It's a Flower, It's a Weed, It's a Pinkweed Flower

This is one of my favorite wildflowers. O.K. fine, maybe I do say that with every wildflower photo I post... I just... I was just trying to see if you were paying attention... yeah, that's what I was doing.

Anyway, this is called Pinkweed or, if you like to throw around big, complicated, technical names, then it's Polygonum pensylvanicum. Yeah, say that three times fast. I'll stick with Pinkweed.

These flowers always intrigue me, because they are rather intricate with their petals of random pink and white. None of the flowers are the same. It reminds me of bar codes on packages and how they seem so random, yet they make perfect sense to a cordless barcode scanner. I'm sure each of these flowers makes perfect sense to nature. :-) Me, I just enjoy the splashes of color they provide in the tall grasses. Oh, and they make great macro photography subjects too. Have I ever mentioned I like macro photography?

No, Misty, you've never mentioned wildflowers or macro photography before, but I'm glad you did now. It explains so much. LOL
I think this pinkweed-polygonum-pensylvanicum is gorgeous. I think it would be beautiful in a bridal bouquet, but many wildflowers don't live long after being picked. Have you tried picking it for a vase? Does it have a perfume, or an offensive odor?
Anyway, it is lovely.

Ashrunner like macro photography? Coulda fooled me 8v)

Do the Pinkweed bloom out or do they just look like they don in the photo?

That's such a pretty flower Misty. Fabulous macro shots.

Yes I'm paying attention but you are write anyway; they are all favorites because they are all very pretty.
I don't remember seeing this lovely pink flower by us.
These are all beautiful photos, nice bokeh!

I'm glad you made it to Macro Flowers Saturday to share this beauty.

I thought these looked familiar, so I looked them up in my book. They are closely related to the lady's thumbs that we have growing here. I had never really thought about it, but they are pretty...
Thanks for opening my eyes! Now I have to go find some lady's thumbs...

Great shots!!

I find myself saying favorite flower a lot too, maybe we just like them all. :) They are pretty!
