Camera-Critters #99

Got Your party hats on?
Got some punch in your glass?
Got some cake on your plate?

Guess who happens to turn THREE years old,

What you are about to see may cause involuntary rushes of emotions,
especially severe cases of the sighs and "Awwwwwws".
Do not proceed if you have a weak heart, because it WILL be stolen.
If you do proceed, do not say you weren't warned of the
severity of the cuteness you are about to experience...

Maggie May
10 wks old
The day we first met her,
a.k.a. the day we became her
forever family & home.
How could we have possibly
turned this cute furball away???
(c) Misty DawnS

She was a chewer from the very start,
but always got away with everything,
because of that irresistible face.
We kept being told she'd grow out of the chewing.
After losing many clothes, shoes, gloves, pens, books, cowboy boots,
a dog bed, a bean bag, an END TABLE, and so much more,
we were wondering if we were going to have any possessions
left by the time she stopped chewing.
I don't think she ever chewed up a pulse oximeter though... go figure.
(c) Misty DawnS

The other two Border Collie rescues (her "big brother" and "big sister")
can't resist her either. She gets away with everything with them too!
And, trust me, she knows it and uses it to her advantage.

Her name is Maggie May.
She turns three today.
Her nickname is Doodles - short for "Puppy-Doodles".
Because she'll always be our puppy.
(Can you tell which girl is which in the photo above?)
It's hard to get over how much Molly and Maggie look alike,
considering they're not blood-related at all.
Everyone thinks they are mother and daughter.

Heads or Tails *Rumor*

Heads Or Tails

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome HoT blog where you can sign up and participate in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is:

Well, there's a new rumor in the blogosphere that Misty Dawn has found yet another way to offer her photography for sale. O.K., I guess it's not really rumor if it's true, huh? Custom mugs, shirts, hoodies, calendars, prints, posters, stickers, note cards, greeting cards, and even skateboards and shoes... yup, if you want any of those items with my photo or photos on the item, you've got it! Tell me what you want, and I'll create it lickity-split!

See more personalized gifts from Zazzle.

Now, some people might spread the rumor that this is another pitiful attempt at self-promotion, but I guess I'll just have to let the rumors spread.

Now, if someone wants to spread the rumor that I get to go on one of those Disney vacations, that's fine. Just as long as that rumor is made to come true!!!

RedBubble Changes, Kudos, & Disappointment

As you know, back in December, I started two photography sites so I could offer my photography for sale as prints and cards and on many different items. Well, one of those sites is with RedBubble. I just recently became aware that RedBubble decided to change some things, and I (and many other people on RedBubble) am not pleased with their decisions.

One thing they did, which was great, is they offered discounts for bulk orders. Kudos for that change, RedBubble. They also made coupons available. This is another great idea. However, the thing they did which I H.A.T.E. is they started adding white borders around the photos on greeting cards, laminated prints, and more. It's terrible. It looks SO unprofessional, and it may cause me to shut down my RedBubble site.

Here's what the greeting cards look like now...

Very unprofessional looking, in my opinion. I could print my own cards and make them look more professional than than, AND I'd keep all the profit!

I haven't made up my mind yet what I'm going to do. Stay with RedBubble or leave and try some place like Zazzle. All I know is I'm frustrated. I was already frustrated with the lack of success on my sites, and then this happens. I realize my sites haven't been around for very long, and I need to be patient. I realize my photography sales sites wouldn't fall under the category of a successful home based business, but I guess I just allowed myself to get my hopes up. I won't give up, I just may need to try different things... just not sure what those different things are yet. LOL If you have suggestions, I'd more than willing to listen!

First, I must make it perfectly clear that I can honestly say I did NOT wake up this morning thinking of the benefits of colon cleanse. Nothing against those of you who DO wake up in the morning thinking of such things; I'm just saying I don't. That's all. Now, seriously...

A couple of posts ago, I wrote about how I haven't seen any Cardinals or Blue Jays at my bird feeders this year. Of course, after writing that post, on the way home from work the next day, I saw about 15 Cardinals. But, that's beside the point. I still haven't seen them at my feeder. Juncos (pictured above) DO visit my feeder though. LOTS of them. I think they're cute.

Were You Worried Bout Me?

