Song Sharing Sunday

Song Sharing Sharing Badge

I Want To Be Loved - Bon Jovi

I had a roof overhead
Had shoes on my feet
Sure I was fed, but no-one was there
When I was in need, yeah

So who am I now?
Who do you want me to be?
I can forgive you, but I won't relive you
I aint the same scared kid I used to be

[Chorus]
I'm gonna live
I'm gonna survive
Don't want the world to pass me by
I'm gonna dream
I aint gonna die
Thinking my life was just a lie
I wanna be loved
I wanna be loved

I found a picture
Our so-called family tree, yeah
I broke all the branches, looking for answers
Don't you know that aint how it's supposed to be

[Chorus]
I'm gonna live
I'm gonna survive
Don't want the world to pass me by
I'm gonna dream
I ain't gonna die
Thinking my life was just a lie
I wanna give
I'm ready to try
Willing to lay it on the line
I wanna be loved
I wanna be

I aint gonna cry
I dont wanna scream
But i got so much left unsaid inside of me

[Chorus]

I just wanna be loved
I wanna be loved

Web Hosting Help

Many of us bloggers decide to take that extra step with our blog and get our own domain name. Some bloggers even decide they want to purchase dedicated hosting for their blogs. When I bought domain names for my blogs, I needed instructions to help me through the process of 'switching over' to the new domain. So, I know darn well that if I purchased a hosting package, I'd be in search of web hosting tutorials to assist me in the process.

Since I have two blogs, or three, if you count Camera-Critters, I would want to find a hosting package that would allow me to host all of my blogs. In other words, I would be looking for information on multiple domain hosting. Then all my blogs could live together happily ever after. ;-)

Of course, the main deciding factor for me is cost. So, I'd be looking for some affordable web hosting, because money is tight right now. Hey, who you calling cheap?!?! :-P

Camera-Critters #43

Every time I look at this picture, it absolutely cracks me up.
It's like he's mimicking the position his toy is in.

(c) Misty DawnS

Matouk, also known as my boyfriend, loves his stuffed animals. Most people are surprised that he doesn't tear them up or destroy them, but it is exactly the opposite - He treasures his toys and takes very good care of them. The parrot in the photo is named Polly. Polly was a gift to Matouk from my very dear friend Bear. When I went to Ohio over Thanksgiving, I took Polly to Matouk. From the moment Matouk laid eyes on Polly, she (Polly) was given the most special treatment you could imagine.

When my dad gets ready for bed each night, he finds Polly in his bed. You see, Matouk takes Polly to the bedroom, pulls the comforter back, places Polly on the pillow, and then covers her with the comforter. I guess he's just making sure his parrot is comfortable and tucking her in for a nap.

I swear, he's the only wolf I know of who owns Beanie Baby stuffed animals!

Downloading Drivers

Many times, I've been told my friends and family that they have a computer peripheral that they are just going to throw away, because they don't have the installation CD for it. I then explain to them that all they need to do is download the proper drivers, and it should work.

Sometimes, this is as simple as going to the manufacturer's website and searching for your product's latest driver. For example, you would go to Hewlett Packard's website to download hp drivers for your printer.

However, sometimes the product you have is not manufactured any longer, and, therefore, the website may not have new or current downloads to make your product work. That is when you can check a site like driverssoftware.com to look for the driver you need. I'm trying to get a router to work. So, I'll be searching for the correct netgear drivers, and then, hopefully, I'll be up and running!

Oh By the Way...

I am noticing that, after I make a post with a photo in it, when I view that post on a computer other than my laptop, the photo is much darker than I realized :-( I didn't really want to change the settings of the screen on my laptop, but I'm beginning to realize that I need to, because what are looking like good photos on my screen do not look good on your screens/monitors.

I'm feeling lousy. I'm getting sick, I had a bad night last night, and I feel overwhelmed mentally and emotionally. I'm also bummed, because there is a local photo contest and the deadline is tomorrow, but I can't enter because I don't have frames or matting. Oh well, there will be more; that's the least of my concerns right now.

Another thing - Maggie May's birthday is in February. Are y'all interested in another Doggy Bloggy Birthday Bash, or was a first-year-bash enough?

