Why Did the Turkey Cross the Fence? ~ Camera-Critters #160

Why did the turkey cross the fence? To get away from that pesky photographer, of course!

Last weekend, on Saturday morning, we moved cattle from one pasture to another. Hubs went down the road to get some gates closed and a few other things ready for the move. He was to call me when he was ready for me to come help. He called and I headed down the road. However, I saw this female turkey decide to cross the road and start to go through the fence. I was torn... I needed to keep going to help move cattle... BUT, there was this wildlife critter in front of me, and I just so happened to have my camera on the seat next to me (I know you're shocked). I finally decided a couple pictures wouldn't hold things up for two long. ;-)

This turkey may call attorney tucson ... or is it attorney turkey... to file a suit against me for not getting a model release. ;-)

Floral Carpet

(c) Misty DawnS

This is another photo I took when I went to my in-laws' for Easter dinner. I had photographed my aunt-in-law's Bluebells, and, as I was walking over to my mother and father-in-law's house, I passed these beautiful little flowers my mother-in-law has growing in a small flower bed next to the fence.

I do not know what kind of flowers these are. I'll have to remember to ask my mother-in-law when I talk to her.

Around home, I've been photographing our fruit tree blossoms quite a bit, as the wildflowers aren't up yet. Soon the fruit trees will be, hopefully, producing fruit! In the meantime, take advantage of this Cherry Moon Farms free shipping code, which is just in time for Mother's Day orders.

Where flowers bloom so does hope. - Lady Bird Johnson

We had Easter dinner planned for Saturday at my in-laws, and my aunt-in-law sent me an e-mail asking if I would have time prior to dinner to come over (she lives next door to my mother and father-in-law) and photograph her Bluebells. Heck yeah! You seriously think I'd turn that down?

That morning, we were moving cattle from one pasture to another. Hubs called me to tell me he was ready for me to come help, and on my way, I saw a female turkey crossing the road, so I just had to stop and get a couple photographs. Why did the turkey cross the road? To have her portrait taken, of course!

While waiting for Hubs to bring the cows out of the pasture, I photographed a fox squirrel. I told the squirrel that it could help us move cattle, but it turned around and told me to "talk to the tail, Lady."

After moving cattle, I photographed the butterfly in the previous post. I also got some water drop photos, one of which is in the post prior to the butterfly. Then, prior to Easter dinner, I photographed the Bluebells.

Saturday turned out to be a pretty good day :-)

Hidden Jewels

When you truly admire and respect someone and their talent, it is only proper to not only acknowledge it, but to also share it with others whom you respect and admire.

My friend Roni is an inspiration behind this image. She creates amazing and beautiful macro abstracts which never fail to take my breath away. Sometimes, when I visit her Flickr stream or her blog, I find myself lost in a daydream while staring at her images. She has amazing talent, and she is as beautiful (inside and out) as the images she produces. She inspires me to look closer at the beauty around me and to attempt to capture it to share.

I will forever appreciate Roni for her fabulous talent and her generous, caring, loving spirit.

Last weekend, while back at my pond fishing, I watched two very busy muskrats. At first, I only saw one, which continued to swim back and forth. Then, another one joined it, and they swam back and forth together. Is anyone else thinking "Muskrat Love"? So, they both got to the bank near me, and one of the muskrats (the one I decided was Susie, the female - you'll see why), started yipping (kinda like a puppy yip). She just kept it up, and wherever the other muskrat (Sam) would swim, Susie would follow, yipping at him the whole.dang.time (Do you see why I decided that one was the female? hehe). All of a sudden, like they had just been hit with electronic muscle stimulation, they got into a little wrestling match (honest, that's what happened - this is a G rated blog, y'all), and the one I decided was Sam took off across the pond and left his yipping Susie at the other end. Geesh - love em and leave em, I guess!

(For those of you who don't know... in the song "Muskrat Love", it's Muskrat Susie and Muskrat Sam)

Peach in Pink

Peach in Pink, originally uploaded by Misty DawnS.

If you are someone who watches my attempted-to-be-daily posts on Flickr, you will have noticed that I seem a bit obsessed with my blooming peach trees lately. To be honest... I am. LOL These blooms are the first signs of spring around here, and they are in a good spot to catch the sunlight when I'm outside with the camera.
Therefore... to put it simply... I photograph them.
Also, so far, I've seen two bees, a Ladybug (they're good luck!), and a moth visiting these trees. All the more reason for me to be obsessed with them!
Besides, don't you think a toned-down, more transparent version of this would make a great background for spring cards?
Just a thought.

Damsel in Distress

Picture it... the first damselfly of the year is spotted... Like Peter Lik, I ignore the dangers before me... I race to the spot... I set up... I prepare... I lean out over the water with my extremely expensive equipment and no neck strap... and to beat all the odds against me... I get the shot! Pretty awesome, huh? Cept, it wasn't dangerous, cuz I was just fishing at my pond. And, there really wasn't any setting up to do, cuz all my shots are hand-held. And, ummmm, while I DID lean over the water, my equipment cost about 1/1000 of what Peter's (yeah, we're on a first name basis... go ahead, be jealous) does and I ALWAYS use my neckstrap, because I'm extremely overprotective of my baby, ummm I mean camera. And, well, I got a shot, but it is pretty lousy, but that's OK because it IS the first damselfly of the year for me, and I WAS leaning out over the water to get the photo. Besides... notice the spider web... this was almost a photo of a "damsel in distress" bwahahahahahaha I crack myself up!

Beauty on a Stick ~ Camera Critters #157

Beauty on a Stick

(c) Misty DawnS

I thought I had seen a Kestrel sitting in the tree outside my bedroom window a couple times. I told my buddy (*waving* Hi Bear) what I thought it was and that I was going to get a photo. It just proves that setting a goal makes things happen, because a few days later, I got this photograph. I know that American Kestrels may be common, but this was the first one I had seen, let alone photographed. So, even if it's not a great photo, it has a lot of meaning for me.
