Wordless Wednesday... Almost

(c) Misty DawnS

Will I ever get caught up? I'm beginning to think the answer to that is 'no'. I have OVER 500 unread posts in my reader! Then, when I participate in a meme, I visit all those participants! Now, I start my new full-time job today, in addition to coming home to do my Virtual Assistant work! Will I ever get caught up? I'm beginning to think not. I do promise to be better at visiting everyone's blogs... I just need to have a little while to figure out a routine and schedule... I'm a routine-kinda gal. So, right now, I'm feeling kind of overwhelmed.

Did I mention that my throat feels as if I have swallowed razor blades? I just keep thinking, "No, no, NO! I can NOT get sick right now."

I'll be back this evening, and I'll start trying to get that routine figured out... Don't give up on me, Friends!

Camera-Critters Sunday #3

My sweet and beautiful girls own my heart.
They know it too, and are not afraid to take advantage of it.
(c) Misty DawnS

Molly always gets bored when I've got my camera, but Maggie (the puppy) eagerly waits for me to end the photo session so she can go running and exploring (and chewing on stuff).
(c) Misty DawnS

Molly (right) is always happier when Tag isn't around. Heck, most people and animals are happier when Tag isn't around *snicker*.
(c) Misty DawnS

I just realized something... all three of these photos were taken on different days. However, in each photo, Maggie is on the left, and Molly is on the right. They must be creatures of habit like their Mommy ;-)

* * * I edited this post to add a picture of Tag. I have three Border Collies - Tag (the male), Molly (the adult female), and Maggie (the female puppy). The pics above are of my girls, Maggie and Molly. Tag was working with Dad (Hubs) - that's why Molly was so happy (Tag is not her favorite).
This is Tag - he's not a sociable dog... only likes his dad... and sometimes me

Enjoy Your Day the Puppy Way

Always make sure you have a great friend nearby to share your day with. Great friends make the day much more enjoyable.(c) Misty DawnS

Hold your head high and carry a big stick. What'd'ya mean someone else said that quote?
(c) Misty DawnS

You can still be cute and beautiful even with something green hanging out of your mouth.
(c) Misty DawnS

Let the wind blow through your hair. Do everything with gusto. And, always, always, run to your mommy at full speed, with a giant smile. (It helps keep you out of trouble when you slam into her at said full speed.)
(c) Misty DawnS

If that cute little puppy that keeps staring up at you from inside the water doesn't want to play...
(c) Misty DawnS

then go in search of your best friend, because no matter what, you can always count on her. (Except, she doesn't share well when it comes to food, but oh well, no one is perfect.)

How They Keep Me Sane

Many people laugh at the title of this blog. They ask how I can possibly claim that three Border Collies, whom often give me a run for my money with their intelligence and obsessive behaviors, keep me sane.

Well, I've already gone through the explanations of how they love me unconditionally, are always happy to see me no matter how I look or what mood I'm in, listen intently and give me their undivided attention no matter what I'm talking about, and, did I mention the unconditional love?

So, amongst all the stresses of life, such as trying to earn a better income, trying to build (and afford) a house addition, listening to your husband lose patience as he tries to install bathroom faucets without leaks, having no vehicle because it is being repaired due to an up-close and personal meeting with a deer, and did I mention the finances... well, amongst all those things, when I feel like just going somewhere to hide from life for awhile, it's these faces which make me smile and make me realize how much I have to be thankful for...

(c) Misty DawnS

Not to mention that each day they give me a lesson in what it means to be loved and the importance of sharing the love I have for others.
(c) Misty DawnS

Now, you see why no matter how my day is going, I'm always given a reason to smile.

Wordless Wednesday

(c) Misty DawnS

That face! She just makes you want to throw that ball for her, doesn't she? She knows that she melts my heart, and she uses it to her advantage. If I'm not paying attention or doing exactly what Molly thinks I should be doing, she will come sit in front of me, put her paw on my leg or arm, and just stare at me with those beautiful chocolate eyes. If I ask her if she loves Mommy, that always gets me a kiss. I never taught her that trick - it's just something she has always done - I ask "You love Mommy?", and she has always responded by giving me a kiss. She completely owns my heart!

