OK, how about now.
Now you see the critter, right?

Ahhh, there. Now you definitely can see it.
Camouflage at it's best!

I had actually spooked this and another deer unintentionally. I was walking along the woods, with my mind on the gate my husband had asked me to close for him. My mind and senses were not open as they would be when I'm on a walk looking for nature and wildlife. These deer got spooked and started to run, but this one decided to stop and check me out. I guess it thought it was well enough camouflaged to allow it to take some time to see what I was up to. So, we stared through the leaves and branches at each other for awhile, and then we both turned and went our separate ways.

What a beautiful deer! It is awesome when you see an animal in the wild pausing to check you out for a while. Wonderful pictures of that special moment you and the deer shared.

Deer are so gorgeous, and I love how she's staring right at you.

It seems there are different characters and temperaments in all areas of the natural world. Maybe this deer will become an alpha deer in due course or maybe it has yet to learn what danger is! (not you, of course . . . )

Kitty

Such a beautiful moment. Lovely!

Skittles

Darn it.. I was looking on the branches. ;P

Adrienne in Ohio

Very cool encounter, Misty.
I startled the mama and her fawns (are they still called fawns even after their spots are gone?) yesterday morning. They were browsing through my flower beds looking for something tasty. I love how they stop and look straight at you to size up the situation.

Carolyn Ford

Beautiful deer hiding in the shadows of the trees and bushes...beautiful captures and series of distance.