Lastly, please be patient with my 'extra posts' over the next few days. I've got to take opportunities to help at home whenever I can. ;-)

Camping for History

With my hectic life right now, I feel like I never have any time to relax. More importantly, I feel like Hubs and I just pass by each other without really 'being with' each other. Eventually, when the bills get caught up, we'll be able to plan vacations. Perhaps Hubs, a lover of history, would like to do some gettysburg camping some day.

Considering how I am clueless when it comes to history, I'm sure I would learn a lot. More importantly, I would be happy as long as Hubs enjoyed himself. If we had an rv, it would be even more fun! I could simply do a search for pa rv camping, and we'd be on our way to a fun vacation.

Hey, my in-laws have a motorhome! Maybe I should do a search for rv camping gettysburg for them! Someday, even if it will probably be quite a ways into the future, Hubs and I will be able to take the time to do the things we dream of and spend quality time together too.

Looking at the Sky on Friday #6

WooHooo! It's Friday! Not only is it the end of the work week for most people (not me, I've still got to work, but that's beside the point), it's also time for the fun and wonderful meme where we spend our time Looking at the Sky on Friday!

My photo for this week was taken at the same time as my Looking at the Sky photo from last week was taken. However, I had this problem... I couldn't choose which one was my favorite, and since I claimed that last week's would probably be one of my top ten favorite sunset photos I've ever taken, well, that means I like this one quite a bit.

(c) Misty DawnS

Actually, now that I look at both of them, I think I like this one the best.

No... wait... the other one is better.

No... maybe this one...

Don't worry folks, I'll work this out with myself ;-)

While I'm working on that...

The New Yukon

I have always liked SUVs (sport utility vehicles). When you combine the fact that we love outdoor activities with the fact that we are farmers, an SUV or truck is the most logical vehicle. So, I find information about these vehicles, such as gmc yukon reviews, intriguing.

Now, there is absolutely no way we can afford a new vehicle right now, but the 2009 gmc yukon looks to be quite the vehicle. It even received an 8.4 rating out of 10 at carconnection.com where a group and experts and users completed reviews and ratings on the gmc yukon.

Eventually, the SUV we currently own may need replaced. At that time, I'm sure we'll put a lot of thought and research into the vehicle we want for a replacement, including those made by gmc. Most importantly, it must hold all my fishing gear! ;-)

Heads or Tails *Loud*

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is HEADS -"Loud".

Y'all tired of hearing about my boyfriend yet? Tough, because I never get tired of talking about him ;-) Besides, I've been in pain the last two days, so I'm irritable, which means you have to just put up with me.

Matouk Sings. Matouk Talks. Matouk Mimics. Matouk throws temper tantrums. Matouk Argues.

Matouk is very vocal.

Matouk has no problem expressing himself. Let's just put it that way. ;-)

(c) Misty DawnS

(c) Misty DawnS

And, when you are in the cab of a truck, with the windows up, and Matouk decides that it is time to 'say thanks' for the walk he was just on, and then it is time to let any other wolf who might possibly be within hearing range know that these are Matouk's woods, well, it can get rather loud.

Actually, since he feels he needs to put his muzzle right up against the side of your face (also known as right by your ear), LOUD is an understatement.

He's not always loud though. He has many different tones and pitches, which all mean different things. He's amazing.

Yep, Matouk definitely knows how to express himself.

Dreaming of Relaxing Outdoors

As you know, we have big plans for our house. We have built an addition on the house, which almost doubles the size of the house, and we eagerly plan the layouts of the rooms in that addition.

What you don't know, however, is the area I am most looking forward to enjoying isn't inside the house at all. You see, we have big plans not just for the inside of the house, but also for the outside of the house. More specifically, the deck we plan to build, which will wrap around the front and one side of the house and have a screened-in gazebo type area on the corner. In the gazebo area is where I will have my patio furniture. Then, I will be able to enjoy the Summer evenings without the bugs.

For during the day, when I want to grab a good book (or my laptop) and be outside enjoying the sunshine and fresh air of a beautiful day, I'll be able to kick back and relax on the wicker furniture which will beautify other areas of the deck. I'll be able to sit outside in comfort, with my camera next to me in case I see a photo opportunity, and blog! Life doesn't get any better than that!

