Normalcy Will Come

Won't it???

I expected everything to 'be back to normal' by now, but it's far from it.

I pictured today being my day to catch up on all my friends' blog posts which I missed while I was away. However, that catching up is going to have to wait yet another day. I was called in to work at the insurance company again today... I'm not saying that's a bad thing (my husband just purchased hay equipment, so, according to my checkbook - any money is a good thing), I'm just saying that I keep having these delusions of getting back into the routine (Misty thrives on routine). Yet, it just isn't happening yet. Plus, I haven't had the chance to really talk with my BBFF, and that is really making me down in the dumps.

So, tomorrow... yes, tomorrow, I'm planning on a day of blog-catching-up... I hope... keeping fingers crossed. Then, tomorrow we have to go to one more Christmas get together in the evening (Yes, I know, we schedule things awfully weird). After that, I'm hoping things will be back to the routine (ahhh, my precious routine).

I haven't even had a chance to catch y'all up on everything! Geesh!

I'll leave you with this wisdom which was shared with me by an elderly gentlemen I met at the post office yesterday... He told me...
"Some of the really old farmers around here say that the first six days of the year will tell you what the first six months' weather will be like."
I found this rather interesting, and I look forward, come June, to looking back and seeing is this statement holds true.
So far, according to our weather here... we are going to have one freaking cold January and February, a little colder-than-normal March... and, if we get the weather in the forecast, we'll end up with a decent April and a much warmer than usual May and June (I like the sounds of the May and June!).
Now, six months from now, I'll have to come back and see if this is true... but, right now, I've got to go to work!

Attention Blogging Buddies

In 2007, I was introduced to blogging. With that introduction, I was blessed with the discovery of so many indescribably special friendships. These friendships know no boundaries or restrictions due to distance. These friends got to know 'me', the true me, without the distractions of physical issues which sometimes prevent someone from taking the time to get to know the real person.
In six short months, these friends have stood by me when I was sad, scared, confused, lost, worried, nervous, angry, and depressed. These same friends have celebrated with me, cheered me on, laughed with me, and joined in with me when I was in a silly mood.
When we first arrived for our holiday visit, I immediately raced to the nearest computer. My BBFF (Tammy) had received results of a biopsy, and I had been traveling and unable to be there with her and find out the news. I knew it would be good news through, because I had prayed so much that God was going to make it OK just so He could get me to shut up ;-) As I anxiously checked my e-mail, I was asked "Is this 'one of those online friends'?" "Well, I met her online. Does that answer your question?"
Then I heard it... I knew is was coming, and I have become more and more intolerable of this comment or way of thinking... "So, she's not a REAL friend then?"
I just smiled and calmly replied, "Oh yes, she's a real friend. I have many wonderful 'real' friends whom I've never met face-t0-face, yet I say prayers for them every night. They have real families and real lives. They have real feelings and emotions, real worries, real dreams, real ideas, and real talents. These friendships are REAL blessings, which I wouldn't trade for anything. And, honestly, sometimes I think these friendships are more 'real' than others, because with these friendships, you get to know the 'real' person and that is what the friendship is based upon. Am I real? You don't doubt that I'm real; just like Tammy's son, daughter, and husband certainly have no doubts that Tammy is real. And, I have no doubt that these friendships are real!"

That was the first night I arrived, and, after that, my online friendships were not questioned again.

These friends I keep referring to, of course, are all of you! I am thankful for the opportunity to meet all of you. I am thankful for everything you have done for me. I am thankful for the friendships you have given me. I am looking forward to being friends through this next year. I am thankful that you are REAL.

Happy Holidays!

It's been hectic and crazy here, but I'm not complaining, because I have seen my dad every single night for the past FOUR nights! I'm SO happy about that!

It's so great to see everyone in my family! Tomorrow, we are having our get-together with Aunt and Uncle J, LMQ and LMK - I can't wait!!!

