Sky Watch Friday

(c) Misty DawnS

Y'all tired of my cemetery gate in the sunset photos yet? I wouldn't be surprised if you were, but I just can't help myself. I love the ironwork of the arch and gate, and I love using it as a subject in front of the great sunsets we have here. This shot was taken Monday evening. There will certainly be many more cemetery-gate-sunset photos on my blog in the future - just to give you fair warning ;-)

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
I'll do my best to visit everyone's Sky Watch posts tomorrow, but I've got the flu, which has caused the Fibromyalgia to flare, so I'm not sure how tomorrow will go.

Wordless Wednesday with Words

(c) Misty DawnS

I've been accused of being obsessed with sunsets. Hmmmm, I can't imagine why people would think such a thing of me ;-) Now, with this photo, I think I've probably proven this statement to be true. I just thought it was so neat the way the reflection of the sunset was framed by the window on our steel equipment building.

This brings up a little side note for me. When I entered that photography contest in the nearest 'city', someone had used an old window frame to frame their photo of a hill covered with flowers. It was so creative and really turned out neat. So, I told Hubs that I need some old wooden window frames so I can try this with my photos. Don't worry Barb, I won't take them out of your barn... although, that would be pretty neat.

As far as being obsessed... well, let's just say, if Hubs was looking into Tuscany villa rentals, I'd be charging the camera batteries and daydreaming about sunsets. I'm obviously obsessed with talking and rambling on too, because these posts are supposed to be wordless; Yet, mine hardly ever are. hehe

Heads or Tails *Express*

Heads or Tails has its very own home now! If you click on the graphic above, it will take you to the awesome new HoT blog where you can sign up and start participating in this fun and popular meme!

Today's topic is Heads - Express. Well, you'd be really disappointed if I didn't have a story to tell, wouldn't you. Yeah, just shake your head and make me feel better about my obsessed story telling. Pretend like you like it. hehe

As you know, my grandparents raised me. Well, when I was growing up, my grandpa used to tell my dad, "I just want to be sure she is able to express herself." Grandpa was certainly good at expressing himself; although, we usually called it 'the gift-of-gab'. I can remember being sent outside when he would be talking with a customer who had come to buy lumber. "Grampa, Gramma sent me to get you, cuz it's time for dinner.".... .... .... "Grampa! Gramma is gonna get mad if dinner gets cold!".... .... .... "Grampa! Please don't make me go back in there without you! I'm supposed to be bringing you with me!" hehehe - I love both of them more than I can possibly express to you. ANYWAY, Last week, I would have certainly made my grandpa proud, because I was involved in a half-hour long conversation, and I didn't even understand half of what was said.

There is a couple here in the new county who own quite a bit of land and an equipment dealership. In fact, they own the land across the road where I always photograph deer. Anyway, they are from Argentina. They are a fantastic and friendly couple, and I am always touched, because whenever they drive by when I am walking down the road with my camera in hand, they stop to talk to me. Here's the hitch - they have very strong accents. Well, to them, I'm probably the one with an accent. Anyway, a lot of the time, I have trouble understanding what they are saying to me. So, I don't want to offend my new friends, and I just smile and nod a lot. Well, last week, I was on a sunset-photo-walk, and they stopped to talk to me. Apparently, I agreed to work for them and didn't even know it!

You see, I came home in the dark after our roadside conversation, and told my husband about running into to them and always feeling embarrassed because I stink at understanding people with accents. The next day, Hubs went to their equipment dealership to purchase a part he needed.

The owner of the dealership turned to his wife and asked, "Do you know who this is?" She replied that she didn't. So, he introduced Hubs to her. According to Hubs, she immediately got a huge smile on her face and replied, "OH! Your wife is coming to work for us!" Hubs quickly figured things out and asked, "Oh really? Ummmmm So, when does she start?"

Apparently, I'm expressing myself when I don't even realize it!

Oh, and you didn't think I'd end this post without expressing myself in my most favorite manner of expression, did you? This is what I was photographing when this friendly couple, who are apparently my new employers, pulled up and started talking with me.

