Itchy, Bumpy Hands

OK - I'm in search for someone who can relate to a medical condition. No, I'm not going to ask about diet pills. I'm asking about this stupid condition that I get on my hands, mostly all over my fingers. Most people who see it say "Oh, Poison Ivy." However, it is not Poison Ivy. I get this every year. Well, actually, I think I pretty much always have it, but it just changes in severity. Each year, it gets worse. Now, I've got them on my feet too. UGH!

Here's a brief description. I have no idea what it is, and any doctor has always just given me creams to put on my hands and fingers, and that just makes them feel icky and itch more. I get bumps, upon bumps, upon bumps all over my fingers. The bumps are filled with fluid, similar to poison ivy, but I reiterate this is not Poison Ivy. Trust me, I know Poison Ivy all to well. Once the bumps have been broken open, they will leave discolored dead skin on my fingers. But, more and more bumps continue to form, you can see them under the skin before they finally appear above the skin. I've notice that if I get stressed out, it gets worse. Hot, humid days seem to make it worse too, but I'm assuming that has something to do with sweating aggravating it. My fingers are an absolute mess right now - they are covered in these bumps and itching like mad... to the point I just wanna scream!

So, you're wondering why am I asking all of you? Because the Blogosphere is HUGE. I'm hoping one of my friends out here is shaking their head right now saying "Yep, I know EXACTLY what that is."

My Problem

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

I have a problem. Although, I must admit that I'm very hesitant to post it on here, because most people just laugh at me and ask, "Are you kidding me?" when I try to explain this problem. So, that has made me very leery about discussing this problem.

Ok, here goes - I am underweight. Go ahead - get it out of your system - say your "G, I wish I had that problem." or your sarcastic "Oh you poor thing." comments. But, it's true. It is a serious problem.

I had lost almost 15 pounds since we moved here in June. Now that I've been sick, I've lost a LOT more weight. My clothes don't fit me, and I look disgusting. I put my 'tight' jeans on yesterday, and they are now so baggy that I can pull them off without even unbuttoning them - and they used to be my TIGHT jeans!

Not only do my clothes not fit, but I look sickly, and being this underweight is unhealthy too. (I definitely won't be wearing any sexy lingerie any time soon.)

I've always struggled with trying to gain weight and then keep that weight on, if I do happen to gain some. I used to try to find expert advice telling me how to gain weight. However, I never had any success finding that advice, because being underweight isn't considered a problem. Everyone wants to help you lose weight, but if you say you want to gain weight, you get laughed at.

Since being sick, I'm afraid to get on the scales. I'm afraid to see how bad it is, because I know it's bad - I can feel my bones and know that my clothes don't fit. My husband has also noticed and has made many comments about it.

I realize that many of you probably stopped reading and are shaking your heads at me, thinking that I'm being ridiculous. But, honestly, this is a struggle for me. So, I guess I'm just wondering if there is anyone else out there who has this same problem. Or, if anyone has some advice for me.

Give Me Five Monday *Job Hunt*

My friend Becca started a new Monday meme called Give Me Five Monday. The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, she will put out a random topic from her list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back to her! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified. Go over to BeccA's Buzz and check it out!

This weeks topic is:
Give Me Five hints, tips, tricks, advice or any other stories related to resumes or succeeding in the great job hunt!

Well, considering my fight to avoid depression right now due to the fact that I am not earning enough of an income, I probably shouldn't be giving out any advice. So, I'll make this another short, sweet, and to-the-point Give Me Five post.

1. Do not be afraid to 'brag' about yourself. Usually, you don't want to sound too full-of-yourself. However, when attempting a get a job, you need to point out your abilities and strong suits, along with any major accomplishments.

2. Do not claim to know or be able to do things that you don't. If you claim to have abilities that you don't have, and you get hired, you will be faced with bad consequences when you are expected to be able to complete those tasks. Instead, be honest. State that you don't have experience performing that task, but that you are a fast learner and would enjoy learning new skills. As usual, honesty is the best policy.

3. If you are experienced in more than one field of employment, have more than one resume, so that you will have a resume geared towards each specific field.

4. Make connections. If you are attempting to break into a new field, network with people who are experienced in that field. Make connections and gain experience, knowledge, and references.

5. Don't be afraid to ask. If you are speaking with someone whom you would like to work for or feel that you could be an asset to that person, go ahead and ask if they are hiring or would be interested in the services you offer. If you don't ask, you'll never know.