From Molly

Hi everyone! It's me - Molly. I just needed to vent about something, and since Mommy comes on here to vent to you guys all the time, I thought I would too! You see, it's that darn puppy! Oh yeah, I know you all think she's the cutest thing evahhhhh, but let me tell you - she's evil! She's spoiled rotten, and because she's so darn cute, she gets away with everything. Seriously! You wouldn't believe the things she gets away with! Tag and I always get told that we are older and we know better. Blah - Blah - Blahhhh - that's what I say. Let me just give you some examples...

Mommy and I went for a walk the other day. It was cold, but I didn't care, because I had Mommy all to myself, and I brought my ball along on the walk. I ALWAYS follow the b.y.o.b. rule - You know, bring.your.own.ball. Yep, I'm good about that. So, anyway, Mommy and I got back from our walk and you know what happened? That darn puppy immediately stole my ball! Yep! Can you imagine? AND, she got away with it! Didn't even get in trouble!

She's a chewer too - chews on everything! Everything! She even chewed a 2x2 right in half the other day! Why the heck would any dog in her right mind want to chew a board in half? She's not right in the head, I tell ya.

Ahhh, but I think she is going to be in some serious trouble now - Oh yes, she's going to get what's coming to her! LOOK what she did last night while Mommy and Daddy were sleeping!!!
Those are Mommy's sweatpants! Oh that puppy is going to be in so much trouble!!! AND - look at this...
That is the end table leg! She did that to the furniture! I told you she was evil! Mommy's daddy (whom I really like cuz he always brings me treats and stuff) had the nerve to say that puppy-teeth marks just add character to the furniture, so she shouldn't get in trouble! Can you believe that crap???

I swear, if she gets away with this just because she is so cute, I'm going to pack up my toys and move somewhere where I can be an only dog! This is ridiculous!

Wordless Wednesday

(c) Misty DawnS

Well, it can't be completely wordless when my beauty is posing for the camera! My Molly is my heart and soul. She is the oldest of the three, and the puppy immediately bonded with her. Everywhere Molly goes, the puppy is sure to follow. If you sit back and watch, especially when Maggie was younger, she would always be looking to Molly to learn from and follower her actions. The really ironic thing is the puppy's facial and head markings are so similar to Molly that everyone assumes that Maggie is Molly's pup. Nope - all three of my dogs are rescues.

Dear Santy...

I'm writing to u about my Mommy. She's been a very good Mommy ALL year. She plays with us and gives us food and treats and lots of hugs and scratches and kisses. My Mommy wants a laptop, Santy. She's been sad becuz her other laptop gets reel hot and turns itself off. I just don't think it's fare of that thing to be so nasty to my Mommy! So, Santy, could u pleaz bring my Mommy a laptop for Christmus? Cuz, when Mommy is sad... we're all sad...
My Mommy uses the money she makes with her laptop to buy us food and treats and balls to play with. I tried to earn money for Mommy's laptop by doing some modeling, but I never got paid for it!
They said the check was lost in the mail, but I don't believe them, cuz me and Tag and Maggie looked everywhere for that check...
So, Santy, we'd really appreeshiate it if u could bring our Mommy a laptop so she will be happy again and can keep on bloggin'!
Love,
Mommy's Favorite Lap'Pups'
P.S. Tag says he's is very sorry for scaring all those hoomans who come to our house. He just can't help hisself. Maggie blames all of her rottenness on being a puppy. I, Molly (the pretty one in the above photo), well, I've been good all year. So, if you want to put a ball next to Mommy's laptop under the tree, we'll know who it's for... just sayin'.

Give Me Five Monday *Birthdays*

My friend Becca started a new Monday meme called Give Me Five Monday. The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, she will put out a random topic from her list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back to her! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified. Go over to BeccA's Buzz and check it out!

This week's topic is Birthdays. You are supposed to list five things that you do or don't like about your birthday. My birthday is June 26, but Becca's birthday is TODAY!!! So I'm sending out a HUGE birthday wish to Becca. I hope you have the most fabulous day ever Becca!