What will this mean for my blogging? I'm not really sure yet. I'll know more tomorrow, after I have gone to talk to them about the details. I'm not willing to give up the friends I have found here (see my previous post) or blogging. So, one way or another - you're stuck with me. Tomorrow, I will discuss what is exactly expected of me, what the hours would be, and what the pay would be. Honestly, if the pay is not enough, with the price of gas now, I can't afford to be driving there and back each day just so I can say "I have a 'real' job." So, we'll just have to see. Hmmmm, I wonder if they have leather office chairs. I guess that's a little much to expect for a farm equipment shop, huh? *sigh*

By the way - My friends - PLEASE read my previous post. I put forth extra effort to make sure my 500th post was extra-special.

Beauty at the Cemetery

(c) Misty DawnS

I was going through some archived photos. Yes, I was pouting that my sky has been disappointing all week, and I needed to cheer myself up by realizing that these clouds (and overcast) will, in fact, pass.

I wanted to show you why I like photographing the cemetery gate. In fact, once it is the right time of year, and the sun is setting in the proper area in the sky, I take a photo of that cemetery gate in front of the sunset almost every night.

So, since I'm not participating in Sky Watch, I'm going to show you some of my favorite shots of the gate.

Sky Watch Friday

(c) Misty DawnS

This photo was taken on Easter. I thought the clouds over the sun created a very mystical feeling. I don't know - maybe you just had to be there to understand what I'm saying. I always try to capture the beauty so you can feel like you were there. Yet, sometimes, there is a 'feeling', and it just doesn't seem possible to capture that in a photograph. Do any of the rest of the 'nature addicts' out there feel or know what I'm talking about? Or, am I not making any sense since I've had everything on my mind today from owing on our taxes and not getting the professional camera to drug rehabilitation to adoption to wondering when my vehicle will be repaired... and so much more. It has been a busy day mentally, so maybe I'm just not doing a good job at expressing myself.

Wordless Wednesday (with words)

I realize my Wordless Wednesdays are hardly ever wordless anyway (It's my blog, so it's OK), but I have to talk about this photo. I realized something about myself with this photo... I realized that I am absolutely dog-crazy, and I think about or incorporate dogs into everything. Why did I come to this realization, besides the fact that it's so obvious already? Well, you know you are dog-crazy when you take a photo of a sunset, and you immediately see a puppy's face in the clouds. Yep, you are probably going to think I'm crazy, but right there, to the top right of the trees, I see a puppy's face looking at me head on... white nose and white blaze, little tan eyebrow above the left eye (on our right looking at the face). Seriously! You can see it even more if you look at the photo full size. Maybe the Heaven is telling me to go get another puppy to help me feel better about the camera deal... OR, maybe it is telling me to get a new puppy AND the camera and take photos of the puppy! Yeah, I think that's it! (Please don't call the people with the straight jackets to take me away because I'm seeing puppies in the sky.)(c) MistyDawnS

SUNday

Again, I can't help myself (Tammy & Barb, did you just say 'there's no help for her'?). I can't possibly be expected to wait until Friday to post these photos I captured last night.
I strongly encourage you to click on these photos to view them larger. The sky was absolutely breathtaking last night. I found myself standing in the middle of the road, staring at the sky, with my jaw hanging open and my eyes wide. I was afraid to blink, because I didn't want to miss one split second of this spectacle. The beauty and the awe that overcame me is completely indescribable. God certainly gave me a glimpse of Heaven last night.
And then...
The birds... I told you - they're out to get me - it's a conspiracy!!!

Sky Watch Friday #11

I have something in the works right now that I've only told two bloggers about. It's not that I don't want the rest of you to know... it's one of those 'don't get your hopes up' situations. I don't want to look like a fool on my own blog again ;-) So, if something good happens, then I'll be sure to post. Otherwise, only two of my dearest friends will know that it just didn't work - and, I'm sure they'll still be proud of me for trying (and they'll be trying to give me the 'maybe next time' talk to try to make me stop beating up on myself). Anyway, this photo is involved... I'll let you know more in approximately a week or so.

Sky Watch Friday #9

(c) Misty DawnS

I really am not wanting to post so soon after the birthday post for my grandfather. I always fear that if I post too soon, people won't read the previous post, and that bothers me when it is a post which is important to me like the previous post is. So, I'll make this short and sweet and hope that this Sky Watch photo will cause people to want to explore my blog a little more :-)

Sky Watch Friday #8

I truly love participating in Sky Watch Friday every week. I look forward to it, and I love seeing everyone's sky photos! You can click on the Sky Watch image at the top of this post to learn more about it and join in on the fun!

