me if
I scatter sticks throughout the yard
pick up sticks for ya?"
(c) Misty DawnS

Before you head out to buy some religious jewelry, why not do a Camera-Critters post first?

It's a Ball!

(c) Misty DawnS

Molly has some great friends out there. She has been in a severe depression after losing her last Holee Roller in the pond last Summer. She was so pitiful that Hubs even went into the pond this Summer to see if he could find the lost Holee Roller balls, but was unsuccessful.

Well, much to Molly's delight, a site has been found where we can order these precious, most fantastic, greatest-ball-in-the-whole-wide-world, toys. So, I will be able to start overloading you with more super-duper I can catch a ball while a puppy is attached to my throat action shots! I can tell you just can't wait ;-) Hey, would you rather talk about futures trading? Yeah, that's what I thought. I think Molly needs to get a job though... these balls aren't cheap. *sigh* Can you say spoiled?

GAD

(c) Misty DawnS

Thanks to my Bear buddy, I now have a reason to actually look forward to a weekday. I have a new favorite show, called Greatest American Dog (GAD). I love it, but I must admit I'm all about the dogs (shocked, aren't you?). I have a hard time remembering the humans' names, but I sure remember the dogs :-) My favorite pairs are Teresa and Leroy (Border Collie - yes, I see you are shocked again) and Bill and Star (Brittany). Teresa and Bill are good friends too, in fact, Teresa gave up one of her gold bone trophies, and the privileges that came with it so Bill could see photos of his wife back home. I'm not ashamed to admit that I cried... and cried...and well, hey - it was touching!

As I watch the show though, I must admit, I can't help but sit there and think... "Maggie May could do that!" or "Molly could do that!". Yes, Tag could do it too, but Tag wouldn't deal well with all the humans being around.

If you're a dog lover like me, you'll love this show too. It's on CBS on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Central.

Wordless Wednesday

Before you say you've seen this photo on my other blog,
Please take the time to look closer.
Many people thought I was just being silly and calling
the tractor a Critter when I posted it on my other blog.
There really IS a real - live - breathing critter here.
This is honestly not JUST a tractor.
Do you see it?

Where To Go

I'm going to admit one of my faults to you. I'm horrible with directions. That is, I'm horrible with picturing directions in my head. However, I can follow a map or written directions just fine. I also tend to panic when I have to go somewhere I have never been. Therefore, I always want a map or written directions when I'm going somewhere new. Luckily, there is a website which provides a local search and also provides yellow pages and driving directions.

Considering we haven't lived in this area long, I feel like I never know where I need to go or how I need to get there. This site allows me to find and print directions, and it also provides me with the local yellowpages.

Hmmmm. Maybe I should use it for my upcoming wedding anniversary to find a local restaurant and make Hubs take me out to eat! Yes, I think that's a good plan. Now... what kind of food am I in the mood for?

Heads or Tails *Supply*

Heads or Tails has its very own home now! If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is "Supply". So, I've reached into my supply of flower photographs, so I could supply you with some beauty today :-) I hope you enjoy and are supplied with beautiful reasons to smile today!

I love Rose of Sharon, and this friend had a very large supply of them,
so, I happily snapped away ;-)
(c) Misty DawnS

Aren't these just beautiful?
(c) Misty DawnS

*Sigh* Mother Nature sure provides us with an
endless supply of beauty.

Make It Empire Today

As most of you know, when we moved to this state, the house we moved into was very small. It also required some very necessary and immediate home improvements. So, we decided to try to save money by taking care of multiple things at one time, and while we were pouring new cement walls, we decided to pour the foundation for an addition to the house. Now, not only will this provide us some much needed space, it will also provide me with the ability to use my opinion and special touches to really make this 'our home'. That is really exciting to me, because this is the first home Hubs and I have ever moved into together. In the old state, I just moved into Hubs’ home that he had already owned.

A couple obvious things we will need are flooring and carpet. Not only will I want the master bedroom carpet to be soft and beautiful, I will also need to replace the guest bedroom carpet, since it is stained and has snags in it. Oh, and I’m dreaming of some beautiful laminate flooring in the kitchen, while Hubs wants ceramic tiles in the entrance way. We’re going to be living here for a very long time, and we want to be proud and comfortable in our home.

I'm sure most of you have seen the Empire Today Commercials. You know the jingle... "800-588-2300 Empire!" They have been the leading provider of installed home furnishing and improvements for over 45 years, and with their in-home shopping and demonstrations, you'll definitely see why. They definitely make it easy to pick the perfect carpet and flooring for your home! In my experience, it has always been difficult to pick out furnishings or colors for my home while being in the store. I would get home, and then realize that it didn’t really match the colors like I wanted, and I would be disappointed.

When you hear "Empire Carpet", don't be misled! They provide not only carpet, but also hardwood, laminate, and ceramic flooring. They even go beyond floor improvements and offer window treatments and bath & shower linings. I absolutely love hardwood floors and think they are beautiful. So, naturally, we will have lots of hardwood flooring in the house. Oh, and the window treatment services really caught my attention, because NONE of the new windows in this house are finished. In addition to selling you the products to beautify your home, they also provide complete, customer-satisfaction guaranteed, installation services. Here is a link to some of their Empire Today Bath Stories so you can see for yourself.