5 Things I Like/Dislike About My Birthday
1. Hay Season - Dislike
My birthday falls right in the middle of Ohio farmers' hay season. My husband and I would hardly have time or energy to speak to each other, let alone enjoy my birthday together. Hay season is supposed to be much less hectic here in the new state though - at least that is what they are telling me ;-)
2. Molly-Collie - LOVE
For my birthday in 2004, my aunt gave me money for Molly's adoption fee. My great uncle also gave me money towards getting Molly a crate. This photo was taken the day she came to live with us (apparently her adjustment period to get used to us didn't take as long as I expected hehe)
3. Cards
You know me, I love words, sayings, quotes, jokes, poetry... you name it! So, I love the cards I receive for my birthday. It also means so much because you know that person picked that card out specifically for you.
4. Cake!!!
Well... DUH! And I want CHOCOLATE!
5. Corn on the Cob
I LOVE corn, and my absolute favorite is corn on the cob (Oh, I'm drooling just thinking about it!) It was tradition that my great uncle would always bring me a watermelon and some corn on the cob for my birthday (he was a produce farmer).

Happy Birthday Becca! I hope it's Fabulous!
For Becca...

Wordless Wednesday

(Christmas morning, 2004)
(c) Misty Dawn
This was both Molly and Tag's first Christmas with us.
At first, they wondered what the heck their silly mommy was doing now with all this stuff wrapped in paper which she kept trying to get them to rip off. They were quite wary at first because they had already been told to stay away from the tree a hundred times leading up to that morning. After they got all of their presents though, they decided this Christmas thing was pretty cool.
** I realize that this is "Wordless Wednesday", but I had to add "3-5 sentences" to it so it would be acceptable for the next post. At least when I originally posted it, it was wordless ;-)

Today's Walk

I went for a walk this afternoon. After about five minutes of walking, I saw this...

I continued on my walk to my favorite spot, where I sat on the ground up against a tree. I just listen and enjoy nature, and hope that I will blend in with my surroundings and eventually get a good shot of some critter. After a while...

Two of these little critters showed up. They were playing and running and jumping from tree to tree having a grand ol' time. I had trouble getting any good shots of them, because they were like squirrels on speed.
When I was returning from the walk, just walking along meditating, I heard a whistle. But, it wasn't a bird whistle. I looked around, and this is what I saw.
They were so very happy to see me. They were going on a walk with my husband, and couldn't believe that they actually found Mommy out there! It was a very exciting time ;-)

It's Raining - Thanks Anyway

Free ClipartWell, I sincerely appreciate the images that y'all gave me of the anti-raindances you performed for me. But, it seems that I am jinxed. Mother-Nature and God have decided that Misty should not have basement walls. I guess they figure it would take away all the entertainment of listening to the critters rummage through my stuff or trying to keep my Molly-Collie from self-feeding a whole half-a-bag of dog food. I swear I am going to have to put her on a diet for months now!

As I'm sure you are waiting for me to admit - my Cleveland Indians lost last night. That's OK though, because, as I naggedrepeatedly told my husband "They just had to get that crappy game out of their systems, and now they are ready to play some real baseball" (I hope I hope). Last night was pretty sad - I have no problem admitting that.

Well, the game starts in about five minutes - so - you know where to find me. Time to get myself something to snack on and set the computer next to me so my friend Bear can make sure that I keep breathing and don't seriously hurt myself.

Talk to you soon!

Hi From Maggie May

Hi Everyone! My name is Maggie May, but I guess you already know that. My Mommy has probably bragged a lot about me, since I'm so cute and sweet. If she has ever told you anything about me getting in trouble or being what she calls 'rotten', well, she's crazy. She gets that way sometimes.

Anyway, Mommy is busy eating something she calls a Whopper. Gosh, she gets so excited about those things. She never even shares any Whopper parts with us! No fair! So, while Mommy is busy, I'm going to show you some of my favorite photos that Mommy took yesterday. Of course, they aren't going to be as pretty or as cute as this photo of me, but they're OK photos anyway.

This is a flower called Aster. At least that's what one of Mommy's Flickr friends told her. Mommy LOVES this flower because it is purple. Mommy LOVES purple A LOT. She loves purple so much that as soon as I moved in, she went and bought me a purple collar right away. It's really purty. Then, her BFF that she calls her Partner-in-crime, went and got me a purple leash to match! I'm not spoiled, I deserve all of the attention and love that I get! Besides, have you looked at Mommy's photo on her blog banner and seen how very cute I was when I joined the family? Of course I deserved some extra special attention - how could they resist?

