Camera-Critters #78

The Monarch butterflies are starting their migration south.

When there, they will hibernate...

I'm thinking the Monarchs have it figured out...
Head south when the weather gets cold...
and then just rest in the warmth.

Beautiful! We raised about 30 of them this summer at the park. It is so cool to watch them go through the changes. Such nice photos!

Beautiful. The color and detail on the Monarch is perfect.
Yes, resting in the warmth sounds very good, especially as it starts to grow cold here.

Who would have thought the Butterfly would be one of the smartest creatures in nature, here for the summer and south in the winter, a good gig if you can get it.

In spite of the chilly weather, I've seen two this week. Yesterday, one was very high up, fluttering around the end of a branch. I wondered if it was just pausing for a moment to rest before flying on. We didn't have very many monarchs this year, so I sure hope the ones that I've seen make it to their destination.

Calico Crazy
