How Much Is That Doggy in the Window?

They say the first step is admitting you have a problem. That's what they say anyway. But, what if you enjoy your addiction? Then it's not really a 'problem', right? Well, I don't believe my dog-addiction is a problem. Others may disagree though (*cough* Hubs *cough*), when every single time I hear or read "Puppies for sale", I start scheming and trying to figure out how I could add a fourth furball to our pack. *Sigh* Give me a break, I already admitted it's an addiction, but I just can't admit it's a problem. Besides, this is just a post. It's not like I went out and brought home another puppy. So, Hubs, if you're reading this, you can relax.

One of the highlights of my day is pulling in my driveway after driving home from work and seeing that Hubs has let the 'kids' out so they could come greet me when I get home. When I see their beautiful faces light up when they realize Mommy is home, and they come running to greet me, a huge smile forms on my face and my heart melts... each and every time. So, no, you will not be seeing any "Dogs for sale" signs in my yard... ever! My dogs own my heart. They love me unconditionally, and, as you know, my dogs keep me sane. ;-)

I happen to know of a co-worker who has Puppies for sale right now. They are Yellow and Black Labrador Retrievers. Oh, and I really want another Great Pyrenees... and another Golden Retriever... and... OK, I better stop now. Seriously though, can you imagine my Maggie-May teaching a puppy everything she knows? Oh boy would we have our hands full! It certainly would be a blast though! I mean, come on, we've got three dogs... what's one more?

Yes, I know, I'm out of control. It's really nothing you didn't already know, right?

Heads Or Tails

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is HEADS -"See".

This Robin was obviously very shy, so it
decided to pretend it couldn't see me.
Either that, or it was trying to see where
that itch under its feathers was coming from.
Or, perhaps it was trying to see how life would be
as a headless Robin.
(c) Misty DawnS

These are some deer, which scared the crap outta me,
because I was focused on some birds when I walked
right up on these deer without seeing them.
After they took off, all I was seeing was the tail!

Directions for Me

When I moved out here, I didn't know where I was going, and I didn't know where any businesses were. OK, fine, I'll admit it, I didn't usually know where I was going before I moved either. Yes, we've established that Misty is horrible with directions. That's why it's convenient for people like me to know about a website which provides the service of giving you a local search.

You can search for, and find addresses for, anything you are looking for, whether it be local restaurants, the nearest grocery store, or the license bureau. Then you can spend more time accomplishing what you need to get done, rather than driving around in search of the place you are trying to find.

Local.com not only provides this service, but they also provide a local yellowpages service. So, not only can you find addresses and directions, but you can also find phone numbers. I think they had me in mind when they designed this site.

Camera-Critters #51

Forgive me for a moment, but
this is one of my most favorite photos I have ever taken.
(c) Misty DawnS

I saw this critter when Hubs and I were on our way for our long walk last weekend.
I asked, "Did you see that?"
Hubs said "No. Do you want me to back up?"
I just gave him that look as he was already putting the vehicle in reverse.
The above photo is what I saw and continued to merrily snap photos of.
Then, the critter decided we had done enough staring at each other.
So, it continued on its way...

(c) Misty DawnS

"Still on my way to my destination...
Why does that woman keep standing there watching me?"
(c) Misty DawnS

"Talk to the tail, Lady.
I've got places to go and things to do!"
(c) Misty DawnS

"I'm outta this joint.
This pond ain't big enough for the two of us."
(c) Misty DawnS

"Ah ha! I see an escape route now!
See ya later, Camera-Lady!"

Looking at the Sky on Friday

WooHooo! It's Friday! Not only is it the end of the work week for most people (not me, I've still got to work, but that's beside the point), it's also time for the fun and wonderful meme where we spend our time Looking at the Sky on Friday! (Click on the badge to join on the fun!)

(c) Misty DawnS

Trust me on this - this photo is really cool when viewed larger.

These ducks were visiting my pond last weekend. I was taking photos of them while they were on the pond, and I snapped a few photos when they flew from the pond. I was a bit surprised to discover that this was my favorite photo out of the series of shots I got of the Northern Shovelers and ... ummmm... (crap where's Bear when I need him... I know he said 'something-Teals'. Ohhhh Bear will be so disappointed in me. hehe). Anyway, these are Northern Shovelers and 'something-Teals'. At the risk of sounding conceited, I think this photo is really awesome when you view it large.