I love the sun and love to soak up the rays. However, if the sun gets too bright and is making it difficult to read, I'll have no worries, because I'll just use one of my patio umbrellas.

If you can't tell, I've been dreaming about this 'dream deck' for quite a while, and I've got big plans for it. I've even been window shopping at Today's Swim and Patio (todaysswimandpatio.com). So, when that last nail gets hammered in the deck, I'll know exactly which furniture I want and where I want it.

Well, I guess I should be patient and wait until there isn't snow on the ground. What? Oh, you think I should wait until the deck is built? OK, maybe you're right.

Camera-Critters #42

This past Sunday, I went for what I knew would be my final walk of the weekend, because the sun would be setting, it would be dark, and another work week would be starting. When I left for my walk, Hubs headed down the road to check on the cattle for the last time that day. It was fairly cold, and there wasn't much to photograph, as my critters are very few and far between. So, when Hubs was passing by on his return back to our home, I jumped in the vehicle and said "Take me for a ride to look for deer, please."

So... we went for a drive. However, we didn't see any deer, which is weird because I see deer EVERY.SINGLE.EVENING when I'm driving home from work. I did, however, meet a few new friends, and they are the stars of my Camera-Critters for this week. You'll have to excuse the eyes - it was nearly dark, so I had to use the flash, and I haven't had a chance to alter/correct the photos.

Looking at the Sky on Friday #5

WooHooo! It's Friday! Not only is it the end of the work week for most people (not me, I've still got to work, but that's beside the point), it's also time for the fun and wonderful meme where we spend our time Looking at the Sky on Friday!

If you know me, you know I take an excessive amount of sky photos. Heck, as my close friends know (Hi Bear, Tammy, and Barb *giggle*), I go for walks specifically to get sunset photos. I call those "Sunset Walks"... original, aren't I?

Anyway... I'm going to say something pretty shocking here (no, I didn't get a Slingbox)... This photo probably rates as one of my top 10 all time sky photos I have ever taken, in my opinion. Honestly though, it needs to be viewed larger to fully appreciate it. There are cows and clouds and trees and sun and... well, it's one of my favorites. ;-)

Fish, Mud, & High Heels

I started out like a normal little girl.

But, progressively, my body was taken over by a Tomboy.

Was it the excessive Daddy's Girlness (I just made up that word) in me?

Whatever it was, it continued to grow (along with my eyebrows - geesh!)

Give the girl a fish, and she'll make dinner.

Teach the girl to fish, and she'll forever be a Tomboy.

At least in my case. *sigh*

(at least I plucked those massive growths above my eyes!)

At this point in my life, though, I find myself with an issue...
I need to wear dress clothes to work again, and jewelry, and...
*oh dear* dress shoes... shoes??? I hate shoes! I need to *gasp* find my girly abilities again... they're in there somewhere... I just forget where I put them...

So... who wants to go shopping with me?
Apparently, I should own more than one pair of dress shoes?!?!
What? They're black! They match everything!

I draw the line at taking weight loss pills
though, I need a pill that puts the weight on rather than taking it off.

Camera-Critters #41

It all started when our neighbors (and good friends)
were moving their cattle from one area down the road
to a field across from our house.
They called Hubs and asked if he would help,
and, of course, he agreed.
As the cattle were making their way
down the road,
I just couldn't resist...
(c) Misty DawnS

I quickly grabbed my camera and
ran to the front yard to get some photos.
Then, the cows started to turn around
to go back the way they came.
I quickly ran inside
to hide in case it was my fault
attend to chores I needed to do in the house.
(c) Misty DawnS

Later, Hubs came home and informed me
some idiot had scared the cattle into turning around
the cows were all nice and cozy now in their new home field.
(c) Misty DawnS

So, I went for a walk, knowing I couldn't cause any problems now.
And, that is when...
I spotted HER
(c) Misty DawnS

She stood in the field watching me,
with the sun highlighting her and all her beauty.
(c) Misty DawnS

If I could speak 'cow', I would tell her I think she's gorgeous.
But, I can't speak 'cow'.
So, I just told her "I think you're gorgeous".
Do you think she understood?
(c) Misty DawnS

I wonder if Big Guy here realizes
there's a Hottie in his field.
Someone should tell him.
I would, if I could speak 'cow'.
They should go on a date...
maybe browse on some corn stalks
or hay together and say sweet nothings to each other,
in 'cow'speak, of course.
Oh yes, they could moo the night away.
(c) Misty DawnS

Oh yes, someone should tell Mr. Big Guy
about the Beautiful Bovine over on the
other side of the field.