I seem to be a creature of habit. I have my routine and particular way of doing things. I guess this is true with my photography too, because I have numerous photos with this tree as the subject in front of the sky. I also have many photos of the bird feeders (in my Sky Watch on the other blog) silhouetted against the sunset.

Sky Watch Friday #7

On another note - In between my absolutely crazy, hectic, and frustrating events today, I went out to get the mail. We got the January/February edition of a local magazine that is sent out for free if you are a member of a certain group. Right on the front cover was a photo of a barbed wire fence with ice hanging on it from the ice storm, which I'm sure you all got very tired of hearing about and seeing the photos. I came in the house, dropped the magazine in front of my ill husband and said "I could have done that!" as I pointed to the photo on the cover. Hubs looked at it for a minute and then replied "You DID do that. And, you did it BETTER!" So, with that confidence booster, I went and e-mailed the publishers and asked if they accept photography submissions from residents of the state (especially since I am an employee of their 'group' fulfilling a different purpose). Hey, it doesn't hurt to ask, I guess. As you've probably guessed, I haven't heard back from them. LOL

I Need a Maid

Thank you to everyone who commented on the purple sky. That was the first sunset photo I ever took here in this state. I took it when we were visiting on vacation a few years ago. Several people still say that it is one of their favorite photos of mine, and it remains as one of the favorites on Flickr too,.

Today, is a day for catching up on the housework I've been avoiding. So far, I've done two loads of laundry, with many more to do. I've also swept the floors with a broom, because we have hardwood floors, so I can't use any vacuum cleaners on them. With the remodeling and trudging in here in work boots all the time, it is difficult to keep these floors clean, and I'm getting frustrated. I can't wait until I hit the lottery so I can get a main. Yeah, yeah, I know - probably not going to happen. Oh well, it's a nice daydream.

However, I'm excited because the temperature is almost up into the 50s today! So, when the work is done, you can bet that I am going for a walk to enjoy this weather while we have it! Here's hoping I find that bird!!!

Purple Sky

I think I did more this morning than just scrape my hand and fingers. My wrist is pretty sore. I think I may have strained it. I just keep reminding myself of how much fun it will be when it is time to pick out Kohler sinks and spigots. Besides, as long as I can type, that's all that matters!

Even though I haven't participated in the meme, I read the Friday Feasts of all my blogging friends. I've noticed that today's dessert asked what color you would change the sky to instead of blue. The most popular color choice of my blogging friends was purple, which is just fine with me, because that is my favorite color! Well, I've seen and photographed (I can hear your shock) a purple sky, and I wanted to share it with you so you could see what your purple sky would look like. After you are done viewing the purple sky, and if you have time, I'd really appreciate it if you would stop in at Misty's Words and meet my boyfriend. He's the most gorgeous guy I've ever known, and I want to show him off!

Enjoy your purple sky, my friends...

Sky Watch Friday #5

(c) Misty DawnS
This photo was taken last Sunday.
I was in the house, and when I walked by the window, I exclaimed "Oh MY! " and went running for the camera.
Hubs was asking, "What? What?"
I simply replied, "I've gotta go! I'll be back in a few minutes!"
When Hubs saw the pictures, he then completely understood why his wife had gone running out the door in the middle of winter with shoes on bare feet and no coat.

Sky Watch Friday #1

(c) Misty DawnS

Do ya see that "#1" in the title??? This is my first week joining "Sky Watch Friday", and I'm very, very excited about it (can ya tell?). The reason I'm so excited is because since I moved here, some of my favorite shots are of the sky, whether they are of sunsets, clouds, the sun, the moon, or a sunrise (OK, the sunrise is a very, very occasional shot, because I don't get up early LOL - hey, I DO have TWO sunrise shots... er, um... taken the same morning). Anyway, I'm thrilled to join Sky Watch Friday. In fact, I have so many sky shots, that I joined in with both of my blogs. So, if you want to see another of my sky shots each Friday, then visit Misty's Words (seriously... that blog has hardly any traffic... yes, I realize this is a shameless plug for my other blog... no, I'm not embarrassed - thanks everyone!)

Oh... and for anyone who noticed that my copyright name now has an "S" at the end of it...there's a post to follow about that... you won't want to miss it - it involves a rather endowed porn star, my name, some links to me thinking I'm 'endowed', which I'm not, my husband's reaction when he saw who I am not... are you sufficiently confused yet - stay tuned for the post in which I explain :-)