This is a little miniature horse that Mommy saw during her drive. They didn't even take me or Molly or Tag with them! I'm not jealous that Mommy was petting this little horsee on the nose, because I'm very comfortable with the fact that I'm absolutely adorable and Mommy could never choose anything over me. If I would have been there, I would have told this horsee that that fence stuff hurts when you rub on it. Silly horsee, I bet he was sorry!

Whoa - look at this guy! Look at them horns! I would love to run circles around that cow and tell it which way it should go. I'm really interested in learning to herd or do agility. Mommy is going to teach me that stuff eventually. In the meantime, just look at those horns!!!

Another very purty flower shot. Mommy likes to take photos of purty flowers.

Well, that's all for now. Mommy is going to finish her Whopper and then she's going to flip out if she sees me using her precious laptop. Gosh, she almost loves this laptop as much as us. Nah, she could never love anything as much as us ;-)

Bye everyone! It was great barking at you. Oh, and if you noticed, yes, I am very good at spelling and stuff, cuz Molly taught me. Molly teaches me everything - she's real smart!
Love, Maggie

Heads Or Tails *Pet(s) or Pet Peeves*

One of my favorite bloggers, Skittles has started a Tuesday meme. It is LOTS of fun-so you'll wanna join us right away! If you click on the Heads or Tails logo - it will take you to the post to tell you more about the meme.

This week's topic is Heads-Pet(s) or Tails-Pet Peeves. Yeah... right... like I would pass up an opportunity to go on and on about my pets (like I don't do that enough already).

SO - pets it is... of course! ;-)

Well, you all know that I have my dogs... the trio of Border Collies... the ones that my blog is named after, cuz, well, they keep me sane. They love me unconditionally; no matter what I say to them, it is the most brilliant thing they have ever heard; and I always look absolutely gorgeous in their eyes, no matter if I'm dressed up to go out or if I'm wearing a baggy t-shirt and sweats; Oh, and even if they saw me five minutes ago, well they run to me like they haven't seen me for years.

We have Tag:
Next to Daddy, the skid loader, and any other piece of equipment which has wheels... Well, Tag really does love me... he just doesn't want to ruin his reputation. And, trust me... he has quite the reputation. He's the one known as "that dog", and it isn't said in a friendly tone. He scares the living sh*t out of everyone. I rescued Tag from the local Animal Protective League. I don't think that he has or ever will forget his 'old not-so-good' life, and therefore, he is rather... ok, VERY protective of what he has now.

Then we have Molly.... a.k.a. Molly-Collie... a.k.a. Mo-Co... a.k.a. Mo (She'll pretty much answer to anything, especially if you have a ball in your hand)
She is my heart & soul... the love of my life (besides the husband, of course. OK, sometimes more than the husband, but she and I keep that as our secret). I rescued Molly in July of 2004. Tag had been rescued in May of 2004, and Tag made the choice that he was Daddy's dog through and through. Well, I pouted, stomped my feet, through a temper tantrum, whined, and complained. So, as a birthday present, my aunt paid towards the adoption fee for Molly. My aunt has already called my husband and told him that she was calling to apologize. When my husband asked her why, she replied "Because when something happens to that dog, your wife is going to be an absolute mess, and I'm the one who helped her get that dog, so I'm apologizing now." Yes, anyone who sees Molly and me together knows instantly that we can't live without each other. I love her more than words can express, and I truly feel that loved returned to me by her everyday.

