Camera-Critters #57

This is a story of the "House that They Built"...

You see... once upon a time (a year ago)
there was this crazy little chic with a big camera
who liked to go on walks.
On these walks, with eyes and ears open,
she noticed many things.
Such as this 'house'...
And she wondered...

(c) Misty DawnS

Could this 'house' possibly be built by a couple of these?
But, alas, the Evil Tick-Monsters were just too nasty
to allow the crazy little chic to enjoy many more such walks
in her peaceful 'Heaven' of the woods.
But THEN -
the crazy little chic with the big camera read an e-mail
(cuz she spends the majority of her life with a computer).
And, she thought... "What the heck, I'll give these
Bounce dryer sheet things a try like they suggest."

(c) Misty DawnS

So... once upon a time, a year later (this year)...
She tucked Bounce dryer sheets in each of her socks
and in every pocket she had, and she headed out
to her precious woods (and the Evil Tick-Monsters stayed at bay!!!)
She stood beneath the 'house' and she heard
chirp, chirp, chiiiiiiiiiiirp -
Although difficult to hear with Mom and Dad flying overhead
screaming like mad at the crazy little chic.

But THEN...
Oh THEN...
She saw what she had been waiting for...
Do you see it them too? (look closely)
(c) Misty DawnS

And, the crazy little chic with the big camera was happy,
and she smiled and thought to herself...
"Yes, nature is precious, and life is good."
Even though Mom and Dad were still
circling above, screaming their heads off,
and desiring to peck the crazy little chic's
eyeballs out. But, that's OK. That's what she came there for.

P.S. I ♥ Bounce dryer sheets!!!

The End.

Misty, that's awesome! I love the babies in the nest.

And I didn't know Bounce dryer sheets kept ticks away! very cool.

Beautifully told, Mist.

Very cool, love the babies. We see these HUGE nests on the top of the light posts on the highway, etc. never a place I can stop and photograph them. Did see a big one outside the zoo this week, but didn't have the right lens with me to zoom in on it!

My Camera Criiters.

Awwww ... look at those little fluffy heads peering out !! Cool photos !!

Bounce dryer sheets keep ticks away ? That was something that I wasn't aware of. I'm going to tuck that tip away, as hopefully we will be going for a hike in the mountains soon and the ticks around here carry lyme disease and other nasties..

Wonderful story, Misty and great shots! Too cool! Here's to Bounce!

Oh well done! Who'd have thought Bounce dryer sheets could be so useful?!

Fantastic shot(s).

Beautiful chicks, how eager they look. Loved your story too.

What a cute cool nest. I bet those chicks are dying to get out. Great Story! Happy Mother's Day...

Great story and great shots! :-)

Heather D

Very cute é they have keen eyes looking right at you from within the nest. so cute

Susan Cook

Great shots. The little birds are so cute. I had a few osprey and blue jays try to attack me before.

I hadn't heard the trick with the bounce dryer sheets. I'll have to try that. TFS.

Applause! Great story and pictures. :-)

Enjoyed both the story and the shots!

*Running off to find Mike*

MiKeeeeeeeeeeeee... can we have a baby bird?????

What do you mean no???

Fine. I'm going back to my computer.

That is so cute!!!

How lucky you are to get to see the babies! I can't wait to see the local hatchlings.

that's a huge nest!

I was thinking the first photo might be a Squirrel's nest. 8v)

Nice photo of the chicks looking down at you. That is so cool.

I hope I get the chance to see eagle chicks on the nest here someday.

OMGOSH what great pictures and love your story. The babies are so sweet.

Fantastic shot!! Well worth the effort!

Müge Tekil

Oh these baby birds are so cute! Congratulations for this beautiful discovery!

Great shots of the red-tailed hawk and the chicks in the nest. Yes, nature is precious, indeed. I'll have to try those bounce dryer sheets for ticks.

Adrienne Zwart

Oh, Misty. What a fantastic shot! I'm so excited for you to see the babies! So the Bounce sheets really work? That would smell so much better than insect spray!

Great story, cool pictures of the chic. I would never have guessed of that use for a bounce sheet.

Great shot, you're very lucky. I liked the story too. Thanks for sharing

You lucky crazy chic! Great shot of the fluffy babies.
The dryer sheet tip is worth trying out in our neck of the woods too ;-)

I always love your stories along with your critter photos!
Hugs and blessings,

oooh! i love the last one, especially with that little bird peeking out!