I've been absolutely spoiled rotten by Aunt L, with this gorgeous laptop I am using to make this post!!! Yep, you read it - we got here Wednesday night, and Aunt L was knocking on the door before the sun had come up on Thursday morning to go shopping for a new laptop. Don't worry, I do NOT ever disagree with anyone when they comment that I am spoiled.

We are spending ALL of Christmas day with my daddy, his girlfriend, and the wolf :-) Yes, Misty is a happy girl!

Then, Wednesday, my step-daughter is coming to see us and going to spend the night with us.

It's all so wonderful, but it is all going TOO fast!!! We are supposed to be leaving to head back home on Thursday or Friday!!!

I promise to be posting more next week - It will be back to normal, and I'll be regularly visiting everyone's blogs again! I miss you all!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Forget About Me?

I'm here (finally)! I've missed you all terribly... to the point of going through some major withdrawals from visiting all of you!

Where do I start?
Thursday morning, at approximately 7 a.m., our electric went out. That wouldn't be such a big deal, except for the fact that we have electric heat and didn't have a generator readily available. Thursday night was a loooooong and cccccold night! I slept in three pairs of sweat pants, three longsleeve shirts (one of which was a hooded sweatshirt, and I had the hood on my head all night long), socks AND slippers, with three blankets on top of me! Did I mention that it was quite ccccccold? Friday morning, I got up and went to town... I had a lot of errands to run... one of which was to pay my electric bill HA!!! How ironic! I spent as long as I could in the warm electric company, bank, and little department store... I think they were getting ready to throw me out. I kept using my cell phone to call my house while hoping the answering machine would pick up, which would mean our electric was back on... no such luck.

So, I finally went home... I had finally reached the breaking point... I was shivering, and I couldn't decide if I wanted to be mad and curse or if I just wanted to cry... I get like that when I'm tired and cold. So, Hubs got home, and we went to my in-law's house to spend the night there (their electric was on). They are in warmer climate for the Winter, so we were just 'borrowing' their warm house for the night.

I booted up their computer... which took FOR-EV-ER... because I desperately needed to work on eight assignments for a final exam which is due tomorrow. After the computer finally booted up, Hubs asked if he could use it for a minute. While he was on the computer, I thought I would be a smart a**, and I called our house... I about passed out when our answering machine picked up!!! I went down the hall exclaiming "Stupid Murphy's Law!!!" Hubs asked, "What?" I said "Well, I just heard my cute and sexy voice on our answering machine." It took him a little bit (he can be slow sometimes) but then it clicked... You mean we have electric now??? Yes, Dear, we have electric now. So, I took a shower at his aunt's house (next door), and we packed everything back up and came home.

I was not meaning to neglect everyone yesterday, but I really needed to focus my attention on those assignments for the final exam... submitted the last assignment today (Yay for me!) Then, I needed to print out some transfers so I can make 15 tote bags tomorrow to take with us. I also had to make my BBFF's Christmas present (Shhhhhh don't tell her! Oh... she reads my blog??? Are you sure??? Oh well... maybe she won't know who my BBFF is hehehe), and I've got lots of preparations to do for the trip! And, we have to throw into the mix the fact that my laptop finally died... D.I.E.D. died... it's done. So, I'm using the eight year old desktop, which is all set up the way Hubs wants it, and it takes me forever to get it situated for me.

I've got TONS more photos, but I imagine after the last post, you have probably had enough of looking at ice photos for awhile.

Anyway - I just wanted to let you know that I'm here. I probably won't have much time to visit many blogs, due to getting ready for the trip and then leaving for the trip, but I will do my best to sneak in here any chance I get! After Christmas, it will be back to normal (I hope... I truly hope)!

I also want to say thank you to everyone who took the time to send me an e-mail to check on me! I truly appreciate that! The friendships I have discovered through blogging are absolutely priceless to me - you all mean SO much!