So, when you want to beautify your home and receive top-notch customer service, remember this...

I Smiled

(c) Misty DawnS

Today was a long, rough day. I must admit, it was hard to put a smile on my face, but, when you work with the public, that is a must. So, I smiled, and I got through the day.

When I got home, I was greeted by a surprise package that one of my bestest buds had sent to me! There's nothing like getting an unexpected surprise in the mail. It certainly brightens your day. This very special surprise will be cherished and proudly displayed always - just as this friendship will always be cherished. Anyone who is ignorant enough to say that friendships made over the internet are not 'true' or 'real' friendships doesn't have a clue.

Here's the ironic part of it. I had just finalized the arrangements to surprise my friend with a package, but he beat me to the 'surprise punch'!

I guess gmta, Bear!
Thank you - for everything!

Itchy, Bumpy Hands

OK - I'm in search for someone who can relate to a medical condition. No, I'm not going to ask about diet pills. I'm asking about this stupid condition that I get on my hands, mostly all over my fingers. Most people who see it say "Oh, Poison Ivy." However, it is not Poison Ivy. I get this every year. Well, actually, I think I pretty much always have it, but it just changes in severity. Each year, it gets worse. Now, I've got them on my feet too. UGH!

Here's a brief description. I have no idea what it is, and any doctor has always just given me creams to put on my hands and fingers, and that just makes them feel icky and itch more. I get bumps, upon bumps, upon bumps all over my fingers. The bumps are filled with fluid, similar to poison ivy, but I reiterate this is not Poison Ivy. Trust me, I know Poison Ivy all to well. Once the bumps have been broken open, they will leave discolored dead skin on my fingers. But, more and more bumps continue to form, you can see them under the skin before they finally appear above the skin. I've notice that if I get stressed out, it gets worse. Hot, humid days seem to make it worse too, but I'm assuming that has something to do with sweating aggravating it. My fingers are an absolute mess right now - they are covered in these bumps and itching like mad... to the point I just wanna scream!

So, you're wondering why am I asking all of you? Because the Blogosphere is HUGE. I'm hoping one of my friends out here is shaking their head right now saying "Yep, I know EXACTLY what that is."

Camera-Critters #18

So, there was this husband, who always claimed his wife was overly-critter crazy.
"Yep, she can't resist any critters. She's a big softy." He would say.
Yet, throughout their seven years of marriage (as of this month),
the wife discovered that said husband was just as much a critter-crazy fool as she.
So, when said husband come home with some speckled eggs one day,
what was the wife to say?

"I couldn't leave them out there in the middle of the field." He explained.
The mother had left them, she wasn't coming back, and Mr. Undercover-Softy
felt responsible.

So, in a box the eggs were placed.
Wife and Hubs both doubted anything would happen,
but they had to try.

So, wife came home after a long day at work and walked into the kitchen.
As she was standing there, she heard some chirping.
She thought... could it be? No, I'm crazy. I must have heard a bird outside.
But, she decided to peer over the side of the box anyway...

(c) Misty DawnS

WAIT!!! The chirping IS coming from the box!
More specifically, it's coming from an egg with a hole punched in it!
(c) Misty DawnS

So, she quickly ran to her computer and announced in instant messages to
two of her best buds (*waving* Hi Tam! Hi Bear!) that one of the eggs was hatching.
"Take pictures!" Was Tam's reply, while at the same time,
the message box from Bear was blinking, with the message
"Take pictures!" typed in it.
So...
Wife stood tippy-toed on a pile of miscellaneous things
she found throughout the house and had piled up to allow her to get a
'birds-eye view' (pardon the pun)... and...
she took pictures!

Yup! Definitely something punching holes in that there egg!
(c) Misty DawnS

WHOA baby! There's a baby comin' outta that egg!
Feathers... we have feathers.
(c) Misty DawnS

"Ummm, 'scuse me lady, but I'm trying to be born here."
"Are you my Momma?"
(c) Misty DawnS

"Dang it was cramped in there!"
"I'm breaking outta this joint!"
(c) Misty DawnS

"Whadda ya mean I gots big feet???"
(c) Misty DawnS

"Hellooooooo? Anybody in there?"
(c) Misty DawnS

"YUP! I knew it! There WAS someone in there!"
"Hi! I'm Ling. I was born yesterday. You come here often?"
(c) Misty DawnS

"Dang Ting! I mighta been born yesterday, but you think this woman knows
what temperature this should be at?"
(c) Misty DawnS

"Ummmm LINGGGGG! LING!!! Could you PLEASE get offa me?!?!"
"Geesh, you've been picking on me ever since I came outta that egg!"
(c) Misty DawnS

So, that's the story of Ling and Ting.
Do you know what they are?
DUH, YES, I already knew they were birds! *smacking forehead*

I ask you...
which came first...
the...

TURKEY or the egg?
