The Theme of Music

(c) Misty DawnS

I'm thinking about music stuff today. Well, first, guess who's coming to concert in Iowa, which really isn't that far from me. No... It's not Martina (she's just my favorite, and I love this photo I got of her at the Grand Ol' Opry). Give up? Sugarland is coming to concert in Ames, Iowa. I wanna go! I wanna go! I ♥ Sugarland! Oh well - it's on a Thursday, and we really can't afford a concert anyway.

Plus, my husband has spent all last night and all this morning putting music on one of the two flash drives my aunt sent us as an anniversary gift. Can you say spoiled? Yes, she totally spoils us.

Oh - and there's a song from Beetlejuice (the movie) that pops into my head almost daily. Hmmmm can't figure out why. (*grinning* at Bear)

Hmmmm, maybe I could save up enough money to go to the concert by switching to online auto insurance. Nah, I doubt it. ;-)

Well, I've gotta go round up some doggies and head to work.

Happy Holidays!

It's been hectic and crazy here, but I'm not complaining, because I have seen my dad every single night for the past FOUR nights! I'm SO happy about that!

It's so great to see everyone in my family! Tomorrow, we are having our get-together with Aunt and Uncle J, LMQ and LMK - I can't wait!!!

I've been absolutely spoiled rotten by Aunt L, with this gorgeous laptop I am using to make this post!!! Yep, you read it - we got here Wednesday night, and Aunt L was knocking on the door before the sun had come up on Thursday morning to go shopping for a new laptop. Don't worry, I do NOT ever disagree with anyone when they comment that I am spoiled.

We are spending ALL of Christmas day with my daddy, his girlfriend, and the wolf :-) Yes, Misty is a happy girl!

Then, Wednesday, my step-daughter is coming to see us and going to spend the night with us.

It's all so wonderful, but it is all going TOO fast!!! We are supposed to be leaving to head back home on Thursday or Friday!!!

I promise to be posting more next week - It will be back to normal, and I'll be regularly visiting everyone's blogs again! I miss you all!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Give Me Five Monday *Christmas Trees*

My friend Becca started a new Monday meme called Give Me Five Monday. The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, she will put out a random topic from her list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back to her! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified. Go over to BeccA's Buzz and check it out!

This week's topic is all about Christmas trees. I'm late in posting today, because I was working at the insurance agency (I agreed to fill in whenever their administrative assistant couldn't be in the office). I'll also be working there tomorrow and Thursday, so please forgive me if I don't make it to everyone's blogs on those days.

Now, about those Christmas trees...
Since we won't be putting up a Christmas tree this year, because we will be traveling out of state to celebrate Christmas (and because my house is tore apart and there wouldn't be any room for a tree, if I were going to put one up), I'm going to tell you about some my traditions centered around the Christmas tree.

1. When I was growing up, we always put the Christmas trees up the day after Thanksgiving. Yes, I said "trees". We would get one real tree that went in our TV room, and we had a four-foot artificial tree that stood on the table in our living room.

2. My grandma was the one who put the lights on the tree. That was the tradition - Grandma would take a break from her cooking or whatever else she was doing to come in and put the lights on the tree.

3. After Grandma put the lights on the tree, it was time for the ornaments (my favorite part). When I was growing up, there were five ceramic ornaments, which were my favorite ornaments. They were Daffy Duck, a rocking horse, Elmer Fudd, Raggedy Ann, and Andy. It was always tradition that I was the one to put these five particular ornaments on the tree. As a child, I always thought this was the tradition simply because they were my favorite ornaments. When I became an adult and was moving out, my aunt brought me those ornaments and told me they were mine. It was then that I found out my dad had specially ordered those ornaments to be made for me the first Christmas after I had gone to live with my grandparents (when I was 2 years old). Obviously, those are still my favorite ornaments, and NO ONE but me is permitted to hang them on the tree.

4. While my aunt, grandma, and I put the tree up and decorated it, we would have Christmas music playing, and my grandpa would be sitting in his chair helping me pick out which ornaments I should hang next.

5. After the tree was finished, we would turn off all the lights, except for the Christmas tree lights. Then, I would climb into Grandpa's lap, we would look at the tree and look for any empty spaces that needed ornaments. If there were empty spaces, I would run to the tree to lovingly fill that place with an ornament. I would then return to my grandpa's lap for the evening, while we looked at the tree and made up silly words to the Christmas songs.

Give Me Five Monday *Birthdays*

My friend Becca started a new Monday meme called Give Me Five Monday. The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, she will put out a random topic from her list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back to her! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified. Go over to BeccA's Buzz and check it out!

This week's topic is Birthdays. You are supposed to list five things that you do or don't like about your birthday. My birthday is June 26, but Becca's birthday is TODAY!!! So I'm sending out a HUGE birthday wish to Becca. I hope you have the most fabulous day ever Becca!

5 Things I Like/Dislike About My Birthday
1. Hay Season - Dislike
My birthday falls right in the middle of Ohio farmers' hay season. My husband and I would hardly have time or energy to speak to each other, let alone enjoy my birthday together. Hay season is supposed to be much less hectic here in the new state though - at least that is what they are telling me ;-)
2. Molly-Collie - LOVE
For my birthday in 2004, my aunt gave me money for Molly's adoption fee. My great uncle also gave me money towards getting Molly a crate. This photo was taken the day she came to live with us (apparently her adjustment period to get used to us didn't take as long as I expected hehe)
3. Cards
You know me, I love words, sayings, quotes, jokes, poetry... you name it! So, I love the cards I receive for my birthday. It also means so much because you know that person picked that card out specifically for you.
4. Cake!!!
Well... DUH! And I want CHOCOLATE!
5. Corn on the Cob
I LOVE corn, and my absolute favorite is corn on the cob (Oh, I'm drooling just thinking about it!) It was tradition that my great uncle would always bring me a watermelon and some corn on the cob for my birthday (he was a produce farmer).

Happy Birthday Becca! I hope it's Fabulous!
For Becca...

I Am SO Spoiled!

I was inside working, and I heard someone in our driveway beeping their horn. I looked out and saw that it was our mailman. He wouldn't get out of his truck, because of Tag. See, I'm not kidding when I tell you that people know about that dog. So, I went running out there, wondering what the heck he had that couldn't be put in my mailbox.

LOOKEE LOOKEE what my aunt sent me!!!
Is that not the coolest thing evahhhhh??? Yes, there are two of the same shirt... I'm assuming that her intention was 'one for me and one for my husband'... blah blah blah. Nah, I'm thinking 'one for me to wear around town and one for a nightgown' :-) Right, that sounds better!

You can bet that I'll be wearing one of my new shirts tonight while I watch the game! Course, you probably already figured that out!

On another note THANKS for the anti-rain dances. Let's just hope that you guys have the right moves, cuz Mr. Wall-Man came and placed the footers yesterday evening, and he came back this morning and poured the cement for the footers. Now, that needs to dry (I guess) before he can continue and build us some d*&n walls! They are still forecasting rain for tomorrow - They'll have to change the forecast after all the vibes from all of your anti-rain dances take effect and move those storm clouds outta here! ;-)