Looking at the Sky on Friday #4

Most of you know me and my photography (and many obsessions) quite well. Those of you who know me quite well know that I tend to find something I enjoy photographing, and I become a tad bit obsessed with taking photos of that subject. OK, fine - I can hear you guys mumbling... I'll admit it... I become very obsessed... but, hey, that's what you've come to expect from me! I wouldn't want to disappoint you!

Well, I've discovered a new subject to obsess over with my camera...

SILHOUETTES
(c) Misty DawnS

And, I've even began combining photography-subject obsessions...

Cows
(c) Misty DawnS

plus Sunsets
(c) Misty DawnS

= really cool SILHOUETTES.
(c) Misty DawnS

Seriously, now - can you possibly disagree?
OK, now that we've established that I'm right,
you can go back to exercising on your ellipticals.
Sweet dreams and goodnight.

Camera-Critters #40

Now that Winter is here, there aren't very many critters to see...
except birds!
I LOVE seeing the birds of Winter.
When I saw these two hanging out in the tree,
I realized that something was different for me.
(c) Misty DawnS

I knew the larger bird was a Flicker.
I happen to think Flickers are really cool, by the way.
(c) Misty DawnS

But, I had no idea what the other masked bird was.
So, I knew what to do. I asked my buddy Bear.
He always identifies my critters for me.

This pretty little masked bird
is a Shrike.
Isn't it beautiful?

Have You Ever Meme

If you can't tell, I'm trying to catch up on some memes I've been tagged for, because I have been really, really horrible lately about posting memes and awards. OK, I've been worse than horrible, I just haven't done it at all. I'm going to do better though... I've made it one of my unspoken resolutions. hehe

My BBFF Tammy tagged me for this meme.

1. Have you ever been on TV? Yes, I see myself on my TV every time I Windex it :-D

2. Have you ever sung in public? I did Karaoke once, and after everyone pointed at the exit sign when I was done, I vowed to never do it again.

3. Have you ever dyed your hair blond? No, but the sun does every year... My hair lightens to a blonde in the Summer time if I spend a lot of time outside.

4. Have you ever eaten frogs' legs? Yep, but I was young and don't remember what they tasted like.

5. Have you ever received a present that you really hated? Ummmm my aunt hung my very first bra on the outside of my Christmas stocking when I was young... I really hated that. And, I think my body boycotted because of that, cuz I haven't been able to grow anything to put in that bra to this day! OK, sorry TMI, eh?

6. Have you ever walked into a lamp post? I'm always looking at the sky or looking for critters - I run into things ALL the time!

7. Have you ever cooked a meal by yourself for more than 15 people? bwahahahahaha - I'm lucky if I can cook a meal for Hubs and me - cooking is not my strong suit.

8. Have you ever fallen or stumbled in front of others? See the answer to #6

9. Have you ever done volunteer work? Yes.

Looking at the Sky on Friday #3

(c) Misty DawnS

I swear, sometimes I'd forget my own name if I didn't have it plastered all over my blog! I almost forgot to do my Looking at the Sky on Friday post! Sure, that doesn't sound very bad, because many people lose track of time and what day it is, right? Well, it is bad because I have been taking photos specifically for this meme! I've even told Hubs, that I just got some photos for 'Looking at the Sky'. Oh well, at least I did, in fact, remember, even if it is a little late.

It was taken in my front yard, and, yes, we have filled the bird feeder since this photo was taken.

Where my daddy lives, a.k.a.

Innnovative Gadgets for Your Pets

When I got home yesterday, Tag was waiting at the door, because he wanted to go outside for a while. When he came back inside, I watched, with a sad heart, as he hobbled through the room and flopped down on the floor.

