Camera-Critters #123
I have a confession to make. There's something you may not know about me. It may come as a big shock to you, but trust me, I'm still the same person you've come to love (you do love me, dontcha?). O.K., I'll get right to it. You see...
I have an obsession with bugs.
Why aren't you acting surprised? What? You knew all along? What gave it away?
Well, I have a particular obsession this time of year with a particular bug called the Robber Fly. Most people look at the Robber Fly and think it is freaky looking... or scary... or ugly. Man, it was hard for me to type "ugly" and "Robber Fly" in the same sentence!
Me... I think they are awesome and SO COOL! Just look!

How could you possibly resist those eyes?
"WHOA! Who you callin' ugly???"

You do have an obsession with bugs! Someone has to. I guess its like my moose obsession. haha
This is a truly fine specimen. Your photographic skills are amazing.
How can someone not love the intricate details of this bugs antatomy?
I love how technology has improved and become so accessible to the 'general public' that we can have out own microscopes to peer into nature in ways the naked eye never could.
I am amazed at what we can see thru a camera lens and how much we can learn.
It is truly addicting!
bug voyeur!! made me laugh
I love bugs too, their shapes and sizes and all their oddities
these are fantastic shots
I love his eyes
Wow Misty!
Excellent macros and those eyes are so green. Wonderful detailed shots!
That is pretty neat lookin!
You got obsession to bugs too? hehehe, those are great shots. I like the details.
My 1st time to join Camera critters. Have a great weekend!
Confession: I am the type that puts a fly swatter next to my bed every night, just in case.
This fly of yours has a tail like a scorpion's. Do they bite?
Wonderful macro-shots, Misty!
Well, Misty, I am not nearly as smitten with the robber fly as you are. I will admit your photographs are spectacular, indeed, but they eyes do not woo me. Give me the limpid eyes of a puppy any day!!
At 65, I've done it! My poetry book - Life's Journey by Carmen Henesy - is out on Amazon!
( Poems about the things that have been important to me in my journey through life, some humorous, some sad, some that may have meaning to you as well )

Great shots of the robber fly. I've been following them around lately- they hunt their prey in the air, grab them, and then land somewhere to devour them.
Those are ugly! The bugs, that is. The photographs are awesome! Also a but enthusiast, I know how hard it is to get a good shot. You have done very well indeed! This almost looks like kin to a dragonfly. While I have no bug, here is my entry.
I agree: that is one cool critter! Love the eyes and the bent body...
Great photos of the Robber Fly. I have oddly gray ones out here 8v)
Robbery Fly, its something new to me... never heard of them before.... thanks for sharing and your photo's are awesome, love the perspective in the last one....

What a unique and pretty creature you have here. You got great shots of it. It wouldn't be as pretty if not for your clear pictures.
Oh Misty, Awesome! I haven't seen many of these guys, and never looked this closely, they are scary looking, lol. You made him look beautitful!
These are magnificent macros and I have to agree that your photographic skills make him look beautiful :)
It's alright to be obsessed with bugs. It simply means that you have great attention for details, just like Gil Grissom of CSI. =)
Btw, great photos!