And then... we have the puppy. Oh yes, the evil, rotten, spoiled, crazy, if-she-weren't-so-damn-cute-she-wouldn't-get-away-with-nearly-as-much puppy... Maggie May.
This is what she looked like when we couldn't resist the cute little ball of fur... little did we know... that it would turn into this...
A little gangly monster, who seems as if she will never grow into her giant ears. A little monster who must chew on everything from sticks to dirt, plastic bottles to paper towels, and the occasional cicada and baby snapping turtle thrown in for good measure. Ah yes, she is truly a puppy though and through. On a side note, Maggie a.k.a. Doodles (short for Puppy-Doodles) was also a rescue. A lady purchased her at 6 weeks, and by week 10, she couldn't handle the puppy anymore because when her 2 year old pulled on the puppy's tail or fur, well, the puppy turned around and pulled back. Ahhhh, never-mind, I'm not even going to start, because then this will truly be a Heads AND Tails post because we will start on one of my pet peeves. Anyway, I just found out that this same lady, just last week, went and picked up a new puppy... a Burmese Mountain Dog! Ahahahaha, so, I'm just waiting to see when I add a Burmie to my pack ;-)

Now, I was going to add the other dogs that I have had and loved, but I changed my mind, as I get really sad, and I don't want to do that.

So, on to the other pets.

We have Mokey and her kittens.
Mokey is... ummmm.... well... how do I say this nicely? Ok, Mokey is a tramp! The cat was born to reproduce. She had new 'friends' after we moved before I even had my address memorized. Oh well, I love her. She is the only cat that my husband has ever shown a true fondness for (she's lucky for that).

This is my favorite of her kittens... I call it Mini-Moke... hehe, cuz it looks just like its mama
And, we have The Gray Kitty (cuz I can't come up with a better name LOL)
And, last, but not least, we have Skitty (This kitten is named after a couple of different beings... it's named after Skittish, who was my partner-in-crime's favorite buddy from Mokey's last litter. Skittish was black too. And, it is named after Skittles, my newfound friend, blogging and otherwise. And, I like "Skitty" cuz it's got 'kitty' in it... hehehehe, clever, I know)

And there you have it! My pets. Just be glad that I didn't post all of my previous pets, or any of the 'special' sheep or calves ;-) And be VERY glad I didn't post about my pet peeves (that would be one heck of a ranting post!)

Who Says Dogs Can't Talk???

My Molly-Collie is very vocal. I love when she starts 'talking' to me to get my attention. However, there have been a few times that she has REALLY got my attention with her 'talking'. This is because she seems to be answering with the proper human words! I know, you are all sitting there shaking your head and thinking "Here's Misty trying to prove how smart her dogs are again." So, I'll give you some examples, and you can come to your own conclusions.

One day, I was sitting at one of our desktop computers, and my husband was at the other computer. Molly came into the room and sat down next to my husband. She reached up and put her paw on his lap to get his attention. My husband looked down at her and said "May I help you?" Molly proceeded to take her paw away, lay down on the floor, heave a big sigh and respond "Nnnnno"

Another occasion:
I had come home from work and had a few things that I needed to get done before I took Molly out to play ball (her whole life revolves around playing ball). She excitedly greeted me at the door, wanting to go out and play. I said "No, Molly, Mommy has to get some things done first." A little while later, I was at the computer, and Molly came up to me again to try to convince me that I really should be playing ball. I said "No, Molly, I told you I had to do some things first. You have to wait." A little while later, I walked into the bathroom to put some things away. Molly came running into the bathroom and was doing everything she could to get my attention. I was starting to lose patience, so I exclaimed "Molly! What did I say???" At that point, Molly throws herself down on the floor and with this most pouty 'voice' replies "Nooooooo" Of course, I couldn't resist, and I took her out to play ball ;-)

Just the other day, the dogs were outside enjoying the nice weather. My husband was coming inside, so he let Molly come in to see me. I was doing coding work at the computer, so I said Hi to Molly and told her that Mommy was working. My husband came in the office and saw that I was working, so he looked at Molly and said "Mommy is working. So, you are going to have to lie down and be a good girl." Molly proceeded to lie down, as she looked at my husband and made a sound that sounded exactly like "I Knnnnnowwwwww" My husband and I both burst out laughing and my husband said "Yeah well, I know too!"

She made this same "I knowwwwww" sound again about two days later when I was outside petting the dogs. I informed them that they were very spoiled rotten babies and Molly proceeded to respond with her "I knowwwwwww" reply.

I'm not trying to profess that my dog can speak the English language, but I am amazed at how she makes these sounds that sound like actual words, AND she makes these sounds at the perfect time to appropriately respond to something! I guess I'm so impressed that I decided to write a post about it ;-)