I'm so happy with them, that I considered saving them for next week, since it will be the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY... but I can't wait that long - I kinda lack in the patience department when I'm excited about something.)

A Puppy No More

(c) Misty DawnS

It has come time for me to accept the fact that my 'puppy' really isn't a puppy anymore. She's two years old, and each day it seems she's looking more and more mature. Yes, I realize I sound like a mother talking about her child - so what! My baby is growing up... *waaaaaahhhh*. My Molly is now eight years old; Tag is seven years old; and my baby is two years old. *Sigh* Time goes too fast. So, either I need to check into social security... OR, I could just get another puppy. Yeah - I'm thinking that second option is a FANTASTIC idea. Who volunteers to talk Hubs into it for me???

Heads or Tails *Common*

Heads Or Tails

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is HEADS -"Common". When I took this photo in June, I was extremely excited to show it to my friend, Bear, because we each have a love of nature, animals, and, yes, bugs. I had seen these gigantic, helicopter-sized dragonflies flying around all over the place, but was unable to get one to hold still long enough for me to take a photo. When I got this photo, I excitedly rushed home to show Bear. He replied with, "Common Green Darner". I replied with, "BEAR! First of all, it's BLUE! Second of all, there's NOTHING 'COMMON' about this gorgeous bug!" Bear laughed (and probably shook his head) and informed me that he was not insulting my captured critter, he was simply telling me the technical name of it. Ohhhhh, O.K. then. So, here it is, and, trust me, there's NOTHING 'COMMON' about this cool creature!

(c) Misty DawnS

I've been up since 2 a.m. No, this isn't 'common'... It is due to the storms we had last night, which produced winds which made me think my bedroom window was going to be blown right out of the wall and onto my bed. I'm sure I'll be exhausted by this afternoon and wishing I could climb under my desk to take a name and dream about laptop deals. What? Isn't it common to dream about laptops?

Today's Flowers *Kalanchoe*

I hope I'm still welcome at the Today's Flowers meme, considering I haven't participated for so long *hanging head in shame*.

These beautiful flowers adorn the Kalanchoe, which my lawyer-boss in Ohio bought me for Secretary's Day one year. I especially love this gift, because it blooms and brings beauty to my home when nothing else is blooming.

(c) Misty DawnS

We put the Kalanchoe on a desk by the window, and, apparently, it likes it there, because it has really grown and its stems reach to the window to enjoy the sunshine. It has produced more flowers than ever this year too.

Camera-Critters #50

* * Disclaimer * *
I had WAY too much fun with this bird,
which would be why I took an excessive amount of photos
of this bird,
which would probably be why this bird
haunts my dreams...
with its iridescent feathers, long and pointy beak and...
EVIL EYE.
Seriously - I ain't kiddin' ya!
Just look at the pictures - they speak for themselves!
You'll see... just don't look too long and hard - you'll have
NIGHTMARES.
Don't say I didn't warn ya!

Looooong and pointy beak...
(c) Misty DawnS

Shiny, iridescent feathers...
(*humming* the coat of many feathers... errr colors, my mama gave to me...)
Oh yeah, where were we... proceed to next pic now, please....
(c) Misty DawnS

Let's take another look at the iridescence and that
dang pointy beak!!!
Seriously - that would hurt!! I'm just sayin'!
And then we have... (psst - scroll to the next pic now)
(c) Misty DawnS

People!!! I TRIED to warn you, but you did NOT listen!
What do I have to do to get you to listen to me?
Oh, don't give me that "It's your CC post, and I had to look." excuse.
Just don't come runnin' to me when you have nightmares from this...

The...
Eye...
of...
Evil...

Does that not feel like it's boring right into your brain, or what???
(c) Misty DawnS

Hey... come back... it's O.K. I didn't mean to scare ya!
It's just a picture!!!

They are preparing to put a water tower right down the road from me. It will be along one of my photo walk paths. So... yes, you will probably, eventually, see photos of a water tower in front of the sunsets. Hey, water towers are good photo subjects... right??? Apparently, there was a bit of an 'issue' when this piece of equipment was being delivered to this destination... gravel roads, ditches, and large trailers hauling large pieces of equipment just don't mix, I guess ;-)

Meet My Friends Monday #2

I'm very excited to do this meme this week, because I definitely have a fitting post for it. This is because I actually had the wonderful and exciting pleasure of meeting one of my online friends in person!!! Yep! I met Barb (a.k.a. Skittles) of Skittles Place!