Well, I lucked out! The weather didn't get bad before or during my drive home from work (just in case you were worried about me). So, I was able to go grocery shopping, drive home, and unload half the groceries before the snow started flying. Even then though, it wasn't too bad. So, I'm glad I avoided having to drive in more nasty weather, but I'm STILL majorly sick and tired of winter. I realize that it's only February, and we've still got quite a bit of winter left, but the way it has been this year just makes it seem like it has been winter for forever! I just want some weather which allows me to go for walks and take photos again - not taking photo walks for so long is starting to make me majorly depressed! I guess I could do some ellipticals to get some exercise, but it's just not the same! I need the camera around my neck and to be surrounded by nature (without my nose hairs freezing or snow blowing in my face - just sayin').

Winter - Go AWAY Already!

Icy Boundaries

Well, I'm not going to talk about natural weight loss products, I'm going to talk about this winter weather... once again. You see, according to our weather forecast, we are in for some more nasty winter weather. We are supposed to get snow and sleet today (which has me nervous about the drive home). However, I guess it's going to get really nasty Saturday evening/night, and Sunday is supposed to be even worse. Seriously?!?! Where the heck is spring??? I'm sick of this winter stuff... completely sick and tired of it.

Thank you for listening... I just needed to get that out of my system.

It's For the Birds!

(To purchase this photo or view other photos for sale, click on the photo)

I've made a strange discovery this winter. No, I didn't discover the best acne treatment, you silly reader! What I did discover is absolutely NO Cardinals and NO Blue Jays have visited my bird feeders this year. Well, none that I've seen anyway. In fact, the only birds I've seen at my feeder are Juncos, Sparrows, and one rather annoying Red-Bellied Woodpecker. Yes, the Woodpecker is beautiful. The reason I say it is annoying is because after it visits my feeder, it proceeds to come peck on my HOUSE! Seriously. It comes and pecks on my siding, my windows, and even my front door! It literally sits on my step and pecks on the front door! I wonder if it wants a cup of coffee?!?! Anyway, I can't figure out for the life of me where the Cardinals and Blue Jays are!!! In regards to the weather, it has definitely been a strange and unusual winter... a.k.a. the weather has been CRAPPY. I wonder if that's why these species have not been visiting. I've seen a few Cardinals here and there when driving to work, but when I think about it, I haven't seen a single Blue Jay. It's weird, I tell ya!

And, while...

While I try to get a fire going in our woodburner stove, which is absolutely refusing to catch. And, while I try to make hamburgers before my husband gets home, so he will have a warm dinner waiting for him. And, while I could be talking about prenatal vitamins. And, while I try to unwind from a long and stressful day. And, while I'm starting too many sentences with "and", which is a grammatical 'no-no'... I thought I'd share one of my photos with you. This photo is from the ice storm of 2007. It is NOT a black and white photo, although it may look like it is. That was one of the things that amazed me during the ice storm. It was like the world was silent and void of color. It was rather surreal.

If you like this photo, you can click on it, and you will be taken to one of my photography sites, which offers many of my photos for sale.

Thank you for your time... I must go flip my burgers now...

Wow... I need the ride to stop so I can catch my breath! All of a sudden, all three of my jobs have picked up in pace. I'm swamped. I'm doing my best to keep up, but sometimes it gets the best of me. I think I'd like to take a long nap... maybe for about... ummm... two days. ;-) Nah, I couldn't do that, then I wouldn't get anything done for two days. Maybe I need to do another job search so I can work only one job rather than three. What I really wish is that I could completely work from home on a full-time basis. Oh well... maybe some day. We've got to have our goals, right? Besides, I realize that I should be thankful to even have a job with the way things are now! So, just ignore me, I'm just venting... and rambling... I'm rambling while venting. ;-)
Stay tuned...
I'll be back with a better post soon...