My poor boy seems to be in pain more often now. It used to be that he would only be sore after running and 'working' all day on the farm. Now, however, he seems to always be hurting, and it breaks my heart. We assume that he suffers from arthritis, and with the fact that Tag always does everything at 110%, that arthritis is flaring on a regular basis.

Now that Maggie May sleeps in her crate when we aren't there to keep an eye on her to prevent 'Ms. Scissorteeth' from eating anything she can get her teeth on, we have been more serious about looking for a bed for Tag, in order to provide him a more comfortable place to sleep and rest.

Well, I discovered a website which has the perfect solution! This website advertises the company as PetGadgets.com - Innovative Pet Products, and they aren't kidding. They have the coolest and most innovative products not just for dogs, but for all varieties of pets. I'm not kidding. When I found this site, I intended to just look at dog beds, but I found myself spending an hour viewing all the other awesome products they offer.

I found a great bed, which would be perfect for Tag. It's called the K & H Thermo Bed, and, not only could he just rest on it without having to climb up on it, it also has a heater buried in the orthopedic foam of the bed! However, I couldn't stop myself with just finding a bed for Tag. PetGadgets.com also has the coolest dog bed, which would be perfect for Molly! It's actually an end table with a dog bed built into it! If you know Molly at all, you know that she prefers to be in small, enclosed spaces... that's where she feels most secure and comfortable. So, this end table dog bed would be a dream come true for Molly!

OK, I've rambled on enough about my shopping list for my furkids. It's time for you to go shop for yours! Seriously, if you're looking for the perfect item for your pet, regardless of what kind of pet you have, you seriously need to go check out PetGadgets.com. Your pets will thank me!

Heads Or Tails *Three Things Learned in '08*

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is TAILS - Three Things You Learned in 2008

Doesn't Barb realize I was too dang busy to take time to learn anything???

OK - since I sometimes do HoT on BOTH blogs (when I set aside proper time), I have to come up with SIX things (three for each blog... 3+3=6)... *sigh* Does it seem like I'm wasting time and avoiding the question? It does? Hmmmm, maybe that's cuz I am.

OK, OK, I'm thinking!

1. I learned that no matter how busy your schedule is... no matter how many jobs you already have... if you really want heat in your bathroom, you can always find time for one more.

2. 2008 taught me that when choosing which photos to enter in a contest, listen to what your Hubs and best male friend give as their opinions and then completely disregard said opinions. If I had listened to them, I would have missed out on two Honorable Mentions, a First Place, and the Best of Show.

3. I've learned that I am an expert addict multi-tasker... seriously! I can blog, play Wordscraper, do other things on Facebook, send e-mails, listen to the tv, work on photos, AND talk to friends/family on three different instant messengers... ALL.AT.THE.SAME.TIME! Yeah, people strive to reach my multi-tasking talents!

4. I learned that Barb appreciates when people stretch (or break) the rules of her meme, and, therefore, I can get away with posting more than three... even if it is a "TAILS" this week, which technically means I HAVE to do what she says. Nah, I don't hafta, she's used to my being contrary.

5. I learned that when you think time can't go by any faster... just wait til next year!

6. And, did you know... the world is going to end on my husband's birthday in ... ummm, I forget the exact year. Seriously! It was on the History Channel... or Discovery... one of those 'teach ya stuff' channels. Yeah... on his birthday! I learned that this year! Talk about being a funsucker! (hehe thanks for that funny Bear)

7. 2008 taught me that a good dose of "Daddy and the Wolf-Boyfriend" is the best cure for depression and sadness.

8. I learned that some of the greatest people you could ever meet and call friends can be people you've never even seen face-to-face... except for when you were impersonating a gangster, crossing your eyes and making fish-faces, or doing some other totally wacky and embarrassing thing on the webcam.

9. And, last, but definitely not least, I learned there's always room for improvement... So, whether your 2008 was absolutely fantastic or plain lousy... 2009 is gonna be better!