It was so much fun meeting her, although I already feel like I've known her forever. I had thought that if I ever met one of my online friends I would be very nervous. However, that wasn't the case when I met Barb. It was like we had hung out together many times... probably because we have, only virtually. I had a blast - Barb and Mike are really fun people, and we have many inside jokes... some of which inspired them to get me the present pictured below...

Some of the inside jokes that may make some of you raise your eyebrows or shake your heads:
"You can keep your dang Band-Aids!"
"SEE! It IS possessed! It keeps snorting and watching me!"
"You mean my little thing is losing its overdrive???"
"Shup Mike, nobody asked you."
"That might be what I said, but it's not what I meant! Duh!"
"Huggin' and Luvin' the Banana"
"The Capers of Gina's Worldy Travels"
"Anti-Windmill Painting Protesters"
"I have abilities - they's just small."
Oh there are soooooo many more. All I can say is Barb and Mike are great people and a lot of fun... It was so awesome meeting them!

Last weekend, all it did was rain, hail, rain, storm, and rain some more. I asked Hubs on Saturday night, "It is supposed to rain all day Sunday too???". He replied that it was not, and I would be able to go for some photo walks. Well, I woke up Sunday morning to the sound of rain. I stumbled into the room where Hubs was and exclaimed that he had been wrong, because it WAS raining! He pointed out the window to show me that the clouds were clearing and the rain had stopped. I asked if he thought I could go for a walk. "Yes", he replied. "Do you think I'll get rained on?" I asked. "Nope. It's clearing." So, I went for a walk and thought the skies were rather interesting.

(c) Misty DawnS
Then, as I was taking some photos, I turned and looked behind me and discovered that the sky behind me was completely dark. A Red-Winged Blackbird landed in a tree next to me, and I swear he started laughing at me. I swear it! So, I proceeded to walk at a very fast pace towards home. Then... it thundered, and I thought, "Ruh Roh!" Then the HAIL started to fall from the sky. Yes, I said HAIL. So, I put the camera in the camera bag, clutched it to my chest, and began to sprint down the road for home. I had forgotten how fast I could run, until I had hail falling from the sky, and was concerned about my camera. Nope, I didn't need any Jillian Michaels workouts that day, I think my sprint down the road filled my exercise requirements for the day.

Heads or Tails *Springtime Memory*

Heads Or Tails

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is TAILS -"Springtime Memory".

I have lots of Springtime memories... especially after moving to Missouri. Too many memories of sitting on my floor reassuring my fur-kids that 'It's O.K. It's just thunder. Calm down'. Yes, we get many storms. In fact, it has been raining here for three days. Saturday and Sunday involved thunder, rain, lightning, rain, HAIL, and... RAIN. As a result, we've got flooding. To top it off, the winds are supposed to get up to 40 MPH by this evening with windchills of zero. Can you say "black ice"? UCK. I'm tellin' ya - Mother Nature hates me!

There are, however, good Summertime memories too - flowers, beautiful sunsets, and...

Time with these two beautiful girls...
"Let's remember this Spring day forever, Sis.
Give me a lil' kiss!"

(c) Misty DawnS

P.S. I apologize for posing so late - ESPECIALLY since I'm the guest host of Heads or Tails this week! My internet connection was on the fritz last night, and I couldn't get anything done. You guessed it - it was due to the storms. :-(

"Sometimes you feel like a nut..."
"Wait! Was that Nuts Anonymous meeting today?"
"This tree is exclusive; only squirrels with membership cards get in."

Guess what! No... guess! No, I didn't save a bunch of money on disability life insurance; good guess though. Fine, I'll tell you. I got to go on a walk yesterday evening!!! WoooHooo. Get this - I left work five minutes early, and that enabled me to get home almost 15 minutes early! Does that make sense? It doesn't seem to, but I guess that extra five minutes allowed me to avoid all the traffic of everyone getting out of work at 5 o'clock. I can't call it 'rush hour traffic', because that term just doesn't sound right to describe anything out here. So, you get the idea. Anyway... this is one of the photos I got last night. Nothing spectacular, but I was just thrilled to be outside, in seventy degree temperatures, enjoying the sunshine and nature.