Camera-Critters #97

(c) Misty DawnS

I was shocked when I opened my blog this morning. I couldn't believe I haven't posted since last Camera-Critters!!! Life has gotten crazy again... in so many ways. I won't bore or depress you with all the details. Things will get better eventually, they always do.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, so I went to my archives to find photos appropriate for Valentine's Day (or "Singles Appreciation Day" as one of my favorite co-workers calls it). I thought this photo of Maggie May giving her sister a kiss was a sweet and appropriate photo. Happy Valentine's Day *or* Happy Singles Appreciation Day, Everyone ;-)

Camera-Critters #96

(c) Misty DawnS

I sadly admit that I'm using a photo from my archives this week. There are a few reasons why I'm using an old photo. For one, it's cold, windy, and snowy outside. Mother Nature has not been cooperating with me at all this winter. Another reason is I've been going through all my files to decide which ones to upload to my Zenfolio site and my RedBubble site. Also, I must admit that I'm in quite a hurry, because, in a half hour, I'm supposed to help move cattle down the road from one farm to another. It's an interesting experience to try to get 100 cows AND their calves to take a stroll down the road. Last time took most of the cold, windy day, and involved several trips down the road, and there were some hunters thrown in the mix too. Quite the experience... (pray for me).

Heads or Tails *List Three*

Heads Or Tails

If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome HoT blog where you can sign up and participate in this fun and popular meme!

This week's theme is:
TAILS - "Three"
Make any kind of post listing 3 things from any category you choose.

(c) Misty DawnS

Three things. Humph. Well, I've got three Border Collies, as you know. So, my three favorite Border Collies in the whole wide world are (from left to right): Maggie May, Tag, and Molly-Collie. Speaking of "THREE", guess who's gonna be three years old this month?!?! Maggie May!!! I remember the big "Doggy-Bloggy-Birthday-Bash" we had for her when she turned ONE (there was spiked punch and dancing on the tables if I remember correctly)!!! My PUPPY is gonna be THREE!!! I guess I should probably quit calling her a 'puppy', huh? I know I should, but I just can't. She's still my puppy. She'll be 30 and still be my puppy. Oh yes, she'll be 30, and Tag will be 36, and my heart and soul Molly-Collie will be 37... YES they will. Me and God have discussed this and came to an agreement. I'm just sayin'.

Hmmmmm... should we have a THIRD bloggy-birthday party for Maggie-May? I'm sure y'all are tired of the parties, but Maggie wanted me to ask. She says a girl can never have too many parties in her honor. That's what she says.

Wants, Needs, & Wishlists

Well, the winter holidays are now behind us, which means the prices on items are hopefully decreasing too. Hubs and I don't exchange gifts for Christmas, birthdays, anniversary, etc. We do however, support each other when something comes up during the year which we need, can really use, or, I'll admit it, really, really want. ;-) I then start comparing prices and trying to find ways to save money on the item, such as coupons and special promotions.

For awhile now, Hubs has had his eye on a new television. Our television's speakers are going bad, and the color gets funky on us sometimes too. Besides, a flat panel tv would save a lot of space, and one thing Hubs and I don't have much of in our house is space! So, I've had my eye out for any coupons at Best Buy which would get us a quality flat screen at a good price.

Keep it between us, but I also keep my eye on Newegg coupons. I think it is time to upgrade my laptop, especially since I use it so much that the keys keep popping off of it! That's VERY annoying when you work two jobs from home that require a LOT of typing! I've also been dreaming about a really good photo printer (I've got an Epson in my dreams). I want to be able to do my own prints from home and not have to pay an outside printer.

Hmmm... then there's that macro lens........

The First Time Is Always Special

I was absent from the blogosphere most of last week. That's because I was unlucky enough to get the flu. NOT fun!!! I was even sick the whole weekend. NOT fun and NOT fair!

I'm slowly getting back to my normal self though, and I've got lots of things planned for y'all: some reviews, some giveaways, and an announcement. O.K., I can see you getting down on your knees and pleading with me to not make you wait on all these things. So, I'll go ahead and give you the announcement now...

See the picture of that greeting card up there? Well, that greeting card marks my very first sale!!! Yep, I made a sale on my RedBubble site! I won't lie... my profit was only a little over a dollar, but, hey, this is the first of many sales... right? Besides, if I were to create the greeting card myself, I would have had to pay for the paper and ink and the shipping, and I doubt I would have made over a dollar's profit. Thanks to RedBubble, I didn't have to worry about any of that. I just received an e-mail informing me that I made my very first sale! One dollar or a hundred dollars, I'm still excited. O.K., the hundred would be nice, but you get my point ;-)
