Camera-Critters #89

The other day, I had a package in my mailbox when I got home. When I opened the package, it was a dog page-a-day calendar. I was thrilled with the package contents, because I absolutely LOVE these calendars, and I actually have a little dream of being a freelancer for Workman Publishing. Shhhh don't tell them, they'll laugh at me. Anyway...

I couldn't figure out how and why I got this calendar. My lawyer-boss used to buy me a dog page-a-day calendar each year, but the return address was Workman Publishing on this package. I just couldn't figure it out.

Finally, Hubs came home. "There was nothing else in the package?" he asked.

So, I checked the package again, and that's when I found a single sheet of paper which I hadn't noticed before. It said, "As a winner in our on-line photo contest on you receive a free 2010 Pageaday Calendar..."

I just stood there. Hubs said, "Wow! That's cool." I said "Yeah, and I feel like a moron!" Now Hubs was confused... until I explained.

"Hubs, I won a contest and didn't even know I won it! Not only didn't I know I won, but I have absolutely no idea which photo was the winner! I'm a moron!"

Well, I, of course, couldn't just accept that I won a contest and NOT know which photo won the contest, so I sent John, the Photo Editor, an e-mail to ask him. He didn't reply, so I e-mailed him again (persistent little brat, aren't I?). This time he called me at work... he called me. A real live publishing company's photo editor called me. This is what my dreams are made of, people.

But, alas, I was at work and on another call, so John went to my voicemail... yeah, my life works like that. Didn't even get the chance to say, "Hey, by the way, you really need to hire me as a freelancer. Sure, I'll send you some samples of my work. No problem." No, instead he heard, "Hi, you've reached the desk of Misty Dawn. Unfortunately, I'm unable to take your call right now...." MAJOR Pffffft!!!

He did, however, leave me a message, and from what he said, I believe the below photo is the winning photo. I took it in 2007, right after we moved here.

I'm thinking if this 2-year old photo won, I can't wait for them to see what I can do with my DSLR! So, I'll be entering the contest again this year, and this time, I'll write down which photos I enter! ;-) You should enter too - it's fun! They have a dog page-a-day and a cat page-a-day contest.

**Workman Publishing, nor Page-A-Day did NOT sponsor this post in any way, shape, or form.**

How cool, CONGRATS! It is a cute photo of your cute doggies.

The dogs are so posing for the camera. They would be a pleasure to photograph. Right now, our dog is upset because we are snowed in and she can't figure out where to use the bathroom outside. Her paws don't break the surface of the white stuff!

How exciting is that?!!!! Well done and I hope you win again. Thanks for the links!

Too bad you missed the editor's call, but it seems to be Murphy's Law that the most desired calls always come the instant you step away from the phone!