Give Me Five Monday *Christmas/Holiday Cards*

My friend Becca started a new Monday meme called Give Me Five Monday. The 'Give Me Five' Monday meme is designed to share fun information with each other in a simple short list! Here's how it works. Each week, she will put out a random topic from her list of topics and you share 5 answers of your choice on the given topic and link back to her! You can add photos, links or stories or just a simple list of your own of 5 things that relate to the topic as it pertains to you and your life experiences. It doesn't have to be in any order of importance unless otherwise specified. Go over to BeccA's Buzz and check it out!

This weeks topic is Christmas/Holiday Cards. We are allowed to give any five things about this topic. Mine is going to be very random things.

1. EVERY year, we say we are going to send out Christmas cards, and EVERY year, we end up not following through with that statement. It just seems like there are so many other things to do.

2. I print all of my cards. I'm all about creating custom and personalized items, and I'm all about creating things with the computer. Therefore, my cards are always printed from the computer or e-cards.

3. I love to receive cards with updated photos of the families. Those photos are something you can keep forever, and I think they are very special.

4. My aunt always sends me and e-card and buys me a very beautiful Christmas card.

5. You know those cards that you put money in? Those are really nice cards, aren't they? ;-)

I'm here - I'm here! Just trying to get things done in between laptop meltdowns. Plus, Hubs and I have a lot of preparations to complete before we head back to visit my family for Christmas! A little over a week and I'll be seeing my family and friends!!! WoooooHoooooo

Things that I am very excited about:
1. Gonna see my daddy! I'm gonna see my daddy! Yippee! And my wolf-boyfriend... Yay!!!
2. Gonna see my aunt! WoooooHoooooo
3. Gonna see Aunt & Uncle J and LMQ & LMK! (and LuLu! and, hopefully, LMQ's Bro)!! Oh boy oh boy oh boy
4. I'm also going to see my best friend (other than LMQ & Tammy) and surprise her daughter. Her daughter is in Kindergarten and is always saying "Mommy, I really miss Aunt Misty". The other day, she said "Mommy, I talk to God every night and I ask him to take care of my Aunt Misty because I never get to see her or talk to her anymore." So, we haven't told this sweetheart that I am coming - we are going to surprise her.
5. Get to see my step-daughter... she and I make quite the pair (Yes, she's the one we took to Nashville - there are still many, many stories that I could tell you about that trip). Also going to see my step-son. Probably won't see the oldest step-daughter.
6. I'm also going to see my boss, my cousins, aunts and uncles, friends, old neighbors, and more.
7. The bestest pizza and chip dip and our favoritest restaurant! And, I'm gonna buy a Whopper every time I pass a Burger King! Oh yeah!

There's more... but my laptop is starting to make that funny noise and get real hot... I'll be back in a little while to catch up on everyone's blogs!

Holiday Photo Cards

While I've been procrastinating on writing the big, long report on ergonomics, which is due on Monday, I've been playing around on www.VistaPrint.com. Why can't I write a report on something like this? This is exactly what I have been looking for. When my husband and I went on a walk on Saturday, we managed to get a photo of all three dogs sitting together on our pond's dam. I love the photo and commented to my husband that it would be a perfect photo for putting on Holiday cards. However, I thought it was too late to order any custom printed photo Christmas cards, because it is so close to Christmas. It turns out that I was wrong. VistaPrint can get your order to you in as few as three days, and, to make it even better, they have sales on all of their Holiday cards right now.

I realize this photo doesn't make you think about the Christmas holiday, but I love it, because it has all three of my fur-kids together.
Wouldn't that be cute on a holiday card? Or, is the fact that I may be a bit prejudiced clouding my judgment?

Thanksmas Today

I just wanted to make a quick post to let y'all know why I have not visited your blogs yet today. Since I usually visit about 50 blogs a day, you may have become expectant of my visit and comments. Well, today is our "Thanksmas" with my in-laws, so they can head out to warmer climate tomorrow or Wednesday.

So, I have made two dozen deviled eggs, three dozen Snickerdoodle cookies, and still need to make the baked beans. I have also printed greeting cards and still need to wrap some gifts.

That's why I haven't been to your blogs yet today. I will possibly be around later tonight, but, if not, I will definitely see you tomorrow!