Note to Barb... You said "TAILS - Three Things"... well I gave you "Three" "Three Things"... you know how much I like you, right? So, I was thinking you were really liking the number three...so, I took Three times Three... and I EVEN took Three plus Three PLUS Three! And, I did it all for you, cuz we're great friends and stuff (now just shup!) :-P

OH... and I forgot to tell you (gotta do this, just cuz I don't like odd numbers)
I learned there are many people in the blogosphere who love both critters AND photography as much as I. Hence, the highly successful weekend meme, Camera-Critters. I am deeply grateful to all of you for making it the success that it is!

Camera-Critters #39

We officially call this meeting to order.
We birds are darn tired of being prejudiced against!
We will not stand for it any longer, eh!
You're darn straight we've got our feathers ruffled!
Worried about the fish, eh?
Of COURSE we say 'eh' - we are CANADIAN geese!
You put up a sign protecting the fish...
but what about "No BIRDING", eh?
Keep these prejudicial actions up, and
we'll up and leave for the South - that's what we'll do!
Stick that in your beak and smoke it!

And now you know the truth...
WE are responsible for their flying South for the Winter.
It's all our fault!

Looking at the Sky on Friday #2

(c) Misty DawnS

I took this photo with my dad's camera when I was visiting Ohio over Thanksgiving. When we would take Matouk for a walk, Dad would hand me his camera to stick in my pocket. My camera doesn't fit in my pocket (obviously), and I didn't want to take it on our walks, because I didn't want to expose it to the weather. I was interested to see how the little camera we got Dad last Christmas would work on a photo taken looking directly at the sun. I thought it did a pretty nice job.

Interested in this fun new meme? Just click on the badge at the top of the post and join in.

Don't forget to gather up your critter photos and join Camera-Critters this weekend!!!

They Call Me Misty Dawn

Hi! My name is Misty Dawn, but you can call me "Mist". Now, where do I begin?

I work several jobs. At my full-time job, I am the Online Financial Aid Coordinator for a medical college. My other jobs I do at home as a Virtual Assistant.

My husband, three Border Collies, and I moved our farm from Ohio to Missouri in 2007, and that's when I started this blog. When I first met Hubs, we were a dairy farm. Then, we had sheep, a small herd of beef cattle, and sometimes pigs. Now, we have a large herd of Angus beef cattle.

I also attend college online. I was pursuing an Associates Degree, but decided to go a different direction and get my Website Development Certificate. Now, I will probably transfer my credits and pursue a Bachelors Degree in business.

My main passion is photography, and my dream is to be a freelance photographer for magazines, calendars, greeting cards, etc. Since I shoot nature and animals, I don't expect to make a living with my photography, but to have some of my photos published as a freelancer, would be a dream come true for me.

I am obsessed with nature and being outdoors. I love spending time on nature photo walks, fishing, and camping. Oh, I'm also a daddy's girl and a serious tomboy... so, you won't be coming to me for fashion and makeup tips.

Hubs is quite a bit older than I, so I'm in my mid-thirties and have three adult stepchildren. We also have three Border Collies, who inspired the name of this blog. My dogs own my heart, and they keep me grounded.

Molly a.k.a. Molly-Collie turns 9 years old this month. She's my heart and soul.

Tag a.k.a. Taggy or Bubby is 8 years old. He is Hub's dog, and NO one else's dog, and his favorite thing in the world is working on the farm with Hubs and herding farm equipment.

Maggie May a.k.a. Doodles (short for Puppy Doodles) will be 3 years old in February. She came to us as a 10 week old puppy, and it has been quite the entertaining ride ever since. That's her photo in the header of this blog.

I feel I must also mention Matouk. Matouk is my dad's wolfdog, and he's the most interesting, intelligent, and complex creature I've ever met. I talk about and post photos of Matouk a lot.

ALL four of the above mentioned canines are rescues. I am a strong advocate of rescuing (adopting) animals.

You've probably figured out that I'm an animal lover, and, yes, I'm dog obsessed. I've never met a dog I didn't like, and honestly, I prefer the company of animals over humans most of the time.

Well, I could ramble on and on, but I'd rather you go read my blog posts to learn more about me. For starters, if you still want to know more about me, you can read this - I had been tagged for a meme to write 25 random things about myself... except, I was tagged nine times for this meme, so I ended up taking it quite literally. ;-) If you don't know enough about me after 225 things, then you'll definitely want to subscribe to my blog for daily updates.
