I don't know my hummingbird I.D.s yet, and I need to practice taking photos of them too.  We have a Ruby Throated, this one (green back, white belly), and a brown one.  I'll keep practicing with the photos in an attempt to get better.

Watching with WatchBot

It was brought to my attention that the rafflecopter wasn't working previously.
The problem should be resolved now.  Please enter the giveaway, and GOOD LUCK!!!

If you follow my blog, you know that I have been away for a bit to enjoy being a new mommy... something I didn't think would ever happen for me.  This is a blessing I have no words to describe, and I now know what it's like to feel a love so strong it is completely consuming.

It is also a constant learning experience.  Thank goodness for the advice of other moms, great websites, and product reviews!!!  Speaking of product reviews... what a better way to get back into the swing of blogging, while taking my blog in some new directions, than to share with you a product, not just for moms, but for anyone in general who wants peace of mind.

Disclaimer - I was provided one WatchBot camera in exchange for a product review post.  All opinions and experiences in this post are my honest opinions and experiences

The WatchBot is a wireless camera which gives you the ability to remotely monitor your home, child, pets, or business.  This device can serve multiple purposes to suit your specific needs.  I, of course, was interested in utilizing it as a baby monitor.  So, when I got the opportunity to receive a WatchBot camera in exchange for a review, I jumped on it... as fast as a sleep-deprived, new mommy can jump.

When I received the package, the techie-geek in me was "oohing" and "ahhing" over how cool this gadget looked.  But, I can hear you saying "Yeah, it looks cool. That's great.  How does it function, Misty???"  O.K., O.K., I'm getting to that... give me a moment to show you how cool it looks though!

Thank you for that brief moment.  :-)  Now we'll get to the nitty gritty...

I had quite a bit of trouble getting the camera initially hooked up to my wi-fi.  In WatchBot's defense, I honestly believe it was an issue with my password-protected router, which often disconnects from our wireless peripherals.  Basically, it wouldn't allow me to do anything, because it kept telling me I needed "admin rights".  After continued frustrated attempts, resets, and unplugging and re-plugging, I had resigned myself to the belief that this just wasn't going to work with my set-up.  So I did the "step away for a bit" method.  I had left the camera plugged into my router, while I took the time to research and read sites which talked about troubleshooting.  Then, a few days later, when I pulled up the software on my computer - it had connected and was working!!!  Seriously!  I would LOVE to tell y'all that I pulled out my techie super-knowledge and got that thing up and running, but I cannot tell a lie... It basically just fixed itself.  That's the only explanation I have for it, unless my baby is a genius and fixed it while I wasn't looking.  So, as far as the initial hook-up, I'm really not sure I can help you there, except to say the physical hook up is easy - plug it in to an outlet, hook one end of the Ethernet cable to your WatchBot camera and the other end into a spare port on your wireless router.  Then, run the software, which you installed via the website or the CD.  In a perfect world, it finds your wi-fi and connects.

After the WatchBot is acknowledging and set up for your wi-fi connection, you can unplug the Ethernet cable and place the camera wherever you want it.  Then, the magic happens.  With apps installed on your peripherals and phones, and software installed on your computer, you are able to remotely monitor what is important to you.  Yes, this means that I am able to view my baby from another room, but it also means that I can view my baby while I'm at work!!!  I'm sure you can see where this would be an asset for a parent who is often on the road or someone who is on vacation and wants to keep an eye on the house.

You can not only watch things remotely, you can also control the WatchBot camera remotely!  You can pan, tilt, zoom... all from your phone or peripheral device.  The WatchBot is also equipped with audio capabilities, so you can hear, and even talk back to, your baby or pets.  Talk about making your baby think you really can see everything even when you're not there!

You're probably thinking, "But, Misty, I don't have time to sit and stare at the camera all day and night while I'm on vacation!"  I understand!  Just use the motion sensor function.  You receive e-mail alerts when motion is detected in the area being watched by the camera.  And, with night vision, your viewing time is not limited.  You can even record video and images from the camera (with the optional microSD slot).

Another great thing is you can hook up more than one camera (sold separately, of course), so you can view multiple rooms.  That's convenient so you don't have to keep moving one camera from place to place.

With the night vision and audio capabilities, the WatchBot provides me with a great monitoring system.  I am able to hear and view my baby at night to determine if I need to go to her or let her sooth herself back to sleep.

There are many uses for the WatchBot, all providing security and peace of mind.  To find out more, check out their website.

OH... and did I mention they are holding a competition?  The prize is... (drumroll please...)
FOUR... yes, FOUR WatchBot cameras and one free mobile app!

You can use the below form to enter (You can thank me... I mean the WatchBot folks, later!)
